Description:Windiana is nestled between towering white pine trees facing Long Pond a fresh water lake. Take a dip or kayak in the crystal clear waters of the lake. It is in one of the premier locations on Long Pond with views of Mansel and Bernard mountains. This is a less populated part of the pond with untouched Acadia National Park land directly across and to the right. There are no other houses on the lake visible from this property. Long Pond is the largest lake on Mt. Desert stretching four miles. It is perfect for swimming and boating. Two kayaks and a large canoe are included. n nWindiana is a three bedroom cottage situated on a ten acre property. It is peaceful as we have a large property, no neighbors nearby, or road traffic. We are just a few steps to the water, floating dock, and boats. The living room has 16 foot ceilings and a skylight and glass windows on two sides. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a sliding glass door to the deck. The second bedroom has a full bed and the third bedroom has two single beds. The living room sofa converts to a double bed as well. There are water views from all the bedrooms. The bathroom is a very generous size with a stone shower. There is a washer and dryer in the bathroom. Indoor table seats six to eight. We are one of the few places that has great cell phone service! There is a deck on two sides 12 X 36 and 8 x 16 with an outdoor table that seats 8 and a gas grill with one burner. The deck has a chaise, rocking chair, four adirondack chairs, and captain 's chairs. There is a private floating dock and a swimming area with a canoe and 2 kayaks available for exploring the lake. n nWe are located in the Somesville which is part of the town of Mt. Desert. We have access to the ocean, a fresh water lake, mountains, trails, and bike paths. You can kayak, go Whale Watching, take a scenic cruise, or sail on a Windjammer. Some of our renters had taken the bi-plane, gone rock climbing and birding. A must is a Blueberry Mohito at the Claremont, Popovers at Jordan Pond, Lobsters at Thurston 's and ice cream at Ben and Bills. The Causeway Club and Kebo Club are great for golfers and don 't miss the Claremont Croquet Tournament in August. n nThis is the perfect place to relax after visiting Acadia. Enjoy the spectacular view from the decks and watch for loons and eagles. Take an early morning kayak ride while the lake is like glass. Sun and swim on the private dock and explore a fresh water lake. Canoe to Rum Island or Duck Rock for a picnic. Fish for bass and salmon or just relax on the sofa and look into the blue sky and pine trees. Watch the moon rise over Beech and curl up in a blanket and star gaze at night.
