Ideal for some quiet contemplation during your stay at the property. The large garden has wonderful views looking down the Buttermere Valley and across to Skiddaw as well as Grasmoor and Red Pike. Perfect for sitting out and enjoying a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine as you watch the sun set over the fells. There are hundreds of walks straight from your front door as well as a short 5 min walk to Hundith Hill hotel bar and restaurant. The market town of Cockermouth (home of Wordsworth) is only a short 10 minute drive and has a large variety of restaurants, cafe's and bars. The high street has several independent shops and boutiques and the Jennings Brewery also hails from here, it's well worth a visit and doing the tour if not just for the chance to sample some of the fine ales they produce at the end of it. Keswick is only 15 minutes away and is known as the 'Outdoor adventure capital of England' making it the ideal place for all the thrill seekers visiting the area whether it be on bike, rope, water or paraglider. The Old Stable has a bath with fixed shower head above it, WC and wash basin. Going back through to the foyer then turning right takes you into the large lounge with comfortable seating, TV, DVD player and a large wood burning stove set in one of the largest working fire places/chimneys in the Lake District. This then opens out into the spacious dining room with seating for 25. There is also a wonderful original old boiling pot as you enter the dining room. To your right is the door leading to the spacious garden. The large lawned garden is extremely large and has a patio with outdoor furniture as well as the large lawned area with beautiful views which look towards the Buttermere Valley, across to Skiddaw, Grasmoor and Red Pike. Back into the dining room then down the corridor takes you into the kitchen which has an electric range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and large freestanding fridge as well as freestanding freezer. There is also plenty of storage space in the kitchen. Out of the kitchen, turn right and through into another corridor, the first door is the utility room which has a washing machine and tumble dryer as well as a WC. The next room along is Byre 1 with 3 single beds and en-suite which has walk in shower, WC, basin and handrails these are also wheelchair friendly. Next to this bedroom is Byre 2, a family room with a double bed and 2 single beds. The en-suite is again wheelchair friendly with walk in shower, WC, basin and handrails. First Floor You ascend to the first floor of The Old Homestead climbing the original 16th century staircase and from the landing is a door to your left which takes you into a hallway where you will find Swallow Loft, a twin bedroom with en-suite which has a bath with fixed shower head, WC and wash basin. Next to this room is Hayloft a family room with a double bed and a second annexed area with twin beds. Again there is an en-suite which has a bath with fixed shower head above, WC and wash basin. Heading back to the landing there is another door in front of you leading to a long corridor. Description:The GYM is a fantastic venue for families, youth groups, and team retreats! The centerpiece of the property is the NBA-sized half court with 3 glass backboards! The 2 side hoops adjust from 8' to 10'. The GYM is also equipped with a volleyball net that also doubles for badminton! The GYM also features a kid's play area, air hockey, and foosball. The facility comes equipped with sporting equipment, such as basketballs, volleyballs, and badminton equipment. (Please see photos) Just off the gym is a self-contained apartment called The Cubby. The Cubby has 3 sleeping areas and can sleep 9 comfortably. Upstairs there is a King Bedroom and a bonus room with a Twin over a Queen Bunk Bed. Just off the main floor kitchen area is a sleeping closet featuring a Queen over Queen Bunk Bed. The Cubby has 1 and a half bathrooms. The full bathroom has 2 showers and double sinks. Just across the gravel parking area from The Gym sits The Chalet. This unique swiss themed log home features 3 bedrooms, 2 loft areas, and 3 bathrooms. With sleeping for 10 it offers additional accommodations when booking The Gym for larger groups. To preview The Chalet on our website click HERE!. Please call for discounted pricing when renting both The Gym and The Chalet together. At the heart of the Cubby is the cozy great room complete with a full kitchen, comfortable living room, and a gas fireplace. The large pine picnic table in the kitchen will seat 6 comfortably. You'll enjoy the large flat screen TV with Satellite and DVD player. Some videos and board games are provided. The Cubby also has free WiFi Internet for those of you that need to stay connected during your stay. The great room is a relaxing and quiet place for the adults to relax while the kids are having a ball in the Gym. Just outside the living room there is a very private and scenic patio area. This is a great place to sit back and relax during the summer months. The property is nestled on 30 private acres and you'll often see Elk, Deer, and wild Turkeys! A gas BBQ is provided as well. In the GYM you'll find a 3rd bathroom that features 2 showers and double sinks. The Gym is equipped with over 30 gym mats that are perfect for kids and young adults to sleep on the gym floor. (Bring your own sleeping bags.) the gym mats also velcro together to make a large padded area. There's an additional Queen Bed in the Gym Mezzanine. On the far side of the gym is an open garage area that doubles as a mess hall for feeding larger groups. Folding tables and chairs are provided. (No eating or drinking in the gym itself.) There is a 2nd smaller garage that features a ping pong table! Both garage areas have portable heaters for use during the fall and winter. The GYM is available year round, but expect compact snow and ice on the roadway during the winter. You can ride your snowmobiles directly from the cabin during the winter months! There are also sloped areas on the property where the kids and young adults can enjoy sledding!
