The location is great as it is outside the hustle and bustle of the downtown area and is conveniently located by a bus stop which takes you to the metro station if you do not have a vehicle. Sept 13 2009 Staying with Mike and Eileen was an amazing experience. The room was everything they said it would be, and the hospitality they showed could not have been better. They were very helpful and informative and they made an excellent breakfast every morning. These two are the model for all other BnB hosts. It was great experience to stay at Mike and Eileen's house. They were pleasant and really helpful hosts, taking care of the all the details one might think of. The house is also really amazing. Comfortable, on a great location close to everything, and in a beautiful and in quiet neighborhood. Anyone who travel to Washington DC should seriously consider staying at their house. I've traveled all over the world and met many people, and these guys are amongst the most decent and genuine people I had the pleasure of encountering, I'd recommend them to anyone. I've have had nothing positive experiences with, but this stay was far and away my best experience. Their attention to detail, their set-up, and their service oriented personal touch was great, and it was akin to a true bed and breakfast experience. Sung Jul 11, 2009 Michael and Eileen were super-friendly host! They were like long-time known next door neighbor. Greenacres room is located is the basement which has huge family room including sofa, work-out and running machine, fireplace. VERY CLEAN! Eillen made a full breakfast even very early in the morning even if I had to leave early. Her dishes were delicious, it was so home-made! I will recommend my friends as well with no doubt! Thanks for the great hospitality, Michael and Eileen! Sung two thumbs up!!! Me, Steve and his daughter stayed Greenacres room for 6 days, huge space for 3 of us. Eileen is a great chef, breakfast was amazing, healthy and delicious!!! We felt very welcome at their house. We will definitley go back to Michael and Eileen's house next time. You'll note our monthly rates are much cheaper than weekly rates as we prefer medium-longer term guests.**** There are 10 bedrooms in total, two kitchens, three bathrooms and some rooms have their own showers. The smallest rooms can sleep two and the largest rooms can take six in dorm style, or a small family. There is a coin operated washing machine and dryer on site. There may be up to 20 people in the guesthouse sharing all facilities and everybody is expected to help keep kitchens and bathrooms clean.Room 5 is a gorgeous large, clean room. Suitable for one to three guests (bunks would be set up if there are three guests) it has new carpet tiles, a full size fridge, an Ikea wardrobe, a small dining table and a bench seat. It is on the opposite side of the hallway to the highway and thus is a little quieter. The guesthouse is above a shop in the warehouse/industrial area close to Sydney Airport and it is on the corner of some very busy streets. If you find noise in the house is an issue you can ask for free earplugs but most people get used to it very quickly. There is street parking behind the building. Although the actual block the guesthouse is on is very ugly and so is the immediate area, it is a fantastic location if you are adventurous and prepared to walk a bit, or use public transport. It's less than 5kms from the airport - a taxi is very cheap to the house. It's is also only 5kms from University of Sydney and UTS. It's 8kms from University of New South Wales and buses to both places take less than half an hour. We are fifteen minutes walk from St Peters or Sydenham train stations (1.5kms) but the buses are directly outside the door so you should experiment to see what you prefer – you can buy a weekly ticket that works on buses and trains. It's about 6kms to Central Station in the city. We are also only about 4kms from RPA Hospital. You are less than five minutes walk to a small shop, a Hungry Jacks(Burger King), a KFC and a McDonalds. Opposite the house is a pub with restaurant, events,music and cheap drinks. Fifteen minutes walk takes to you a beautiful big parkland area with a cafe, or to the local shopping centre of Marrickville with the nearest big supermarket. Thirty minutes walk or a short bus ride takes you to some very cool shops and bars in Marrickville(Marrickville Rd) or Newtown(King St). It would take you 20 minutes to drive to the beaches or an hour by public transport. There is usually great heat, hot water and a working elevator. And this is New York, so there may even be a movie crew around the building some days. It's a real New York experience.
