Description:Beginning at its source in Lake Payette near picturesque McCall, the Payette River begins its journey, meandering southward through the East Valley like a green snake thick with trees and vegetation. Its tributaries wear the same verdant coat, inviting anyone in search of a private and pastoral refuge to put down roots along its way. Well, here 's one of those places. Poised in a thicket of trees between a branch of the Payette that lies to the west, and the awesome wilderness area of the Payette National Forest to the east, this rustic cabin offers you the peace and seclusion of a forest vale only 15 minutes from the activities and amenities of the bustling resort city of McCall. nPerched atop a huge and immaculate garage, the living space of this cabin is on the second floor. Its large, integrated space is studded with windows that encircle the entire structure and lend a bright, cheery character to the interior, not to mention 360-degree views of the surrounding forest. From the rough-hewn furniture with its southwestern patterns, the wood stove (firewood provided) nestled on its slate-stone perch, to the taxidermy fish on the wall, the atmosphere is quintessential lodge. But rustic doesn 't mean roughing it. There 's cable TV (with Dish Network) and a DVD player, so bring along a couple of your favorite movies. Weather permitting, head out to the outdoor grill and fire pit and grill your dinner, or huddle together on a chilly summer night and swap stories over roasted marshmallows or s 'mores. nClearview sleeps four. The bedroom, like the rest of the cabin, is lined with windows and has a queen bed, so the first thing you see when you wake up are the trees outside. Anglers: Drop your line in Payette Lake, Lake Cascade, or the Payette, Salmon, or Snake rivers and try your luck at trout, salmon, steelhead, perch and smallmouth bass. Float in your kayak, or shoot the rapids with one of the five white water rafting businesses. Launch your boat on nearby Payette Lake or just hang out on the sand on Davis Beach in McCall. Payette National forest and Ponderosa State Park are just minutes from this lodge where you can hike, bike, or snowmobile in the winter. Most of these eateries are within a mile or two of the condo. nTimberlake Condo has no bedroom. The murphy bed (a bed that hides away vertically in the wall and is pulled down for use) will sleep two comfortably. There's one full bathroom. There isn't a washer/dryer in the unit, but there is a washer/dryer in the complex a couple of doors to the right as you come up the stairs. nOf course this condo's proximity to the lake and the fact that it has mooring facilities (first-come, first-serve basis) makes this the perfect place for those lucky enough to own some type of watercraft. Certainly you'll be able to do all things aquatic, like swimming, water-skiing, and sailing, but there's a world of things to do around McCall on dry land. Nearby Ponderosa State Park has numerous hiking and biking trails and spectacular views from Osprey Point. You can arrange a rafting or fishing trip. Golfers, bring your clubs! It's just a few blocks to McCall Golf Course. Jug Mountain and White Tail golf courses are also nearby. But McCall has lots of things to do in winter as well. Brundage Mountain Resort is about 30 minutes to the north. There are plenty of snowmobile trails around McCall and places to ice skate as well. If you're looking for a unique vacation experience, why not hire on as a non-working hand at this secluded but functioning dairy farm just minutes from Donnelly and historic Roseberry, Jug Mountain Ranch, and McCall. nFrom the windows, porch, and deck of this gorgeous, three bedroom farmhouse with room for six, you'll look out on 360 degrees of beautiful agrarian vistas filled with mountains and pastureland. And be prepared: Your visit may be punctuated by an occasional visit from some friendly farm critter. nThough this is a working farm during the Summer months, you needn't worry, your only job is to enjoy the peace and seclusion. On hot days, when the help is out tending to the farm, you'll be comfortable in this beautifully decorated home. Relax in the spacious living room under timber-trussed ceilings. Feel the polished elegance of hardwood floors beneath your feet, and settle into the comfort of the plush couches and chair. While the bathroom on the main floor is impressive, the bathroom on the second floor is huge and remarkable, with windows all around. You can soak in the claw foot tub and survey the world outside in bubbly warmth and complete seclusion. nWhen you're ready to tear yourself away from the peace and quiet of The Farmhouse, you'll have your choice of lake and mountain. There's boating, of course, and several places to launch them. You'll be pretty close to the Middle Fork of the Payette River where the fishing, kayaking and canoeing is great! To the east is Boise National forest where you'll find at least 12 trails of varying difficulty. Jug Mountain Golf Course and Tamarack Resort are each within a 15 minute drive, and offer a host of seasonal activities from golfing,skiing, hiking and mountain biking. The home has two full bathrooms and a washer and dryer. nThere are two small markets nearby. It's a good idea, though, to stock up before you come. Your cook will love this fully equipped modern kitchen with lots of room to navigate. Along with a stainless steel stove, microwave and dishwasher, your cook will have plenty of pots, pans, and utensils. There's room for four at the dining table and three more on the stools at the bar. When the weather's warm, fire up the gas grill on the deck for a barbecue, or toast those marshmallows and s'mores at the outdoor fire pit. nAt Hot Springs Retreat, you'll be just far enough from bustling McCall to enjoy peace and quiet, yet close to all the wonderful sites and activities in the New Meadows/McCall area. The Little Salmon River is just a short distance away, so bring your fishing gear! Head up to Riggins (about 38 minutes away) where you can shoot the rapids in your kayak or sign on with a whitewater rafting charter. nGolfers can tee up at nearby New Meadows Golf Course or choose from six others, all within 20 miles away. New Meadows is also great when the snow flies! The ski slopes at Brundage Mountain and Tamarack are less than an hour away. Snowmobilers: There are numerous trails. (There are maps available at the Forest Service station in New Meadows as well as the Chamber of Commerce in McCall).
