Loch Sport provides the closest parking to both the 90 mile ocean beach and the protected waters of The Lakes. Ideal for 1 - 4 adults, plus children (sleeping up to about 7). A small cosy, 2 bedroom, free standing cottage - about 40ish years old (ie not a new house. It is an ageing and cherished family holiday house - not a brand new commercial venture). Master bedroom with a queen sized bed and double bunk (sleeps 4). Second bedroom with a double bed and single bunk (sleeps 3). Cottage has 2 toilets. Fully equipped kitchen, with electric oven, microwave, utensils and crockery etc. Dining, Lounge & outdoor settings, BBQ & undercover verandas - back & front. Smoking is not permitted inside. Smoking is permitted on verandas & outside, providing cigarette buts are disposed of sensibly in the rubbish bin. Well behaved pets who don't go in bedrooms and on couches, with responsible owners are welcomed. Families with young children: Please be aware there are bunk beds in this house with ladders. Also the rear BBQ area is raised up about 1 meter, and has rails that are not 'child resistant'. Also there is no fenced in rear yard area suitable for children. So depending on your children, this may not be an appropriate house for your needs. NOTE: Loch Sport about an hour CLOSER to Melbourne than Lakes Entrance, and offers the best access to the Gippsland Lakes PLUS the 90 Mile Ocean Beach. Location Gippsland Lakes, which is east of Sale and Bairnsdale, is renowned for its temperate weather, being warmer in winter than equivalent latitudes, making it a great escape from Melbourne in winter - or any time. Loch Sport is only 3-4 hours drive from Melbourne, heading towards the warmer climate of NSW, and about an hour closer to Melbourne than Lakes Entrance is. Wattle Grove Cottage is only 250 meters - less than 5 minutes walk through a large house block sized reserve to the sheltered waters of Lake Victoria, with its boating, fishing and sandy lake swimming. From the beach you get among the very best sunset views anywhere from the lakes beach looking to the Great Dividing Mountain Range. 10 minutes push bike ride or 5 minutes drive to the stunning 90 mile surf beach. In Loch Sport you often see kangaroos on front lawns, and parrots in the trees. Short distance to Marina and Hotel complex, and to general stores/bakery/take away food shops, etc. LOCAL AREA: Loch Sport is located on an reclusive sand spit on the southern shore of Lake Victoria, part of the most extensive lake systems in Australia, known as Gippsland Lakes. Loch Sport is the only town which offers the best access to the deep Lake system of Gippsland, combined with one of the shortest walks to the Ninety Mile Ocean Beach and is surrounded by National and Coastal Parkland. In August to November when the park is at its best, catch the spectacular show of wildflowers and one of the best display of native orchids in Australia (Parks Victoria). Kanagroos abound in front yards throughout Loch Sport, while flashes of colour amaze from the diversity of Australian Birds and Parrots. Keep an eye out for a glimpse of Koalas in the trees, the pod of local Dolphins in Lake Victoria, and on a quite and sunny day (especially in Winter) the odd Seal sunning themselves on the Ocean beach. In the shallows of the Lake watch out for sea horses and shrimp, and other wonders of the water. The Lakes provide a perfect venue for water based holiday activities - from toddlers splashing in the shallows of the Lake, to surf fishing in the ocean, ideal for wind surfing, dingy and trailer sailing, cruising, water skiing, lake and ocean fishing. As well as golf, there is mini golf, tennis, lawn bowls and RSL, with Marina and Hotel facilities nearby. Unlike Lakes Entrance which is serviced by Highway No1 through its center, Loch Sport has no through traffic, and is on gentle undulating land with a quiet small holiday village atmosphere (almost like a time warp back to 20 years ago), surrounded by native parks, making it ideal for children and adults for cycling, walking and nature watching (ie birds, kangaroos, koalas). We have a private dock for your boat or jet ski's. The boat launch is adjacent to the property. The property is in a cove and boaters take advantage of the cove's serenity. The interior of the cabin is made of hand cut hemlock wood. Very nice and very clean. We have an enclosed porch and a deck with a picnic table on it. We have park charcoal grills and a fire pit. We are DOG Friendly for a small fee. Amenities Air Conditioning : It gets cool at night but if you want AC we can provide at a fee. The community has walking path around the fresh water lake you can fish there or observe birds, turtles, even otters. Just around the corner on McGregor Blvd in nearby K-Mart plaza is Pinchers restaurant which you may enjoy. There is a WALGREENS PHARMACY open 24 hours just around the corner. TARGET SUPERSTORE (huge) is in just 5 min drive. Sanibel & Captiva Islands (10-15 min drive), there are many choices for adventure. Visit also Bonita Beach, Barefoot Preserve, Tigertail Beach (on Marco Island), and the one at the end of Captiva Island. Those are beautiful natural beaches, with only a few people around. Some let you enter for free if you get there later in the day (at around 4:00pm).. If you have kids, go to the Crab Race and the owner will tell you all about it. THE FUN STUFF Beaches of Estero (Fort Myers Beach) and Sanibel Islands are less than 15 minutes away. Retail outlets, restaurants and grocery are all nearby. Tanger Outlet Mall is about 2 miles away, while Miromar and Prime outlets are about 30 minutes driving by car. There are also a number of water parks, miniature