Description:Factoid: translated, Mesopotamia means between three rivers. Since Basecamp 26 is poised near the confluence of the Sandy River to the north, the Salmon River and Still Creek to the south, you could technically say it 's in Mesopotamia. However, this charming home - reminiscent of a Swiss Chalet - is actually in picturesque Rhododendron and, as its topography would suggest, is a fisherperson 's paradise. Little Rhododendron, however, grew up with the ski industry, and considering its proximity to five ski resorts (including Mt. Hood Meadows, about 28 minutes away), it 's also a great place for winter sports as well. It 's the perfect alpine retreat for skiers, snowboarders and summer enthusiasts alike. The house also features a new private hot tub that is the perfect place to wind down after a day 's adventure! nYou 'll swear you 're in a chalet in the Swiss Alps when you stay in this 1828 square foot home, decorated with classic heavy timbers and intricate woodwork. A gas fireplace warms the living room with steady heat without poking at logs (central heating throughout). Skis and bindings decorate the walls in a fun and inviting way. Come hang your coats on the bindings, sit on the plush couches and relax as you look out at the forest behind the home and enjoy good company. There 's a TV with Cable and a VCR/DVD player as well so you can catch up on the movies you 've been wanting to see. And load up the iPod: there 's a dock for that as well. nEnjoy a spirited foosball match in the game room, all under the light from a fun chandelier made of antlers and the warmth of the wood stove. Plenty of room for spectators on the two couches and love seat. It also has a large, five pair boot/glove dryer that will get you dry and back up on the slopes the next day. One of the couches is a sleeper sofa, and there 's a half bath in the game room as well. nA body can work up an appetite after a day on the slopes, hiking on the many trails around Rhododendron, or even bird watching. No problem. This home has a fully stocked kitchen with stainless steel appliances, including a huge fridge and a dishwasher for fast, easy clean up. Enjoy your meal around the wooden dining table with room for six. If you 'd like to eat out, check for local restaurants on the free WiFi. Weather permitting, step through the big, sliding glass doors onto the deck. nWith three bedrooms, the sleeper sofa in the game room, a queen air mattress with an electric pump, and two twin cots, up to 12 tired vacationers can bed down for the night. The bedroom on the main floor has a charming queen sleigh bed with a beautiful acorn and oak leaf detail and a large, rustic style dresser. Down the hall is a large bathroom with a stand up shower that is easier for guests with mobility difficulties. On the same floor is a separate laundry room with a washer and dryer and more of the great ski bindings to hang your ski gear to dry. nUpstairs you 'll find a king sized sleigh bed and large closet space. Across the hall on the reclaimed wood floors is a room with two twin beds and large closets. In the middle of the bedrooms is a separate bathroom with an A frame window over the bathtub to let the sun dance on your face as the water warms your bones, tired from a hard day of fun. nWith its proximity to three rivers, Rhododendron is a haven for fly-fishing with a reputable outfitter just down the road in town and down the road in nearby Welches. Rhododendron is also a great place for bird watchers with two of the official Oregon Cascades Birding Trails nearby. And of course there 's plenty of skiing. (Take advantage of the special Vacasa offer at Mount Hood Meadows!) In summer, enjoy hiking, boating, rafting, climbing, horseback riding, fishing and more. Oh, and no need to leave pooch behind. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.... more info >>
