Eat out, cook your own food, or sit back and relax while a chef prepares your meal right on the estate. n n[7 hectares] nThis Palladian villa was built in the second half of the 16th century by the noble Marcello family of Venice. A well-preserved example of Renaissance architecture, the 16th century complex is structured with a central main building flanked by arcaded wings. A large, independent three-story apartment in the left wing is available for rental. It is furnished with antiques, period paintings, and objets d 'arts that have been in the family since the 16th century. The apartment was restored in 1990 and partially refurbished in 2003. Most rooms have original parquet floors and ceilings with plaster moldings. The bathrooms are done in hand painted Vietri tiles and have new fixtures. A member of the Marcello family resides in a separate part of the villa and is available to welcome guests and offer assistance during their stay. Outdoor amenities include a classic Italian garden with a fountain, Greek mythical statues, flower beds, and lawns. The park [7 hectares] is fully enclosed and is framed by rows of hornbeams, limes, and oaks. Outbuildings include a dove cote and chapel. There is a large fish pond with running water and woods with century-old trees. Near to the main building there is a small, separate garden with swimming pool surrounded by oleanders, roses, and hydrangeas. Poolside amenities include a gazebo, wooden table, six chairs, three deck chairs, and a barbecue. There is a dressing room stocked with towels [changed twice weekly] and a small refrigerator. Inside the larger park there is a soccer field. Parking is available near the apartment entrance. n n[315 m2] Three floors in the left wing. nGround floor: In the entry way, you find marble stairs that lead to the first floor. nFirst floor: On the left side of the landing there is a double bedroom with a queen-size bed and an en suite bathroom with tub and wall-mounted shower head. There is a private sitting room with sofa, writing desk, and closet. The entire suite has exposed beam ceilings and windows. On the right side of the landing, a hallway leads to the dining room [furnished with a table for 8] and a well-equipped kitchen [oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher and toaster]. Both the dining room and the hallway lead into the large living room, which has six windows on three sides and is furnished with a large sofa, two easy chairs, four arm chairs and a chaise lounger. This room is equipped with an open bar, satellite TV, stereo/CD and DVD player. Returning again to the landing, wooden stairs lead to the second floor. nSecond floor: At the end of the hallway along the handmade balcony, three doors lead to the other bedrooms. The first is a double bedroom with a queen-size bed, writing desk, three chairs, and two chests of drawers. Passing the walk-in closet, there is an en suite bathroom with tub and wall-mounted shower head. The second door leads to a double bedroom with queen-size bed, writing desk, chest of drawers, and easy chair. The third door leads to a sitting room with closet, sofa, and writing desk that leads to the last bedroom, a large bedroom with twin beds, easy chair, three chairs, and two chests of drawers. Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: Towels are provided for all guests, as are large poolside/beach towels. The pool and other maintenance is organised by Ernie our local agent. Fresh Bedding and towels are provided every week during longer stays. Notes on accommodation There is on demand hot water from the gas water heater. The windows have external security grilles so windows can be safely left open .the windows fold right back against the wall internally, and the curtains can then be pulled across to give ventilation without attracting insects. All rooms are equipped with floor standing fans which have timer operation so can be left on at night to turn off later. The Naya has candle lanterns , a ceiling fan, and an insect zappa, and the large table can be further extended to seat up to 12 people. Accessibility The villa plot has secure metal entrance gates and balustrades so can be made reasonably child-secure. There are steps up into the villa, but all accommodation is then on one level so would be suitable for wheelchair use once up the steep driveway and steps.The steps up the garden at the rear are not reccommended for the very young or old as no safety rails are present. Outside There are quality sun loungers and cushions, heavy quality plastic dining chairs with fitted cushions, parasol umbrellas, a large heavy duty barbecue with full utensils etc (charcoal and firelighters are available in the local supermarkets in Halon), the patio has recessed led uplighters for night time illumination.There is a raised area of garden to the rear of the villa which can be visited up the steps for a stunning view up the valley towards the local town of Orba. The garden has established cactii and pine trees and a beautiful old Carob tree, and palm trees in large pots adorn the terrace around the pool. The pool measures a generous 10 x 5 metres and ranges in depth from approx 1m to 2m. There is a plastic slide with water lubrication, and as this discharges into the shallow end, this is very poplar with all ages of guests! A sun-warmed open air shower adjacent the pool is very useful for acclimatising and removing sun creams and for washing off after a swim. Booking notes When we have agreed the dates and price, we will require payment of 25% deposit to secure the booking, with the balance to paid in full by 6 weeks prior to start of the letting.
