Description:This holiday home is a self catering house with 180 degrees sea views and is located 100 meters from the bathing area St James Tidal Pool. Built in 1918 this home has retained some features while being refurbished with modern in facilities. Twee Gevels (Two Gabels) is situated halfway between Kalk Bay and Muizenberg and offers a spacious and luxurious home optimizing the uninterrupted sea views while being in close proximity of all tourist attractions False Bay area has to offer. Twee Gevels is situated across the road from the beach with closest swimming area 100 meters away. The living areas of this grand old lady as well as three bedrooms offer sea views. A sea facing veranda across the width of the house is ideal for outdoor living while a library/2nd lounge with authentic fire place provides a cosy space in less than perfect weather conditions. The villa has been furnished to reflect the colours and clean lines of the ocean. Open living spaces characterize this home with kitchen, lounge and dining room all flowing on to veranda with spectacular views. Main Bedroom: (Queen) offers 45 sq meters of space and en suite with bath, shower, wc, bidet and basin. Bedroom 2: (Queen) has private patio and en suite with shower, wc and basin. From Muizenburg to Kalk Bay is a busy main street with market stalls, antique shops, art galleries as well stalls on the pavements. Our location couldn't be any better, the West side of the Sonoma Mountains is where the locals hang out and wine taste. I've never stopped to count them, but I would guess that there are 150-200 wineries within an hours drive of us. We are 10 minutes to Historic Downtown Petaluma, 25 minutes to Historic Downtown Sonoma and the Sonoma Square, 25-35 minutes to the Russian River, Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley wine regions (the best wine tasting this side of the Golden Gate Bridge), 45 minutes to Bodega Bay, 35 minutes to Napa, and 40 minutes to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. We're also 35 minutes to Lake Sonoma, (great fishing for Trout or Bass), for a fun day on the lake. Are the Peanuts comic strips your thing? We are 15 minutes from the Charles Schultz Museum with the Snoopy's Home Ice skating rink in Santa Rosa. For an amazing day trip, we are just over 2 hours to Mendocino and the Lost Coast. Our proximity to Bodega Bay means warmer winters and cooler summers. Summer days average in the upper 80's to low 90's, with the nights getting into the low 50's. Winter days run in the upper 50's and low 60's, with nights dipping into the low 30's. It's not unusual to see the local hills with a light dusting of snow for Christmas. We are located out in the country a bit in the town of Penngrove, and with the exception of one neighbor, we are surrounded by rolling hills and horse pasture on all sides. We are a 10 minute drive to anything you might need be it a drug store, restaurants, tavern, movie theater, super market, pack 'n ship, hardware store, or hospital. If quiet is what you are looking for, you will have found it here. Each afternoon you will be treated to a sun setting into the eucalyptus grove across the field, and an evening sky full of stars. Each morning, you can enjoy a big mug of locally roasted, fresh brewed coffee on your patio, or take a short 10 minute walk down to our local coffee house/cafe, JavAmore' for a wonderful breakfast, either way, it's hard to beat a Sonoma morning. The guesthouse is non-smoking. You are welcome to smoke on the patio with the sliding door closed. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook for a family of 4, with granite counter tops and stainless steal appliances. The bedroom has recessed lighting, and a 6ft closet for all of your vacation gear. It has a queen size bed with night stands and a large dresser if you chose to make it an extended stay. The bathroom is truly special, with a restored 120yr old claw-foot tub, and an antique dresser turned bath vanity with a custom stone vanity top. Description:Lay in your king sized bed and watch the crystal clear Caribbean Sea. Sit on your patio and you can observe the pool, charter fishing boats waiting for customers, dive boats preparing to set out along with swimmers and snorkelers. You will have a fully equipped kitchen that has been recently re-tiled. There is an oversized shower and a new air conditioner. No internet. You are within day trip distance of the TULUM, COBA, CHICHEN ITZA, and MUYIL Ruins. Tulum is the closest at less than 15 miles and has an excellent beach at the bottom of the cliffs with ancient temples. Chichen Itza is the farthest you may want to try for a day trip and is about a 2 hour drive. In route you will pass a Mexican Prison and there is a crafts store next door that sells items the prisoners have made. The largest city you will pass thru is Valladolid. If you can find a parking space at the towns central plaza there is a hotel on the South side with a restaurant that serves excellent coffee. Admission to all ruins cost about $5 USD per person. Carry bottled water, insect repellant, suntan lotion and a head cover of some type. How to get there from the cond If you have a car head south on 307 toward Tulum. You will find the Tulum Ruin on the left as you enter Tulum. If you proceed on south from the Tulum Ruin you will find the San Francisco de Assisi grocery on the right. Turn right at the grocery and head west. You will pass thru several small Puebla’s and over many Toppes. You will come to a round-about. Here you may take the southern route to Coba or the western (straight ahead) on toward Chichen Itza. It is tempting but do not attempt both in one day. Besides Coba will still let you climb the pyramid and unless you are in shape it will be a challenge. If headed on to Chichen Itza proceed west to 180 Libre (free) I never take the toll road. Stay on 180 and watch for the Chichen Itza signage past Valladolid. There will be many native artisans on the grounds in Chichen Itza. They have fought for the right to be there on their ancestral grounds through the Mexican courts and won. There are some nice souvenirs to be found but the hawking is a distraction at times. Chichen Itza is large and impressive. The Muyil ruins are south of Tulum and are not on the same scale as the others but at the back of the ruins you will have an option to pay another fee and visit a tract of land controlled by the Houston Audubon Society. You will also be given an option at the lagoon to take a boat ride to see additional sights. Remember the round-about between Coba and Chichen Itza? If you go north on that small road it will take you to Punta Laguna Nature Reserve. It is a monkey preserve controlled by some indigenous people. It is on the left and you have to be watching, it is not well marked. You can pay a fee and a guide will take you to see either Howler or Spider monkeys depending on which they think they can find when you are there. Go early in the day and take all the things you took to the ruins. Aktunchen a Mayan name that means natural well inside a cave is located 4 km south of Akumal on the west side of 307 .One of the park main activities is a walk inside a 640 yard long dry cave, where a guide will tell you all about cave´s formation. It’s not large but fun. They have a zip line and animal exhibits. Carry some fruit to feed the deer and other wildlife. The Sian Ka’an may be accessed by turning left in Tulum at the San Francisco de Assisi grocery. Stay to the right when the road splits past the police and fire station. You will come to the entrance of the Sian Ka’an. You will have to stop for arm band passes for your party. In the language of the Mayan peoples who once inhabited this region, Sian Ka'an means 'Origin of the Sky'. Located on the east coast of the Yucatán peninsula, this biosphere reserve contains tropical forests, mangroves and marshes, as well as a large marine section intersected by a barrier reef. It provides a habitat for a remarkably rich flora and a fauna comprising more than 300 species of birds, as well as a large number of the region's characteristic terrestrial vertebrates, which cohabit in the diverse environment formed by its complex hydrological system. The Sian Ka’an is a UNESCO World Heritage Preserve. This road is rough. If you travel all the way to the end you will come to Punta Allen. It is a small fishing and crabbing village.
