As hosts, we typically remain on the property full time and operate as a bed and breakfast, hostel and/or dormitory style environment. We welcome you to respectfully enjoy our home as if it were your own, with access to the living areas, decks, eat in kitchens, etc. In order to accommodate you or your group appropriately, I will need additional information. For example, your group may not fit in one room, you may wish to occupy more than one room or request the entire home (not available May thru October) or a level of the home. Charges vary by person, space, room/s, weekends/special holidays or events and length of stay. My apologies but it is difficult to address each and every possibility we can provide so the site calculator and/or calendar will NOT be correct. About the neighborhood: Why we love it-Lakeview is an idyllic neighborhood with lush tree lined streets, historic townhomes, and lots of young families. Pretend you’re a local by spending time walking around the area parks, boutiques, brunch joints (Kanel, Bakin’& Eggs) coffee shops, and amazing restaurants with dining deals every night! Speaking of the nightlife-vibrant bars with wonderful craft beers, (Ten Cat, NorthDown) happening live music venues (Uncommon Ground, Schuba’s, Metro, Lincoln Hall), comedy clubs (Chemically Imbalanced, IO Theater), catch indie and foreign films (The Landmark Century Centre Cinema or Brew and View at the Vic) award winning performing arts (Athenaeum, Apollo, TimeLine, Playground) makes this an ideal location. Not to mention Chicago’s sporting events-Wrigley Field is within walking distance and the home of the Bulls and Blackhawks (United Center) as well as White Sox’s Cellular Field is a quick trip on public transit! With twenty-four hour trains, some overnight bus services, and plenty of taxis, transportation in and around the city is fast and easy- even to and from Midway and O’Hare Airport! Enjoy Lake Michigan’s Lakefront, with a 22 mile stretch of bike and running path. Don’t forget to sink your toes in the sand, visit the fun bars and maybe join a game of volleyball at North, Oak, Ohio and Montrose Beaches. The free Lincoln Park Zoo and Nature Museum are close by and great for a family-fun weekend. After dark when the Loop and downtown sites are desolate, the work day is over and the sidewalks roll up at 6pm, take an opportunity to enjoy the uniqueness of one of the best North side neighborhoods. Take a break and unwind from your conference or convention at McCormick Place. Stroll along Lincoln, Clark and Belmont Avenue's or over to Roscoe Village to enjoy our local stores and vintage shops.Just a few blocks away, check out the up and coming Southport Corridor and Music Box Theater. Walk to Wrigleyville for the city’s best nite life, plethora of bars (The Cubby Bear, The Dugout) and restaurants or Wrigley Field for Cubs Games and concerts. (free game nite and concert parking for our guests) We’ve got it all! Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Jewel Osco are just a quick walk. (Our neighborhood has a walk score of 91) We provide Wifi, cable TV, parking, etc. About the transit: Chicago's amazing public transit system and the proximity of stops to our place, makes this an ideal location to call home base when working in the city or visiting to explore the local attractions. Sleep peacefully-we are close enough to the EL for convenience but far enough that it is a distant if unnoticeable sound. Our clean, safe home is nestled conveniently between the Red line train (which operates 24/7) and Brown line Addison EL city train stops. The Paulina brown line station is just a few short blocks along with the Southport and Addison brown line stations within 10 minutes walking distance. The 9 (North and South) and the 152 (East and West) bus stops are at each end of our block. About the sites: The speedy train will have you to the steps of all area sites within minutes, such as Michigan Avenue known as Magnificent Mile for the shoppers, The Arts Institute for the largest Monet collection in the world, Museum Campus for those who wish to explore the Shedd Aquarium, Field and Science and Adler Planetarium. Or if your wish is to wander Navy Pier for the 15 story Ferris Wheel and Shakespeare Theater or take in the beauty of Lake Shore Drive and the miles of lakefront bike paths, this is it. Visit other conveniently located neighborhoods. Check out Old Town for a visit to the famous Second City and Wells Street, or further East to Gold Coast for more great restaurants and nightlife and further West for trendy Bucktown and Wicker Park for shopping or food tours. Go North to Andersonville’s quaint Main Street, North West to Lincoln Square for Old Town School of Folk Music and North East to Uptown for some of my favorites like Tank Noodle on Argyle Streets “Little Vietnam” area, the Green Mill, Chicago’s oldest jazz club, the Aragon Ballroom and Riviera and Annoyance Theaters. Other must see and do’s like, Millennium Park to include The Bean (Cloud Gate) and Frank Gehry’s outdoor concert pavilion, Grant Park for Buckingham Fountain, Soldier Field, Lincoln Park and the free Zoo all easy trips. The not to be missed tours by boat, bus or foot sponsored by the Chicago Architectural Foundation for structural and history buffs alike, Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) for the 360 degree views on the Sky Deck and the John Hancock Building observatory for the adventurers. Nearby colleges DePaul and Loyola as well as easily accessible UIC and Northwestern, makes this a great stay for parent visits or temporary housing for college students on break or while awaiting permanent housing. Situated in a convenient