Description:We're renting the couch in our spacious living room to folks needing a place to stay while visiting Austin. My roommate and I have hosted couch surfers and always enjoyed the experience. We're laid back and have between us ten years in Austin, so we can share with you all the inside secrets of the city. Our home is a 5 minute drive to 6th street or an easy bike ride. There's a bus station to downtown 2 blocks away and a passenger train station 5 blocks away. A convenient store across the street is open till midnight and there are restaurants a 5-minute walk away. Supremely located on Bankers Hill. 5 min bike ride to Downtown (or 20 min walk), 5 min walk to Little Italy (to the west, and a few more blocks down to the harbor) and Balboa Park (to the east)(the zoo and museums), 10 min bike ride to Hillcrest and Mission Hills. A little over 2 miles to the airport. Street parking only. You can use my skateboard if you promise not to break or lose it. I'd prefer you not use my bike (you probably won't fit it anyway—I'm kinda short), unless I can confirm your urban cycling abilities (for safety reasons). Almost full kitchen. Stove, oven, microwave, basic blender, fridge, but my espresso machine broke recently. I've just been boiling water and dripping it through the espresso thing. One bathroom. Coin-op washer and dryer outside. Sofabed that fits two. I have two blankets, one pillow. Only thing is I'm right on the flight path. You can see and hear the arriving airplanes. But they stop around midnight. Depending on how you are, length of time to get used to this varies. (My friend sat at my desk for a whole day and got used to it quick.
