Description:We are situated in the heart of beautiful, peaceful countryside, about 45 mins from Cherbourg on the west coast of the Cotentin peninsula. We have three self-catering holiday cottages (or in Normandy, Gites) - The Stables,ChÃ,¨,vrefeuille and Jasmin, all of which are described later. Our farm is a veritable haven of peace and tranquillity where children can play in safety, and help out with our animals. The gites in manche are close to sandy beaches (only 6km), and ideally placed for visiting Mont St Michel, Bayeux, and the Landing Beaches, or house hunting in the cotentin area. The attractive market towns of La Haye du Puits and Portbail, 6km and 8km away, have all the shops you need, including two supermarkets. If you are a fan of French street markets there is one available every day within easy driving distance. There are many fetes, fairs and festivals during the year, or you might just want to enjoy the quietness tennis, golf, horse riding, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, karting and ice-skating, all of which we can help you organise. There is now a network of cycle routes going to La Haye du Puits and Coutances in one direction, and Portbail and Briquebec in the other, all of which can be joined very close to the house. r n r nWe are situated within the Parc des Marais and have a wealth of information available on local fauna and flora, binoculars for observing local bird life, and an 8km round walk. This starts from our house, going via the Mont de Doville and along the marshes, before returning. r n r nThe newest of our three gites, The Stables will comfortably accommodate 6 people. On the ground floor are the entrance hall, large living/dining room, separate kitchen, a bedroom with double bed and its own bathroom (bath, separate shower, bidet, toilet). All rooms are equipped with modern electric heaters, and in addition the lounge has a log-burning stove. The cottage has an automatic washing machine and TV (4 English channels as well as 5 French). The private garden has a paved patio with garden furniture. r n r nCreated from three stables, and the first of our Normandy gites, ChÃ,¨,vrefeuille is a large, spacious cottage designed to accommodate 6/7 people in comfort. Heading east from Cherbourg with its wealth of shops, galleries and state of the art aquarium, the region of Val de Saire, with its ports of St.Vaast and Barfleur, famed for their mussels and the fascinating Ile de Tatihou nature reserve. The plains of the East coast are home to some of Normandy's finest stud farms, and Utah beach, which marks the beginning of the landing beaches, war cemeteries and museums. r n r nInland, the landscape is defined by traditional agricultural practices, which over the centuries have created the 'bocage', a network of small fields, hedgerows and ancient sunken lanes.Normandy boasts many fine manoirs, ChÃ,¢,teaux and gardens, many open to the public r n r nNEW for 2010 - Free Wi-Fi Access r n... more info >>

Description:Casa Hoopoe is a spacious bungalow with 2 large en suite bedrooms. It has a fully fitted kitchen and the lounge leads out to a shaded patio area with steps leading to the roof solarium, offering panoramic views over the countryside. You will be comfortable at any time of year as it has air conditioning for the summer, central heating and a wood burner for the winter months. Here you can enjoy a peaceful, well organised and comfortable break in one of the healthiest places to be. The area has about 325 days of sunshine each year and very mild winters with temperatures rarely falling below 10°C Car hire is recommended but for those who'd prefer not to drive, a wheelchair accessible minibus is available for airport transfers and excursions around the area Local activities and places to visit: The immediate area is ideal for walking, cycling and bird watching and there are 2 golf courses within a 15 minute drive. Within easy driving distance are:- The blue flag beaches of Puerto de Mazarron and the warm lagoon of the Mar Menor offering various water sports The historic cities of Cartagena, Murcia and Lorca The natural reserve of the Sierra Espuña Water parks at Murcia and Vera Mini Hollywood where many spaghetti westerns such as a fist full of dollars were filmed Las Golondrinas is in the middle of everywhere as quoted by guests Guestbook Entries Paul Freeman 2011.9.8 15:57 Yet again Pat & John come up trumps they gave us a great holiday last year and an even better one this year the little problem we had last year had been rectified the food was even better (I did not think Pat’s cooking could get even better but it did) having beer on tap in the bar and bar snacks really is just the icing on the cake and the nothing is too much trouble attitude is wonderful. There is something for everyone within 30 minutes’ drive of Las Golondrinas (which is around the same distance as my out of town supermarket at home) from beaches to scenic drives, market towns to historic treasures and I had a sunshine holiday this year which most people who stayed in the UK did not and for about the same price as going to a UK holiday camp! Oh yes we will be going back to Las Golondrinas next year. Paul Carol & Aidan Freeman Julie Hussain 2011.8.4 00:03 Just returned from 9 days with Pat and John. Had the most amazing relaxing holiday. Pat and John made the perfect hosts and Pat's meals are absolutely first class. The generous wine is also very good. Would recommend to anyone if you are after a peaceful, relaxing, get away from it all break. Just what we all needed and we hope to be back. Julie Hussain Heather Bruton 2011.6.9 17:25 As a hard working nurse I wanted a relaxing holiday and thats what i got fantastic place out in the Spanish countryside.Only 20 mins from port and beaches across beautiful mountains John and Pat make you so welcome accom very good, Only been back just over a week and have booked to go back in september.
