Description:This 2 bedroom secluded home with hot tub, located on several acres, 1 ½ miles from the town of Guerneville, is surrounded by redwoods, apple trees, a small fish pond and offers beauty and peaceful surroundings. All rooms have double French doors letting in light and providing lovely views of the grounds. There are hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room/bar and hall. Wood burning stove in the living room provides warmth during the winter months (there is also central heating). The living room has a wet bar with blender and ice bucket, television with surround sound, HBO, DVD player, and full stereo system. The bright large kitchen has everything you need to prepare great meals -- gas range, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster oven, cookware, spices and dishwasher. Large back bedroom has tile floors providing a cool room to rest during the day. This bedroom has a piano, desk/computer work area, free wifi, satellite TV and queen bed. Front bedroom has a double bed, large closet and opens up to the deck and 6-person hot tub. The deck has comfortable seating for many people, redwood picnic table and gas barbeque with rotisserie. There is a stone patio with fire pit to enjoy the cool evenings and starry nights. A fairy grove of redwoods with terra cotta tile floors provides a cool place to sit during the hot afternoons. Four bicycles and two kayaks are provided for your outdoor enjoyment. Beach chairs, inflatable toys, mats and umbrellas are provided for trips to the beach. Children’s toys and board games are available for everyone’s use. Explore the Sonoma wine country, kayak or canoe the Russian River, hike the trails at Armstrong Woods Redwood State Park, or discover the tide pools of the coast, all just a short drive away from Mays Canyon. Walk or ride bikes to the quaint town of Guerneville and enjoy restaurants, coffeehouses, shops, bars, live theatre, and supermarket. Spend the day lazing on the River and retreat to Mays Canyon, sipping wine you just bought at one of the many wineries within 10 minutes of your front door. Ride bikes and do a lazy wine tour up Westside Road. Hop in your car and visit Occidental. Buy incredible bread in Freestone. Check out the art galleries in Bodega. Go birding at Shollenberger Wetlands in Petaluma. Go horseback riding on some of the best trail horses in Armstrong Woods State Park. No smoking. Description:Retreat has been extensively refurbished and designed by a local architect to provide a holiday home and rural retreat which enhances the sense of connection with the inherent beauty of the surrounding landscape. The cottage has an open plan living, dining and kitchen area which is great for sociable evenings around the dining table or you can spill out onto the deck to enjoy a BBQ on a beautiful summer's evening. If you feel more like a quiet, relaxing evening we have a 42” widescreen televsion, DVD & CD player and a small selection of DVD's, books, board games and toys for the kids. Bring your own laptop or ipad and you can connect to the internet free via our wireless broadband. The kitchen has a gas stove, electric oven, large fridge-freezer and dishwasher (no microwave) and is fully equipped to cater for groups. We have a separate bathroom (shower only) and toilet. The laundry area has a washing machine and inside and outside drying facilities but no tumble dryer. There is a two-bay carport, ample space for additional cars, boats or trailers and we can also provide grazing for your horses if necessary. Please enquire about bringing your pets, as we have a pets 'outside only' policy and a smoking 'outside only' policy.It has three separate bedrooms and an open plan space upstairs which can be used as a second lounge for the kids, a yoga space or a fourth bedroom. To ensure you enjoy a carefree stay, we are available 7 days a week to answer any questions you may have or resolve any issues that may arise. We live in Frederick, MD (about 100 miles from Elkton). We have both a local caretaker and a handyman 10 minutes from the chalet. We have been renting our chalet as a vacation getaway for over 5 years. You provide your own food and we'll take care of everything else. The chalet is 100 miles from Washington DC, and 100 miles from Richmond. An easy drive on great roads. We keep the driveway plowed should it snow. We are 1 mile from hiking in Shenandoah National Park, 15 minutes to the nearest town, Elkton, and 25 minutes to Massanutten Ski Resort and waterpark. We have used it as a get-a-way in the winter to leave the hectic pace of DC and love that there's no cable, internet, or cell phone coverage... we bring dvd's, lots of food and drink, hike