golf facilities in close proximity to the house. A number of nature preserves and State Parks in the area make for great entertainment for young and old alike. Try an air boat ride, paddling a kayak through mangroves, fishing off one of many piers throughout the region, deep sea fishing with a charter company. All within easy and quick access to our home. For art and history buffs, there are museums and art galleries like the Ford and Edison Winter Estates in our downtown, Fort Myers Art Walk, Shell Factory, the Baily-Matthews Shell Museum to name but a very few. Beaches of Estero (Fort Myers Beach) and Sanibel Islands are great and it costs $2/hr to park there. At the end of Captiva Island is a parking area for the beach/ Nature Preserve (only $1/hr parking fee). As the tide goes out, the tidal pools are forming, and you can have fun finding crabs, starfish, minnows, and other creatures in them. You can see manatees swim just before the entrance to Lover's Key State Park. If nature is your interest, make sure to visit Bowditch Point Park. It's located at the northern tip of Estero Island. Here, you will be amazed at how many different things there are to see, both on land and at sea! Before leaving the island, you can stop at one of the restaurants, go shopping in one of the many shops that line the streets, or get fudge for the sweet craving one may desire. Along San Carlos Blvd, be sure to stop at Love Boat Homemade Ice Cream for an unforgettable treat. On Fort Myers Beach you can do Deep Fishing or take a ride on SAILBOAT for the sunset CRUISE, go boating or see fantastic sunsets by the pier. Go to Top of the Mast and the DJ will play any songs that you request and you can dance in the sand! Try The Smokin Oyster Bar for a great groupper sandwich and Anthony's On the Gulf for a nice prime rib dinner outside. Breakfast at The Heavenly Biscuit is hard to beat. Visit Ron Daos, a place for the sports' fans with 65 tv screens and good food, and Busters, another place for the sports' fans with a good menu which offers 4-course daily specials. Visit Nervous Nellie's Restaurant at Fort Meyers Beach. This is just west of the bridge leading to Ft Meyers Beach on the north side. This could be your favorite dining experience as you seat on the deck next to the docks and watch the dolphins playing. The food is awesome also. Joe's Crab Shack on West First Street in Fort Meyers has seating directly over the ocean and the kids will have a good menu to choose from. The Sanibel Causeway makes going to the beach real accessible. Ride to Sanibel and Captiva islands and just check things out. The homes there are so beautiful. Have fun on the BIG M CASINO BOAT. The ride (9 miles out and back) is worth the $6.00 to get on the Sanibel's bridge. You can rent a bike on Sanibel and ride on the walkway around the whole Island. There are some good restaurants close by. There are also a number of water parks, miniature golf facilities in close proximity to the house. GOLF - you are able to use some public and some private, but if you are a serious golfer and do not might driving about 30 min, you can find some challenging courses in Naples and Bonita Springs. Also before you get to Ft.Myers Beach there are 2 MINI GOLFs. There are plenty of places to go. You can go to the Bell Tower Mall which has outdoors shoping, several RESTAURANTS and MOVIE THEATRE with 12 MOVIES showing. When you go onto main Road 41 (about 15 minutes drive) you will see all the big RESTAURANTs, BIG STORES and SPECIALTY OUTLET shops. The HOSPITAL is about 15 min away and called Healthpark. A number of nature preserves and State Parks in the area make for great entertainment for young and old alike. Visit Lover's Key for fantastic shells. Fort Myers Located on the southern bank of the Caloosahatchee River and known as the “City of Palms”, Fort Myers is rich in history, Civil War settlement, and Seminole Indian legacies. Everyone has large hats, glasses with sun nose protectors, hydro-gyro class is included with admission so take advantage of it. People walk in circles around the lake…bring clogs so you do not step on rocks. If you aren’t a good swimmer bring a noodle as it is over 200 ft deep in center but they do have low areas marked off. Every one is friendly and glad to share their stories. Low key resort with a lot of tranquility. Very relaxing and healing. Nice escape from hustle and bustle of every day life. I highly recommend to visit this place to experience it yourself. WARM MINERAL SPRINGS Location: situated approximately halfway between Ft. Myers and Sarasota. Take Exit 34 on I-75 to U.S. 41, then left for 3 miles on San Servando Ave. This site is now a commercial bathing spa advertised as a relief for conditions such as arthritis, rheumatism and skin disorders. Apparently people think the minerals, consisting of high amounts of minerals including chloride, sodium, sulphate, magnesium, potassium, bicarbonate, and calcium, give fountain of youth qualities. Those that drink the water quickly find that the minerals also work as a swift laxative. SCUBA diving is not permitted at this site. Swimmers must stay within the shallow area the is roped off. Sharks which have died sink to the Gulf of Mexico floor. Over time, the cartilage of their bodies disintegrates. Eventually some of the teeth are washed up on shore with tides. Combing these shores to look for the dark gems has always been a favorite pastime of visitors and residents here because these teeth make great collectibles. The teeth range in size from one-eighth inch to three inches and may be black, brown, or gray, depending on the type of minerals, deposits, and vegetation in the