Great hiking and walking with dogs. ===================================================== Welcome to our little cabin in Lake Arrowhead, situated up a hill in the woods, but only a few minutes stroll to the mini-village of Cedar Glen, which has a supermarket, post office, coffees shop, bar, gym, and laundromat. And, just a couple minutes walk in the other direction is the Malt Shoppe, which is a great vintage place that's barely changed since the 50s. Great for a burger and a milkshake! It's a short 5 minute drive to the lake, and the bigger lake village. You can walk or drive to fantastic hiking and biking, or off-roading if that's your thing. The cabin is a fully furnished and equipped retreat, ready for you to write the great American novel or just hang out in front of the fire with your honey... Downstairs you'll find the wood panelled living room with wood burning fireplace (with a gas starter), sofabed, and sliding doors to the wood deck with view of the redwoods. The eat in kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, dishes, anything you might need to cook a country feast. Upstairs is the bedroom area, with a queen bed in main room, and off to the side two twin beds in a little nook. No walls between the rooms, so you may have to be cozy with your friends and family :) The wraparound deck has a picnic table and a great view of the trees. There are neighbors around you, so it's not an isolated mountain retreat, but there's a great sense of privacy up on the hill (but, you don't have to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere either). Parking is a pad which fits two cars, then you walk up the gently sloping steps to the house. It can be a little snowy sometimes, so definitely be careful if you're coming up in winter! The house has a really cool retro cabin vibe, complete with lots of bear and squirrel statues. There's even an old-school video game console called Intellivision, with a collection of games (anyone ever heard of it?)! We really love this cabin as a quick getaway from LA (just an hour and a half), and all our friends who have visited have fallen for it, too. Hope you can spend some time and enjoy!... more info >>

Includes a DVD player w/ soundbar speaker and has a docking deck for iPod/itouch input to play audio/video. Also with a library of DVD's and CD's and high speed WiFi and library of board games. Description:This Swiss-style home in the forest was hand-built in the '70s by a family of cabinetmakers. Custom features abound, including built-in benches and cabinets, hand-painted beams and railings, and a two-inch think solid oak floor. The home is located on a private five-acre property which borders National Forest on two sides. There is a large living room with wood-burning fireplace, an adjoining formal dining room, and a large deck overlooking a spring-fed pond, a large meadow, and towering pines. Weddings have been held in the meadow, which still shows evidence of its heritage as a summertime camp for Shoshone Indians. Located at nearly 7,000 feet, adjacent to hundreds of square miles of forest, this home is the perfect gateway to hiking, running, biking, horseback riding, sledding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. There are trails right outside your back door, and the Pacific Crest Trail is one mile east. The home is in an extremely quiet location. No traffic, and no holiday crowds. There is a deck at the top of the property where you can enjoy total peace. Read...enjoy the sunset...and view a truly stunning panorama of stars at night. Our large hot tub also sits at the edge of the forest. Two ski resorts, the famous alpine lake (fishing, kayaking, other water sports), the USFS Discovery Center, and a remarkable mountain zoo (with wood bison, cougars, eagles, timber wolves, grizzlies, and much more) and are all within 15 minutes by car. The towns of Big Bear Lake and Fawnskin offer scores of restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. There are also two supermarkets, multiple drug stores, and a hospital. For those who want a big adventure, the San Bernardino Mountains offer truly spectacular, wild terrain. This is one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world (in geological terms) with scores of steep, challenging peaks which stretch from the natural hot springs of Deep Creek in the west to huge Yucca forests in the east. Named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century, 11,503-foot Mount San Gorgonio (Old Greyback) sits at the center of America's first wilderness area, and is home to an extremely rare herd of bighorn sheep. The headwaters of the Santa Ana River offer several wild trout streams, accessible only by foot. Hundreds of miles of unpaved roads offer every type of off-road experience -- ranging from an easy drive to Pioneertown, to the most radical 4WD trails imaginable. Description:One of six oversized suites in the Alpine Village Inn located in the heart of The Village just steps from the Lake, Pine Knot Marina, restaurants, movie theaters and great shopping. Trying to get to the slopes, we are only about one mile west of Snow Summit and about two and a haf miles from Bear. Enjoy your stay here in Big Bear relaxed in a very comfortable 700 sq foot suite. There is a seperate bedroom with a King Bed, a full Bath, fully equipped kitchen.