during the day and cook and relax at night. Wonderful vacation in the historic Shenandoah. Being a Virginian any chance to travel the Shenandoah Valley is a pleasure. Rarely, due to work schedules, have my wife an I been able to stay for more than a day or two. This time I had seven whole days. I believe this was the first site that I visited yet it seemed to have all that I was looking for to relax and explore in detail parts of the Valley. Where else but among the folks of the valley could you arrive and check in with such ease. The setting is as beautiful as described with a wonderful view of the mountains saying good night at sunset and to awaken us at sunrise. The chalet was a delight with every thing we would need. Even phone service was provided since cell service is spotty at best. Being from the Washington area the last thing we needed was blaring media news. We came to the Shenandoah to get away from that. We used the chalet as a base camp to explore from Waynesboro to Winchester. Seven days of perfect weather did not hamper things while hiking the Skyline but even a steady rain would have been fun here. This is a great place inhabited by wonderful people. We will be back. Thank you very much for your help with the cabin last weekend. We had a very nice time, the skiing was great, and the beds were very comfortable (after skiing, that is important!). Excellent getaway choice near Shenandoah National Park. The Shenandoah Chalet is a very good choice as a home base for exploring the Shenandoah Valley or the National Park. Many other interesting places to explore are nearby, with Charlottesville and Monticello about an hour away. The chalet is situated a few miles from the Western park border northeast of Elkton Virginia and convenient to Skyline Drive and, further South, the Blue Ridge Parkway. Although some might see it as a disadvantage, the Chalet is rather isolated, well off the beaten path several miles off Highway 340. However, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet when not out sightseeing. The Shenandoah Chalet is perfect for a quiet getaway and would easily accomodate 3-4 people. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen with a great variety of cooking utensils. The loft bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed and the small downstairs bedroom could accomodate another person or couple. The owners were very helpful, answering our email questions very promptly. The Balinese are very proud of their heritage and special Balinese entertainment, with their unique dancers, and gamelan band can also be provided.Sleeping Pavilions From the main living pavilion a wide white palimanan terrace takes you though to the bedroom courtyard which is U shaped. The two bedroom pavilions are separated by a feature wall of three antiqued limed Bali doors that are beautifully unlighted at night.. There are 4 bedrooms downstairs and one upstairs. All the downstairs bedrooms wide double doors which open onto the courtyard. This is an ideal set up for families. The master bedroom has an internal door which opens onto the media/study room. The media room also is the access to the bedroom upstairs, with the twin bedroom only a few steps away.The TV Room has a wall unit with, cable TV and DVD player, a wall to wall built in sofa, a cozy nook for relaxing.Laundry and Staff Quarters There is an on-site laundry and the staff has been trained to handle all guest laundry. Please advise which items you wished to have dry cleaned, which will be arranged for you and charged at local prices. Staff There are 9 full time staff at the villa to take care of your every need. All the house staff speak English and have been carefully trained to accommodated the needs of a fully working household with guests. We 're located at 5,600 feet, on the forested slopes of 8,831 foot tall Mt. Pinos, where all four seasons make themselves known, one after the other. n nWe 're located walking close to the quaint PMC village center, which offers many conveniences, from restaurants and shops, to a grocery store and video rentals, to name a few. At the same time, our home has a secluded feel, being at the end of a 150 ' gravel driveway, with a green belt on three sides. n nNestled in a grove of amazing 60 ' tall oak trees, it 's easy to lose track of time gazing out the huge sliding glass door at 7,492 foot San Emigdio Mountain, or sitting on the spacious deck, listening to the streams that flow into the meadow below us. It 's common to see deer grazing just below the deck. n nBuilt in 1971, this 1,000 sq. ft. cabin is kind of a time capsule of that era, with its shag carpets, beautiful pine paneling and very 70 's color scheme.