location to all city and suburb hospitals make for an easy commute if here for a medical internship or rotation. About the house: Our place is a great option for those adventurous spirits looking to live like a local in a safe and clean place while seeing the sites. Share this convenient space with fellow travelers or meet other working guests in transition and moving to the area. Learn about their journeys over breakfast while getting your day started or unwinding with a glass of wine at the end of a long day of site seeing on one of 3 outdoor decks. Join us hosts for impromptu s’mores in the fire pit while hearing about where folks are from and where they are headed next:) What makes our place unique? The amount of space we offer of course! One of the few places in the city that has the ability to accommodate larger groups, we love hosting out of town guests and ensuring they have a great experience. This home has 4 levels, the Penthouse level and the main level (A) which are one apartment, the middle level (B) which is its own apartment and the garden level (C) also its own apartment.The Penthouse level, accessed by 3 flights stairs, offers two enormous rooms.On the East side of the home, is the Master Suite with Master Bath. It offers a King Size Sleep Number bed, steam shower and private entrance from the Sky Deck. You can see why it is our primary occupancy and why we rent it only on occasion :)On the West side of the Penthouse level is an enormous room without shared walls for maximum privacy. This also offers an equally grand full size bathroom located just outside the bedroom door creating an environment that is nearly a Master Suite in its own right. This room can provide accommodations in a mix of real beds and air mattresses.The Main level (A)-The front door staircase leads to a sizable living room that seats 8 with our brand new leather Lazy boy reclining sofa, leather chair and ottoman and new 46 flat screen tv w/cable.Conveniently located on this level is also a spacious full size bathroom with stand- up walk in shower. The enormous eat in kitchen seats 4 to 5 persons at the counter and another 6 to 8 at the dining table. There is a deck off of the kitchen that can seat another 4 to 5 persons.Sleeping accommodations on the main level consist of a large room with a mix of either real beds or air mattresses and a flat screen cable tv. There is also a semi private alcove off of the living room blocked off by privacy screens.Both the Main and Penthouse levels have had the most up to date conveniences to include a stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and central heat and air conditioning.Apartment B-This apartment, accessed by only one flight of stairs, has the perfect arrangement for groups wishing to have a more private stay. For example, we welcome families with well-behaved children and mature, respectful adults and students.The amenities include a large living room with brand new flat screen tv, sectional sofa, an enormous eat in kitchen with a modern bar height table and island kitchen counter with bar stool seating. There is a deck just off of the kitchen to have your morning coffee. A/C window units keep the space cool and comfortable in the summer and central heat keeps it cozy in the winter.There is one enormous bedroom which has a unique and comfy loft style bed (grown up bunk bed) and a 2nd cozy bedroom. A combination of real beds and air mattresses are available to sleep your group comfortably. If needed, the living room can accommodate comfy, raised air mattresses as well. Three enormous closets easily offer plenty of storage space for luggage for large groups.Need more room/s? More sleeping spaces or gathering spaces are available for your group on other levels!The Garden Level Apartment C-A very spacious yet smaller version of accommodations and amenities provided in Apartment B, this unit has been equipped with a window bench seat, flat screen tv, full kitchen to include a microwave, coffee pot and toaster oven. For travelers wishing more comforts than a hotel, we can provide a dining room table, two comfy living room chairs and a desk. Sleeping accommodations provide for a mix of real and air mattresses which can be increased for a larger group by moving and/or eliminating dining and living room furniture. Between the garden unit design and windy city breeze, this space stays cool in the summer and central heat keeps it cozy in the winter.Need more room/s? The 9 (North and South) and the 152 (East and West) bus stops are at each end of our block. About the sites: The speedy train will have you to the steps of all area sites within minutes, such as Michigan Avenue known as Magnificent Mile for the shoppers, The Arts Institute for the largest Monet collection in the world, Museum Campus for those who wish to explore the Shedd Aquarium, Field and Science and Adler Planetarium. Or if your wish is to wander Navy Pier for the 15 story Ferris Wheel and Shakespeare Theater or take in the beauty of Lake Shore Drive and the miles of lakefront bike paths, this is it. Visit other conveniently located neighborhoods. About the house: This is an amazing place with lots of space! This home has 4 levels, the Penthouse level and the main level (A) which are one apartment, the middle level (B) which is its own apartment and the garden level (C) also its own apartment. The Penthouse level, accessed by 3 flights stairs, offers two enormous rooms. On the East side of the home, is the Master Suite with Master Bath. It offers a King Size Sleep Number bed, steam shower and private entrance from the Sky Deck. You can see why it is our primary occupancy and why we rent it only on occasion :) * On