Description:Imagine a place that was brilliantly designed and a real gem. Sounds pretty intriguing, right? Well, you 'll find that those are the exact words used to describe this vacation rental in France by previous guests who just loved it! Bordering the Dronne River, this self-catering accommodation near Chenaud has a peaceful and pleasant setting in the beautiful countryside. Incredible, stunning, and lovingly restored, this is just the place to spend the holidays in France! n n2.6 hectares (6.4 acres): The chateau was built in the 17th century, with the foundation dating back to 1090. In the 18th and 19th century the chateau was enlarged with 2 more parts. All sections are attached to each other with 3-foot thick walls. The different styles of the various constructions are visible, which lends an attractive rambling aspect to the building. For example, in the 17th century the cellar, now used for wine storage, was the kitchen. The original details are still visible. The property is accessed via a quiet little road that connects two small villages. The graveled courtyard leads to the house, barn and garden. The backyard overlooks the winding Dronne River where there is a dock (4m x 7m) where guests can sit and to enjoy the riverside and the canoes passing by. The large garden is completely private, the north, south and west sides consist of typical large French walls, the river Dronne is on the east side of the property. The south of the property has a splendid view of the 12th century Roman church of Chenaud. There is garden furniture in both sunny and shaded areas of the garden. There are huge 100-year old oak and line trees, as well as apple, peach, cherry, prune and chestnut trees. New plantain trees have been planted. At the far end of the garden is a little pond. nThe largest part of the chateau, an apartment named Silver Truffle, was built in the 18th century, and the second unit, La Floreale, dates back to the 17th century. Both sections are tastefully decorated with antique and exquisite fabrics, combined with pieces of modern European art. All bedrooms (except the two in La Floreale) still have the original fireplaces, but due to safety reasons they are not useable. The 19th century part is still under restoration and in use by the owners. Beside the main house is a large barn with two towers and an old well. La Vesunna is an apartment in the barn, which has been beautifully restored and decorated. n nSilver Truffle (275m2): nGround floor: One enters the entrance hall with floor tiles and wooden beams from the 17th century. From this hall one can access the living area, a bedroom, and a bathroom with a washing machine and dryer. The living area includes a large fireplace (wood is available for an extra cost), a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and comfortable seating close to the fireplace. The decor is a combination of antique and modern art. The bedroom has a king-size bed (or twin beds, depending upon the preference), 300-year old oak floors, built-in electronic safe, and a small wash basin. The bathroom, separate from the bedroom, has a WC, shower, sink, washing machine and dryer, and radiant floor heating. nFirst floor: From the hall there is access to the 300-year old staircase to the first floor. From the landing there is a wonderful view over the Dronne River. From here there are three spacious bedrooms. The first bedroom, with a safari theme, has a king-size bed, and an en suite bathroom with a WC, circle-shaped shower, sink and floor heating. This bedroom also has a built-in electronic safe. The second bedroom, decorated in red, has twin beds which can be made into a king-size bed upon request, and an en suite bathroom with WC, shower and sink. There is a built-in electronic safe. The third bedroom has twin beds which can be made into a king-size bed upon request, and an en suite bathroom with WC, shower, sink and radiant floor heating. The bedroom has a built-in electronic safe. There is central heating and each radiator can be individually adjusted. nLa Floreale (120m2): nGround floor: On the ground floor is the living area, including a living/dining room, kitchen an entrance hall and guest bathroom. From the entrance hall one can access the guest bathroom with a WC and sink, as well as the washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board (located in a closet). Also from the entrance one can access the living/dining room and the fully equipped kitchen. The living room is the oldest part of the chateau, dating back to 1626. The living/dining room decor is modern with antique elements and the room features a wood stove with the furniture surrounding the stove. From the kitchen you can access a large balcony where you can enjoy your breakfast in the morning sun. There is a built-in electronic safe. nFirst floor: A staircase goes to the first floor, where there are two double bedrooms, each with king-size beds (or twin beds, depending upon the preference). There are two en suite bathrooms, each with a shower, sink and WC. There is central heating. nLa Vesunna (90m2): nGround