Accessibility The villa has some steps so would not be suitable for the disabled or elderly with walking difficulties. From the road there are 11 steps down to the top apartment entrance. Then some more to the middle and down to the pool. Outside Privat pool (sole use of clients) 7 x 3m. Adequate sunbeds, tables and chairs. BBQ, table tennis, trampoline area. Lots of terraces for sunbathing or just looking out to sea. The villa enjoys sun all day , you can watch the sun rise and set from the terraces. You can see any fireworks from fiestas too. Booking notes A 30 % deposit is required to secure the booking(non refundable). Bank transfer in euros is preferred. The balance, plus a 300 euro damage deposit is payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. The damage deposit covers damage, breakages or any excessive cleaning. This will be refunded 2 weeks after the rental period upon making a satisfactory check on the villa. Special rates apply for a stay of more than 2 weeks. During off season we also rent just the lower 3 bedroomed apartment . Please enquire for prices. House swap We would be willing to house swap with a house that sleeps 6. Not during the Summer season but any other time. Changeover day Changeover day is normally a Saturday but can be flexible. The nearest blue flag beaches of Grottammare, San Benedetto and Pedaso are 25 minutes away and the National Park which is popular with walkers and mountain bikers is 35 minutes inland. The village has a stunning cathedral that was built in the 15th century on the instruction of Pope Sisto V who lived in the village. The ceiling of the cathedral is a replica of parts of the sistine chapel in Rome (without the queues)! With a population of about 2500 the village is well serviced with a number of shops, restaurants, local bars, a post office, newsagent, grocer, butcher, bank etc. Not much English is spoken in this region but you'll find this is half the fun of being here and lots of arm waving and pointing with the odd word goes a very long way. Many of our guests enjoy the atmosphere that the village offers and this is why they return time and time again and have become friends. The village is 25 minutes from the provincial capital of Ascoli Piceno which is famous for its architecture, old travertine marble squares, churches, museums and is thought to be older than Rome. It is also packed with boutiques and cafe bars so is perfect for people watching. The Frasassi Caves, thought to be the largest limestone caves in Europe are well worth a visit - they have frequent tours during the summer months. Rome can easily be visited on a day trip and there are air conditioned buses from Grottamare to the centre of Rome daily. You will need a car when you are here as public transport is limited to the coast. Our nearest airports are Ancona and Pescara both of which are just over an hour away by car and are serviced by Ryanair. It is 3 km from the long sandy beach of Alcamo Marina, a half hour from Zingaro natural reserve and from Scopello. The apartment is located in a typical Sicilian countryside and is within a large fenced area full of olive trees that come up in contact with the house. There are many different fruit trees, also. The house consists of a kitchen, bathroom, single bedroom, one double and, also, one large room with separate entrance, which can be used as a double bedroom or as living room. Outside is a large open space in the covered porches or trees to stay immersed in nature. There is an outbuilding with kitchen on the veranda, wood oven, barbecue and shower. Guided excursions on donkeys along rural paths to reach the medieval castle of Calatubo. In 10 minutes you arrive to a Carrefour supermarket, to a big bar and to the entrance of the motorway. In less than an hour to get to Palermo, Trapani (cheap Ryanair flights from all over Europe) and Mazara del Vallo. In 15 minutes you reach Castellammare del Golfo and Alcamo Balestrate.