the West side of the Penthouse level is an enormous room without shared walls for maximum privacy. This also offers an equally grand full size bathroom located just outside the bedroom door creating an environment that is nearly a Master Suite in its own right. This room offers accommodations in a King Size bed AND a Queen Size bed. We can sleep up to 6 persons in this room snugly by adding a couple of comfy raised twin size air mattresses or a comfy raised queen size air mattress. This home has 4 levels, the Penthouse level and the main level (A) which are one apartment, the middle level (B) which is its own apartment and the garden level (C) also its own apartment.The Penthouse level, accessed by 3 flights stairs, offers two enormous rooms.On the East side of the home, is the Master Suite with Master Bath. It offers a King Size Sleep Number bed, steam shower and private entrance from the Sky Deck. You can see why it is our primary occupancy and why we rent it only on occasion :)On the West side of the Penthouse level is an enormous room without shared walls for maximum privacy. This also offers an equally grand full size bathroom located just outside the bedroom door creating an environment that is nearly a Master Suite in its own right. This room can provide accommodations in a mix of real beds and air mattresses.The Main level (A)-The front door staircase leads to a sizable living room that seats 8 with our brand new leather Lazy boy reclining sofa, leather chair and ottoman and new 46 flat screen tv w/cable.Conveniently located on this level is also a spacious full size bathroom with stand- up walk in shower. The enormous eat in kitchen seats 4 to 5 persons at the counter and another 6 to 8 at the dining table. There is a deck off of the kitchen that can seat another 4 to 5 persons.Sleeping accommodations on the main level consist of a large room with a mix of either real beds or air mattresses and a flat screen cable tv. There is also a semi private alcove off of the living room blocked off by privacy screens.Both the Main and Penthouse levels have had the most up to date conveniences to include a stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and central heat and air conditioning.Apartment B-This apartment, accessed by only one flight of stairs, has the perfect arrangement for groups wishing to have a more private stay. Description:Salt Water is a luxury beach home that makes the most of seamless indoor/outdoor living in La Jolla Shores. If your vision of a beach home includes eating breakfast in a sunny and private courtyard, a short stroll to the warm sand and cool Pacific and walking home via the gourmet market, then Salt Water is your holiday destination. Lisa and I renovated this home for our family and friends and now we make it available to you and your friends. From the crisp seaside colors to the stainless steel countertops we're told that we've succeeded in blending contemporary design with the warmth and openness of a sunny seaside retreat. All the modern conveniences and luxuries of a finely appointed home we offer to you. While the inside of the house is cool and very comfortable by itself, we created a clean outdoor living space, allowing you to make the most of Southern California's fantastic weather. The nicely landscaped front yard is secure and gated, and includes a kid's teeter-totter and large grassy area perfect for fun in the sun. When you decide to venture outside the home, the world famous La Jolla Shores beach is three short blocks West (no hills or busy streets), two blocks (South) are La Jolla Shore's award-winning restaurants (Piatti's, Barbarellas, Osteria Romantica), surf schools, kayak rentals, fresh food markets and coffee shops. I guess we are now on the map as Starbucks is within walking distance as well. Of course you're only 5 minutes driving from Down Town La Jolla, 15 minutes to Sea World and 20 minutes to the Zoo. Our home has 3 bedrooms, with comfortable sleeping for 8 people. The master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed with private bathroom, beautiful French doors that open to the center courtyard, walk-in closet and television with full cable, DVD and stereo. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed with spacious closet and desk area. The third bedroom, Kid's Room has two twin bunk beds and large closet all very light and bright. The second bathroom has lots of counter space, a large bathtub and shower and specialty tile flooring. All linens (sheets, pillows, blankets, bath towels, beach towels) are provided. As our kids loved to roll in the sand we created an outdoor hot and cold shower that is very private. This encouraged the sand to stay outside with bathing suits on the drying rack before dripping down the hall. Our fondest memories (and soon to be your summer tradition) are of the peace of sitting in the living room with vaulted ceiling and music coming from 8 speakers (living room, kitchen, courtyard) while playing games with all the doors open and kids running everywhere. If the weather cools down enough to light the wood fire then it's just a bonus to the already relaxing atmosphere. Other goodies include: The large screen television with Bose surround sound for movies that thunder or sooth. There is also a long dining table with seating for 8 next to a large sunny window overlooking the front garden and seasonal flowers, roses and oranges. Lisa and I love to entertain which for us means we love to cook. Actually she is the cook. We developed a working kitchen that's very open and blends with the activity of the home. Of course there is a gas cook top with convection oven and a separate second oven if needed. All