floor: This accommodation is in the old barn. From the entrance one can access the guest bathroom with WC and sink and the laundry room with a washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board. Description:The upper floor is typically Spanish styled, with open plan living and very high beamed ceilings. The furnishings are contemporary and provide a real home from home with seating and dining for eight people. The raised breakfast area seats eight, and overlooks the fully fitted German kitchen. A new gas hob, electric oven and washing machine have been fitted this year. In addition the kitchen provides a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, bread-maker, paella/pizza pan, toaster and ice cream maker are provided . The three bedrooms have all have comfortable beds, modern glass fronted wardrobes and ample storage space. There are two shower rooms upstairs, an indoor family one and a private hot and cold outdoor shower room outside next to the pool. The large glazed Naya gives an addition living space for the whole family to relax. It is a lovely area to cool down after a swim. The Costa Blanca has wonderful clear skies and starry nights and sitting on the Naya is a truly wonderful experience as the night time views are very impressive. Alfresco dining can be enjoyed in the shady courtyard or on the terraces or informally on the Naya so there is somewhere to sit comfortably whatever the weather and still enjoy the views . Guests are welcome to pick from the fruiting trees, lemons, figs and medlar plums (Nisparros) to enjoy home-made lemonade or a slice in a G&T. The lower floor boasts a completely self contained apartment, which is ideal for larger groups, maybe to accommodate grandparents, young couples or even teenagers. The apartment is never let separately and is only available in addition to the main house. The apartment has a comfortable L-shaped open plan lounge, dining and kitchen areas, a very large bedroom which has an English double divan bed, a shower room and a small alfresco seating area. There is a comfortable full sized double sofa bed in the sitting room. The small kitchen is equipped with electric hob, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. There is a separate Sky Freesat connection in the apartment, a Cd player and radio. The house is safe for children as the garden and rear courtyard are totally enclosed. The pool area can be shut off from the garden and house which is an important point to consider if there are young children in the party. Further details indoors: There are three shower rooms, but no bathrooms. Freesat through Sky allows a good choice of English speaking programmes, guests are welcome to bring along their own skycard to enjoy even more programmes. Coolboxes and thermos flasks are provided, so take advantage of these and enjoy the age old Spanish pastime of picnicking on the beach, on the wonderful mountains or in the countryside. A selection of board games, drawing materials, DVDs and play things are available in the casa for the children. Beach and pool playthings are also provided but please note that they are subject to the usual wear and tear but are often suplemented by guests over the holiday period. I do not guarentee that all inflatable toys are not punctured! The doors and windows are fitted with security grills, mosquito screens, and in addition, the bedrooms have metal night shutters, and quiet fans. For guests staying during the winter months there is a superb wood burning stove and underfloor central heating. In addition there are marble slab heaters which provide additional heat and a portable gas heater for the Naya area. Further details outdoors: The private south facing solar heated, pool provides real luxury. The solar heated water is some six degrees hotter than the surrounding ambiant temperature which allows for a longer swimming season. Usually from April to late October but this does depend of the weather as rain cools the pool. The pool is gated and can be totally shut off from the house and garden and is graduated in depth from 3ft to 7ft. There are new extra long steps which reach to the bottom of the shallow end. The house is safe for children as the garden and rear courtyard are totally enclosed. The mature trees also give good shade and privacy. There are several bars, which provide snacks and menu del dia and restauants on the Monte Pego development, all between 1km to 3km from the Casa. In addition there is a indoor heated pool, a beauty therapy studio and an art gallery. Monte Pego has its own tennis courts and paddel (short tennis) courts, petanc and bowls areas. On Saturday evenings in the summer, the Monte Pego restaurant organises fantastic outdoor BBQs with Live music and dancing, an event not to be missed as the food, is out of this world. The Bella Vista club has many evenings of entertainment, and both bars broadcast sports fixtures in English. Within a short drive, are many unspoilt villages all having their own unique markets or rastros. The holiday maker is really spoilt for choice as the nearest blue flag beach is