Description:Villa Olivia at Patzcuaro Beach was formerly listed in OUTSIDE MAGAZINE as one of the World 's 100 Absolute Best Getaways. It is a privately owned villa located 40 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta Airport and 2.5 miles south of the popular tourist village of Sayulita. The oceanfront setting at Playa Patzcuaro is spectacularly beautiful, pristine, and private. Our section of the coast has been designated by the federal government as a refuge for sea turtles, birds, and wildlife. The Mexican-style villa was constructed in the 1980 's by a prominent Mexican family as a vacation home. It is staggered on a hillside leading down to the beach and is designed in the traditional Mexican style with red tile roofs, white washed walls, high beamed ceilings, and Mexican tiled floors and Talavera tiled bathrooms throughout. The villa is rented as either a four-bedroom or a five- bedroom property to one group or family at a time to insure privacy. Each of the five bedroom casitas (double occupancy) has its own entrance, private bath, balcony or patio, and lovely jungle and ocean views. There is a large open living-dining palapa overlooking the ocean with a 30 ft. high palm-thatched roof, a perfect spot for bird and whale watching. The spacious kitchen has a beautiful view of the coastline and is fully equipped for guests to prepare meals. Arrangements can be made for meals at the villa. (Please inquire for more information.) The property is lush with mature palms, trees, ferns, flowering plants, and other tropical vegetation. Villa Olivia at Patzcuaro Beach is best suited to families and friends who love nature and are looking to spend quality time together in a very private beachfront setting, rather than in the village of Sayulita. However, all of our guests enjoy visiting the town and taking in the local color and great selection of shops, restaurants and cafes. There are many activities in the area: surfing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, whale watching and fishing excursions and others. The atmosphere at Villa Olivia is secluded, casual, intimate, and very charming. We strive to have our guests enjoy Villa Olivia as if they were in their own private vacation home.
