There 's Dstv (in case of important sporting or cultural events!), dvd 's, music, lots of books and plenty of games and teddies and toys and a great dress-up box for the children. It also has a super outside place to braai and it 's own swimming pool and sauna. And lovely views over the valley across to the elephant sanctuary. n nThere are two bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom which is a kingsize double and the children 's room which is twin bedded, and one bedroom downstairs (also twin bedded), tucked away under the house. Both bathrooms are upstairs. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower, and the second bathroom, has a shower only. n nThe garden at That Place is prolific in birdlife, so for birders, it 's a real joy. There are, occasionally, naughtly little vervet monkeys, so do keep your food inside. n nOn lovely sunny days (of which there are many) it 's perfect to sit out at your private pool, on a sunlouger absorbing the quite of the trees or the calls of the birds and hello 's of the monkeys aross the valley. n nEvenings are great fun at That Place - with the undercover barbeque area (which we call a 'Braai ')and a very long wooden table. You can even spend a most informative hour with the snakes and crocodiles at Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary. Plus there are those glorious golden sandy beaches at Nature 's Valley, Keurbooms and Plettenberg Bay. The nearest blue flag beaches of Grottammare, San Benedetto and Pedaso are 25 minutes away and the National Park which is popular with walkers and mountain bikers is 35 minutes inland. The village has a stunning cathedral that was built in the 15th century on the instruction of Pope Sisto V who lived in the village. The ceiling of the cathedral is a replica of parts of the sistine chapel in Rome (without the queues)! With a population of about 2500 the village is well serviced with a number of shops, restaurants, local bars, a post office, newsagent, grocer, butcher, bank etc. Not much English is spoken in this region but you'll find this is half the fun of being here and lots of arm waving and pointing with the odd word goes a very long way. Many of our guests enjoy the atmosphere that the village offers and this is why they return time and time again and have become friends. The village is 25 minutes from the provincial capital of Ascoli Piceno which is famous for its architecture, old travertine marble squares, churches, museums and is thought to be older than Rome. It is also packed with boutiques and cafe bars so is perfect for people watching. The Frasassi Caves, thought to be the largest limestone caves in Europe are well worth a visit - they have frequent tours during the summer months. Rome can easily be visited on a day trip and there are air conditioned buses from Grottamare to the centre of Rome daily. You will need a car when you are here as public transport is limited to the coast. Our nearest airports are Ancona and Pescara both of which are just over an hour away by car and are serviced by Ryanair.
