Description:We are situated in the heart of beautiful, peaceful countryside, about 45 mins from Cherbourg on the west coast of the Cotentin peninsula. We have three self-catering holiday cottages (or in Normandy, Gites) - The Stables,ChÃ,¨,vrefeuille and Jasmin, all of which are described later. Our farm is a veritable haven of peace and tranquillity where children can play in safety, and help out with our animals. The gites in manche are close to sandy beaches (only 6km), and ideally placed for visiting Mont St Michel, Bayeux, and the Landing Beaches, or house hunting in the cotentin area. The attractive market towns of La Haye du Puits and Portbail, 6km and 8km away, have all the shops you need, including two supermarkets. If you are a fan of French street markets there is one available every day within easy driving distance. There are many fetes, fairs and festivals during the year, or you might just want to enjoy the quietness tennis, golf, horse riding, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, karting and ice-skating, all of which we can help you organise. There is now a network of cycle routes going to La Haye du Puits and Coutances in one direction, and Portbail and Briquebec in the other, all of which can be joined very close to the house. r n r nWe are situated within the Parc des Marais and have a wealth of information available on local fauna and flora, binoculars for observing local bird life, and an 8km round walk. This starts from our house, going via the Mont de Doville and along the marshes, before returning. r n r nThe newest of our three gites, The Stables will comfortably accommodate 6 people. On the ground floor are the entrance hall, large living/dining room, separate kitchen, a bedroom with double bed and its own bathroom (bath, separate shower, bidet, toilet). Upstairs there are two further bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two single beds, and a shower room with toilet. All rooms are equipped with modern electric heaters, and in addition the lounge has a log-burning stove. The cottage has an automatic washing machine and TV (4 English channels as well as 5 French). The private garden has a paved patio with garden furniture. r n r nCreated from three stables, and the first of our Normandy gites, ChÃ,¨,vrefeuille is a large, spacious cottage designed to accommodate 6/7 people in comfort. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room with wood-burning stove and kitchen area. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and has an en-suite showeroom equipped for wheelchair users. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, a shower room and separate toilet. The gite now has full oil-fired central heating. The gÃ,®,te is accessible to wheelchair users and has been inspected and approved by the Association des ParalysÃ,©,s de France. r nThe gÃ,®,te has a washing machine and TV (4 English channels). r n r nOutside is a large stone patio area with a table and benches. Comfortable garden chairs and a barbecue are provided. r n r nJasmin, our 2 bedroom Normandy gite is able to accommodate 4 people. Downstairs there is the living area, separated from the well equipped kitchen, a shower room with basin, and separate toilet. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. Electric heating is provided in all rooms. r nThe gÃ,®,te has a washing machine and TV (4 English channels). r n r nOutside is a grassy area with table and comfortable garden chairs. r nA barbecue is also available. r n r nThe peninsula of La Manche is surrounded by over 200km of fantastic and varied coastline. Starting on the west coast, the bay of Mont St. Michel sweeps round to the glamorous spa resort of Granville with its Christian Dior Museum and gardens. Some of the finest oysters are farmed in and around Agon-Coutainville. Miles of accessible and clean sandy beaches stretch up to the chic boutique ports of Barneville-Carteret. Following the route des Caps, or the sentier des douaniers (coastal footpath) is a great way to explore the cliffs and coves of the pink granite coast up to the rugged landscape of La Hague. Heading east from Cherbourg with its wealth of shops, galleries and state of the art aquarium, the region of Val de Saire, with its ports of St.Vaast and Barfleur, famed for their mussels and the fascinating Ile de Tatihou nature reserve. There are two shower rooms upstairs, an indoor family one and a private hot and cold outdoor shower room outside next to the pool. The large glazed Naya gives an addition living space for the whole family to relax. It is a lovely area to cool down after a swim. The Costa Blanca has wonderful clear skies and starry nights and sitting on the Naya is a truly wonderful experience as the night time views are very impressive. Alfresco dining can be enjoyed in the shady courtyard or on the terraces or informally on the Naya so there is somewhere to sit comfortably whatever the weather and still enjoy the views . Guests are welcome to pick from the fruiting trees, lemons, figs