soil in which they have been buried. To start your own collection, you have to take a walk along the shore and hopefully discover sharks' teeth, for which the beach is famous countrywide. - Stump Pass Beach State Park is #1 attraction in Englewood The main attraction at this park is the beach and the fact that it has a large amount of sharks teeth just waiting to be found. What makes this beach different are the sharks teeth which are washed up on shore. Many locals walk along the shore line collecting sharks teeth. Most of the teeth are small and black and shaped like a Y, however occasionally you will find a really large one, which is a lovely keepsake of the area! They are usually black because they're so old, but sometimes you can find new teeth that are more gray towards the tip. On occasion, if you are there enough and do enough digging, you can uncover some real monster teeth. These are from the ancient Megladon sharks and can be worth a lot of money depending on the size and condition. It only costs $3 for an all-day park pass versus the 75 cents per hour at Englewood Beach just down the road and it shouldn't be hard to fund a spot as most of the tourism happens farther North up at Siesta Key. Great place to fish, lay on the beach and snorkel. Plus you can leave and come back to watch sunset for no extra cost! Overall, real nice place to go and relax on the beach, swim, eat some lunch, and search for sharks teeth for the day. Best value boat rental I found was at Royal Palm Marina where Mike gave us a crash course in watercraft as we'd never boated before, luckily we didn't crash and all was well. Sleeps 7 in total. This 3-level stone Villa, exquisitely decorated in whitewash cottage flair, is situated on fully-landscaped grounds of 500 m², the corner lot of a six villa gated complex. This romantic and elegantly furnished house has a very welcoming feel. Just 90 minutes away from Athens, it is the ideal solution for families and couples year-round with breathtaking views and swimming, snorkeling, wind-surfing, kite-surfing, water-skiing, hiking and sightseeing opportunities. Entering the house on the 2nd floor is a comfortable living room with a wood-burning functional fireplace, a dining area with a table that can sit 6-8 people, a fully equipped open kitchen with electric stove top, oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, and coffee maker as well as a small washroom. Through the living room you can exit to the large covered balcony (20m2) with breathtaking views of the Argolis bay. The balcony has its own large sitting and dining area that can comfortably hold up to 8 people for dinning and relaxing while taking in the magnificent view. This balcony faces east and is ideal for watching the sunrise or the moonrise over the water. At this level, there is also a fully landscaped back yard with trees and flowers, a cozy and cool area ideal for breakfast during the summer months with great views of the water and surrounding mountains. Through an internal staircase you access the ground level which has three bedrooms and one large bathroom with double sinks, toilet and shower. Outside there is an additional open shower to wash off when returning from swimming, and a washer and collapsible liner to clean and dry your cloths. The first bedroom sleeps up to 2 people, has air conditioning and overlooks the garden and water the 2nd bedroom is ideal for a kid or one person and also has side views of the garden and water the 3rd bedroom in the front of the house is a large room with sea and garden views that can comfortably sleep two people. All bedrooms are fully equipped with closets, bookcases and TVs and overlook the Argolis bay. A family of 4 could ideally sleep on this floor, every child having his/her own bedroom. The upper level is the master suite, a chalet-like big loft (40m2) with a queen metal bed, large desk, fully equipped bathroom with shower as well as closets, air-conditioning, TV and DVR. A great bedroom for couples or parents with older kids who can sleep comfortably on their own at the lower floor. The outdoor areas of the house consist of a fully landscaped garden with trees and blooming flowers. There is a large outdoor kiosk-dining area with a table that can accommodate 10 people for dinner made on the brick barbeque a few steps away. There is plenty of room on the garden for children to play and a basketball that can offer hours of fun for everyone –that is if you can stop looking at the overpowering view... The villa also has central heating, a gardener to take care of the landscape and offers its own filtered water tanks to make sure there is always clean and plenty water. Another privilege is the private parking that has space for up to three cars. There are many beautiful sandy and pebble beaches very close to the villa (500m) for you to explore and plenty of Greek sun to enjoy. The house, located between the villages of Kiveri and Xiropigado, is only 15 min. by car from the historical city of Nafplion, modern Greece's first capital and one of the most picturesque Greek towns. The village of Kiveri is 5 min. away and offers mini-markets and grocery stores, tavernas, a butcher, a bakery and a pharmacy so you can have all the supplies you need during your stay. Nafplion offers numerous historical sights, shopping and eating opportunities although the greatest highlight of the town is the dramatic mountain fortress of Palamidi. Nearby is also Ancient Tiryns and within an hour's drive are some of ancient Greece's major sights such as Ancient Epidavros, Mycenae, Nemea and Ancient Corinth. Daily excursions to the islands of Hydra and Spetses are also available.
