Description:A delightful recently renovated cottage situated in the beautiful Vale of Lorton, with log burning stove housed in an Inglenook fire place. A marvelous base from which to explore the Lake District. Ideal for groups of walkers or families who may wish to use the rainbow trout fishing facilities which the owners provide free of charge. nThe village of High Lorton nestles at the foot of Whinlatter Pass within the Buttermere and Lorton Valley, a beautiful and much less frequented area of the National Park yet only a short drive from the bustling market town of Keswick. Crummock Water, Loweswater, Buttermere and Ennerdale are very easily accessed from High Lorton. nScales Cottage has views over the valley towards the Loweswater fells and the hills around Whinlatter Pass. The Whinlatter Forest Park with its new Go Ape Forest Adventure and mountain bike trails is only a five minute drive from the cottage. The village of Lorton has a traditional shop and pub. Nearby in the village of Loweswater the award winning Kirkstile Inn can be found with log fires, traditional ales and excellent meals. nScales Cottage is a charming and characterful 17th century cottage which has been lovingly restored retaining many original features including an Inglenook fire place and slate floors. Description:A splendid recently upgraded 18th century stone cottage with lovely garden. Situated in an elevated position in the pretty village of Caldbeck. Sleeping six it is ideal for families or groups of friends wishing to explore the area. nEllwood House is an 18th century stone built cottage located in an elevated position in the village of Caldbeck in the northern fells of the Lake District with open views to the rear of the house. High Pike can be seen immediately due south of the cottage in the picturesque expanse known colloquially as 'Back o' Skiddaw'. Just 100 yards across the field below you will find Gill Beck which runs through the village with a footpath just behind. The area is great for exploring on foot or bike, and the Cumbria Way and Reivers Route both pass through the village. For those who still have energy left from walking the fells, tennis courts are available for booking just 200 metres away. The local pub serves excellent bar meals and there are many more places to eat in the surrounding villages. nThe cottage has benefited from a major upgrade which has included the installation of a cast iron wood burner, which provides a wonderful focal point and is great to cuddle-up in front of after a day on the fells, and fitting of a solid oak floor.