and medlar plums (Nisparros) to enjoy home-made lemonade or a slice in a G&T. The lower floor boasts a completely self contained apartment, which is ideal for larger groups, maybe to accommodate grandparents, young couples or even teenagers. The apartment is never let separately and is only available in addition to the main house. The apartment has a comfortable L-shaped open plan lounge, dining and kitchen areas, a very large bedroom which has an English double divan bed, a shower room and a small alfresco seating area. There is a comfortable full sized double sofa bed in the sitting room. The small kitchen is equipped with electric hob, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. There is a separate Sky Freesat connection in the apartment, a Cd player and radio. The house is safe for children as the garden and rear courtyard are totally enclosed. The pool area can be shut off from the garden and house which is an important point to consider if there are young children in the party. Further details indoors: There are three shower rooms, but no bathrooms. Freesat through Sky allows a good choice of English speaking programmes, guests are welcome to bring along their own skycard to enjoy even more programmes. Coolboxes and thermos flasks are provided, so take advantage of these and enjoy the age old Spanish pastime of picnicking on the beach, on the wonderful mountains or in the countryside. A selection of board games, drawing materials, DVDs and play things are available in the casa for the children. Beach and pool playthings are also provided but please note that they are subject to the usual wear and tear but are often suplemented by guests over the holiday period. I do not guarentee that all inflatable toys are not punctured! The doors and windows are fitted with security grills, mosquito screens, and in addition, the bedrooms have metal night shutters, and quiet fans. For guests staying during the winter months there is a superb wood burning stove and underfloor central heating. In addition there are marble slab heaters which provide additional heat and a portable gas heater for the Naya area. Further details outdoors: The private south facing solar heated, pool provides real luxury. The solar heated water is some six degrees hotter than the surrounding ambiant temperature which allows for a longer swimming season. Usually from April to late October but this does depend of the weather as rain cools the pool. The pool is gated and can be totally shut off from the house and garden and is graduated in depth from 3ft to 7ft. There are new extra long steps which reach to the bottom of the shallow end. The house is safe for children as the garden and rear courtyard are totally enclosed. The mature trees also give good shade and privacy. There are several bars, which provide snacks and menu del dia and restauants on the Monte Pego development, all between 1km to 3km from the Casa. In addition there is a indoor heated pool, a beauty therapy studio and an art gallery. Monte Pego has its own tennis courts and paddel (short tennis) courts, petanc and bowls areas. On Saturday evenings in the summer, the Monte Pego restaurant organises fantastic outdoor BBQs with Live music and dancing, an event not to be missed as the food, is out of this world. The Bella Vista club has many evenings of entertainment, and both bars broadcast sports fixtures in English. Within a short drive, are many unspoilt villages all having their own unique markets or rastros. The holiday maker is really spoilt for choice as the nearest blue flag beach is only 10 mins away travelling through the orange groves and paddy fields. This part of the Costa Blanca is well known for its miles and miles of safe, golden sandy beaches and quiet private coves, all within a short drive away. Children can have great fun exploring the winding paths through the trees in the rear garden which has over 100 protected indigenous palms. The garden has several fruit trees, lemons, figs, persimmon, pommegranite, medlar plums (Nisparros) and para-guava. Guests are invited to pick the fruit and enjoy! Accessed from the sitting room through French windows or from the garden, there is an enclosed gated walled courtyard, which provides a safe play area for small children and shady area for alfresco dining. A gas BBQ is provided Guests have plenty of choice to sit in the sunny or shady areas. There are tables and chairs for dining, sunbeds and coffee tables by the pool, and beneath the trees, a bench to enjoy a quiet moment in the shade. The lower level apartment has its own private alfresco area with table and chairs. Pool inflatables, and beach equipment are provided at the beginning of the season, but I request that these are replaced if damaged in fairness to other guests. I do not guarentee that they have not been punctured! Further details Usually swimming is comfortably warm being some six degrees hotter than the ambient temperature, often swimming can begin from the beginning of April to the end of