only 10 mins away travelling through the orange groves and paddy fields. This part of the Costa Blanca is well known for its miles and miles of safe, golden sandy beaches and quiet private coves, all within a short drive away. Children can have great fun exploring the winding paths through the trees in the rear garden which has over 100 protected indigenous palms. The garden has several fruit trees, lemons, figs, persimmon, pommegranite, medlar plums (Nisparros) and para-guava. Guests are invited to pick the fruit and enjoy! Accessed from the sitting room through French windows or from the garden, there is an enclosed gated walled courtyard, which provides a safe play area for small children and shady area for alfresco dining. A gas BBQ is provided Guests have plenty of choice to sit in the sunny or shady areas. There are tables and chairs for dining, sunbeds and coffee tables by the pool, and beneath the trees, a bench to enjoy a quiet moment in the shade. The lower level apartment has its own private alfresco area with table and chairs. Pool inflatables, and beach equipment are provided at the beginning of the season, but I request that these are replaced if damaged in fairness to other guests. I do not guarentee that they have not been punctured! Further details Usually swimming is comfortably warm being some six degrees hotter than the ambient temperature, often swimming can begin from the beginning of April to the end of October, and sometimes even into November. However, it should be noted that the pool temperature is affected by the amount of rainfall and coolness of the evenings. Description:Chalet Grand Bec is located in a quiet French lotissement a few minutes walk from the centre of the charming and conveniently located Alpine village of Bozel, an ideal base for both winter (Courchevel and La Plagne ski resorts within 15 mins reach) and summer holidays alike. In the winter, aside from the nearby world class Alpine ski slopes, there are numerous cross country ski trails around Bozel and surrounding are (e.g. Champagny Le Haut). In the heart of the Vanoise National Park (perfect for walking, cycling, mountain biking, triathlon, fishing, paragliding etc.), Bozel benefits from a beautiful small lake with a small family beach and bar/restaurant. This makes Bozel an ideal base for triathlon training, having access to open water swimming, numerous running routes and both road and off-road cycling. Bozel also has a range of local shops and restaurants, sufficient for all your holiday needs with the larger towns of Moutiers (twice weekly market), Albertville, Annecy and Chambery within easy drive for the more adventurous. Other local amenities include a 400m athletics running track, sports field, tennis courts and children's play area - all with the most stunning views imaginable! Chalet Grand Bec was bought by the the Whitwell family 3 years ago following a year spent living in Bozel (long enough to appreciate its understated charm). Renovated to a high standard, the chalet has 4 bedrooms (2 double, 1 with en-suite and 2 twins( though the second twin comprises a single bed and a double bed at mezzanine level which would easily accommodate 3 children if required). The spacious downstairs has an open plan feel with a new kitchen with large table and comfortable seating for 8-9 in the lounge which benefits from a roaring wood burner (wood provided). A large decked terrace is reached through the glass sliding doors from where stunning panoramic views of Courchevel and the surrounding Alps (including the Grand Bec) can be enjoyed. There is a TV room (UK freeview channels only DVD, French channels available on separate TV DVD in lounge) in the basement area plus a ski boot warmer and ample space for skis, boots etc. There is a table tennis table available for use in the integrated garage. Further details outdoors: Apart from the large garage there is ample space outside for 2 cars. There is a small, natural (i.e. not manicured!) garden to the rear of the chalet. The front door is reached via steps to the side of the house so wheelchair access would be challenging. There is also access to the property via the garage (the chalet is built on a a slope with the garage, TV room, shower room and boot warmer in the basement) though there is also access to the house via the garage from the road. Sunday changeover. Will consider short breaks though weekend breaks to finish on Sunday (e.g. arrive Wed evening leave Sunday) to avoid eating into 2 weeks of letting. No pets allowed and strictly no smoking except on the terrace. Refundable breakages deposit of £100 required on booking, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection). 25% of rental fee due on booking with balance due six weeks before your stay. No cancellation refunds unless chalet successfully re-let (subject to £50 admin fee) The property and area is great for kids (we have four!) but toddlers and younger children may need close supervision as there are no stair gates or other toddler specific provisions NB: Prices may be subject to change at the advertiser's discretion.
