Description:Fancy spending a glorious month by the sea in Dublin? My home will be available from 13th June 2012 for one month, so you could be here to celebrate the week-long festival for James Joyce's Bloomsday (16th June). My flat is cozy, comfortable, bright and spacious. I love collecting antiques/bric-a-brac, so my home is full of all kinds of bits and pieces scavenged while on my travels to local charity shops, markets, skips -- and the occasional foreign land...! The terrace was built around 1860 and overlooks the whole of Dublin Bay. By the way, Blackrock is in Blackrock, it's not in Stillorgan, no matter what Maps tells you. It is beautiful. People go wind and wave surfing right infront of the terrace. My home backs onto the village of Blackrock, where you'll find everything you need in terms of food, cafes, entertainment, etc. There's even the wonderful Blackrock Market, where you'll find fabulous antiques. Make sure to go to Geraldine's stall. Blackrock is a picturesque, peaceful village 5 miles south of Dublin city centre. The main bedroom is at the front of the flat. If you stand on a stool at the window, you'll see the sea (sorry, you'll have to walk out the front door and across the road to appreciate the full view). This room has an ensuite bathroom, with bath, shower, wc and sink. The bed is a gi-normous 6ft x 6ft, and the mattress is organic cotton and latex, so it's extremely comfy. Furniture is antique. It's a lovely room. Living room is at the rear. This is another beautiful room, even if I say so myself. It's so peaceful. It has a solid-fuel-burning stove, french doors that lead out to the south-facing back yard, and a wickedly big and comfy sofa. Big yellow paper butterflies float from the ceiling. I have loads of books -- in the hall and this room. Kitchen is off this room. It has all mod cons -- dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, gas stovetop, electric oven. There's another door out to the yard from the kitchen. Utility room is next to the front door. It's where I stuff all my spare coats, scarves, etc. The washing machine is here, and a spare toilet which I rarely use. My 5-yr-old child's bedroom is off the kitchen. It's such a cute room. It has a wee little bed in it, but it can be extended to suit another child up to age 10 I'd imagine. My plan is to put an adult-sized bed there, but don't hold your breath. I have the brass bedsteads but no mattress or base... Blackrock is unusually well served by public transport. The flat is literally 2 minutes' walk to Blackrock Dart (train) station, which will get you into the city centre in 15 minutes. There are loads of buses in Blackrock to 4,7,8,45,17,114. I can get daily parking permits at 2 euros each, if you want to park outside. The flat is quiet, safe and warm (gas central heating). No carpets (except some rugs), no pets, non-smoking family members. Family members live in the house above, but there's no internal connection between the two properties. For this reason, and because my lovely neighbours are peace-loving people, no loud music or parties are allowed. Free wi-fi. You're welcome to use my laptop, but it's a bit wonky -- some keys don't work, etc. My landline can be used for all calls within Ireland and Britain (up to one hour per call), but mustn't be used for ringing mobiles or other calls outside this area. You'll get a reasonable amount of free gas and electricity. After that I'll have to charge the normal rate for it (ie, I won't be making a profit from you). Sorry abut this, but I've heard horror stories about people leaving heating on 24/7 even when it's warm outside, just because it's free (but you'd never do that, now would you!). I have no television, but you'll be on holidays anyway, so you shouldn't be wasting your time infront of the box anyway :-) Smoking not allowed indoors. Catherine... more info >>