October, and sometimes even into November. However, it should be noted that the pool temperature is affected by the amount of rainfall and coolness of the evenings. A welcome pack or additional grocery shopping can be arranged with the owner, It is so much nicer to relax after your long journey without worrying about your shopping. Just email your grocery requirements and your shopping will be delivered ready for your stay. Payment for shopping is to be made on your arrival. A cleaning and laundry service can also be arranged. Guests are met and shown around the house by the British Housekeeper who is a great source of local information. The prices are inclusive of house preparation and departure cleaning, bed linen and towels, water and electricity services, gas for the BBQ, pool heating and WiFi internet connection. A 25% deposit is required on booking, with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to departure with a £200 refundable damage deposit. Description:In La Lande Sud there are 6 double bedrooms all with bathrooms in the main house and 2 double ensuite bedrooms in the annexe. Each bathroom comprises either bath or shower, basin and wc. You enter the front door under a covered porch into the hall. On the left there is a twin bedded room and bathroom opposite. The hallway leads into a large dining room with French doors opening onto the covered outside dining terrace with barbecues. An archway from the dining room leads to the kitchen which is fully equipped for large groups, with built in oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and Rayburn stove. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in a separate laundry room. The dining room leads into a large sitting room with beamed ceiling, satellite TV/DVD and video player, and wood burning stove for winter accommodation (the house is also centrally heated). Two sets of double doors open out onto the terrace and garden with superb views overlooking the main swimming pool, valley and countryside. Stairs from the sitting room lead to stunning new master bedroom and bathroom, with panoramic views on 3 sides. Also from the dining room, a doorway leads into the other part of the house with second kitchen/utility room with cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave, and TV/games room with pool table. Off this room is a twin bedded room with bathroom and separate wc. A spiral staircase leads to stunning dual aspect double bedroom with balcony and bathroom. Downstairs is a sunroom with access to twin bedded room with bathroom, and a double room with bathroom and French doors to a covered terrace. From the sunroom there is also a glazed door which leads to steps up to the second pool and terrace. In a separate single story building near the front door there is one double room with bathroom, and a twin bedded room with bathroom. There is a small covered terrace outside this annexe. La Lande Sud is a lovely spacious house offering modern living with character. The 2 acres of grounds are mainly mown grass with mature trees and shrubs, and childrens play area at the top of the drive from where there are panoramic views. Both pools are fenced for safety, and are on different levels separated by high hedges. New for 2009 was a stunning new main pool and terrace, with separate toddlers pool which is also fitted with hydro massage jets for the not so young. The pool has underwater lighting and the terrace is illuminated for evening relaxation. There is also a second 10 x 4 metre pool with sun terrace so that everyone can enjoy a quiet swim. New for 2010 - we have converted 2 upstairs bedrooms into one large new master bedroom with new en suite bathroom, and panoramic views on 3 sides. Total capacity therefore is reduced to 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, but with upgraded facilities. Also new for 2010 is a full size pool table in TV/games room, and air hockey and table football in poolside games room. Situated in a perfect setting on a hillside with panoramic views of the valley and hills beyond (see below), the property is close to the small hamlets of Bouteilles St Sebastien, St Paul Lizonnne and Palluaud which have restaurants and bars. It is also 5 kms from St Severin and Verteillac, which have a wide range of shops and amenities. The old market towns of Riberac and Aubeterre are approximately 15 minutes away the Friday market in Riberac is reputedly the largest in Perigord. The house was built in the mid 80s in the Perigordine style using old materials where possible, and combines the best of modern facilities with traditional style. The approach to the house is from a small lane at the top of the hill. The driveway goes down the hill to the house through extensive grounds which are mainly laid out to mature trees and shrubs, and features a childrens play area. The main new pool and terrace is below the house, and the second pool is to the right of the house. The house is suitable for large parties, or smaller groups requiring spacious accommodation.