appliances (frig, microwave, dishwasher.) are full sized and full of quality. The custom cabinets and stainless counter tops create more room than you will know what to do with. There is also a center island with bar stools perfect for visiting the cook while not getting in the way. You will be pleased with the abundance of quality dishes, glassware, utensils, as well as all kitchen supplies and small appliances necessary to prepare any meal and have very nice parties. There is also a breakfast table in the kitchen area with seating for 4. Off the master bedroom is a door to the back patio. In this red bricked patio there are two free standing buildings one is an office and the second is a tool shed. The office has two glass French doors looking onto the patio, a desk and chair, high-speed internet (wired), phone and fax thus allowing the working vacationer to check-in without background noises or distraction. If the kids need a time out or just a place to relax, they can also come here to be separate from the goings on in the house. Parking is plentiful at Salt Water, driveway area can hold 4 - 5 cars. The home is equipped with a full size washer and dryer for your convenience. We can provide pak-n-play cribs, highchairs, strollers and noise monitors for families with small children. To make your vacation at the beach even easier you'll find the BBQ, bicycles, boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, beach towels and coolers, so that you can better enjoy the area the way we do. But most important, and speaking from years of experience, parents will appreciate the BIG WAGON to carry all the aforementioned must haves to the beach and back. You'll be thanking me for this added extra. Our home is about outside living, the warm sun and a constant cool ocean breeze. - It's about dinners outside under the stars (seating for 10 ) and early morning beach walks. We like to be in the mix of the scene but at the close of the gate, have an oasis of peace and warmth of family and friends surrounding us. With 11 doors opening to the center courtyard this is truly an indoor/outdoor experience. Description:This newly renovated seaside villa, in a popular Normandy village, is in a quiet spot. At the end of the street, is a 12km sand beach, stretching south to the historic town of Granville, birthplace of Christian Dior. n nThe house is a very comfortable family house, suitable for very large families or several families sharing. The house sleeps 12 very comfortably, in 6 bedrooms, and has a large enclosed private garden, good for running around, football and dogs. n nThere are four bedrooms with twin beds that can be converted into superking size beds if preferred and two other bedrooms, one with a queen size 140cm double bed and the other with a 160cm double bed. They are hotel quality beds, which are extremely comfortable. There are also two wooden cot beds (under 2s). n nThe bedrooms are situated on both floors, which allows for some extra privacy. The two downstairs bedrooms both have the twin/superking option, with a bathroom and loo shared between the two rooms. Upstairs are two bathrooms one with bath and loo, and one with a shower and a separate loo. n nThere are also two high chairs, and we provide potties, a baby bath, extra high chairs etc if needed. The house is also equipped with plastic plates, spoons and knives for children. On request we can provide a baby pack, including nappies, baby food etc. In fact apart from a baby buggy/pram, we try to provide everything you will need. There is a good range of toys and games for different ages, including a wendy house, trampoline, and all the necessary buckets, spades and toys for the beach. n nWe also supply all the towels for the beach and house, all linens and a 10kg washing machine, 8kg tumble drier, and all the shower and house cleaning products. Our aim is that you should be able to travel as light as possible. There is a good selection of books and films (over 400) in the house, both for adults and children, and Sky TV and French TNT. n nSt Martin is a really fantastic place for children of all ages. There is an amazing range of activities for ages from 3 . At the bottom of the street is the sailing club, which also does sand yachting, kite surfing etc. Next to it is the golf course. In the other direction is the riding school. Every morning from 6am to 9.30am, all summer long, you can go and watch the horses gallop along the beach through the surf. n nThis coast-line has the largest tides in Europe, and when the tides are very high, you can go a couple of kms up the coast and watch the salt marshes flood, which is impressive to see. The sea where we are is relatively shallow, at all but high tide, and you can see the mussel beds rising out of the sea and eat really fresh mussels in the village restaurant. You will not begin your vacation by making beds or running to the store to get toilet paper! nGarden City is perfect for a family vacation or romantic getaway, away from the traffic and crowds, but still a short drive to attractions. The Garden City Beach pier, restaurants and shops are .7 of a mile south from Waters Edge. The Surfside Beach pier, restaurants, bars and shopping are a short drive (or a pleasant, longer walk) north. Luxury shopping and dining are a few minutes north in the Market Commons area. All the attractions, dining and shopping of Broadway at the Beach, Coastal Grand, and the Myrtle Beach downtown boardwalk are just a bit further north. For a unique cultural experience, Brookgreen Gardens displays one of the world's largest collections of sculpture by American artists in a lush outdoor setting, along with a zoo and butterfly garden.
