Around the house covers an acre of land fenced in which we created a garden, an olive grove that produces an excellent extra virgin, strictly organic garden and a grove of tall trees. So we can enjoy tomatoes, chard, zucchini, salads of various kinds, peas, beans, broccoli and cauliflower, grapes, strawberries, depending on the season. We also collect from our belowed trees plums, peaches, apricots, apples and walnuts. The tranquil location is a heaven of peace and quiet while at the same time being very close to all amenities offered by the busy market town of Marsciano. The house is located about 12 km from the main road through the centre of Umbria linking Assisi (30 minutes), Perugia (20 minutes), Orvieto (40 minutes), Todi (15 minutes) and Spoleto (50 minutes). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FURTHER DETAILS Normally guests are welcome no earlier than 15 and check out is at 11 o'clock. A welcome pack of wine, water,milk, home made bread and oil extra virgin home produced is provided and the kitchen is supplied with basics such as tea, coffee, sugar etc. We can offer guests some extras that they not find elsewhere such as home cooked meals on arrival or during their stay. The large double-bedroom is furnished with wooden interiors. The kitchen is fully fitted.. Bed linen and towels are provided. The island of Ortigia - a good place also for evening excursions and where you can also try out local food specialties in a large amount of typical restaurants to choose from simply walking for the streets of Ortigia can be a gorgeous experience, adventuring through its little narrow street filled or baroque sculptures and building facades. There are also little mountain-side towns that can be reached in about a hour, places of the likes of Buccheri, Buscemi, and Palazzolo, where you will find museums, good typical eatery and the ‘Val Di Anapo’ valley. From Casa Monia B you will have a broad view of the Tuscan countryside and of the vineyards. Casa Monia B is 60 square meters (645 square feet). It features a shared swimming pool, a shared garden, winter heating and WI-FI Internet access. n nYou will be roughly 3.5 km (2.2 miles) from Serre di Rapolano, where you will find restaurants and the shops. You will reach Casa Monia B from the main entrance of the building going up a stairway which consists of approximately 15 steps. n nYou will not need a car to stay at Casa Monia B. If you do have one, you will be able to park it in a reserved parking space. n nYou will spend your vacation in an historic and fascinating location. A few steps away from the house, there is a large Etruscan tomb, dug straight into the rich vein of travertine which runs under the earth here. n nThe five apartments are part of a farming estate, at the heart of which is an historic medieval mill. This ancient stone building has been restored with love and respect for its original form, and is lovely to look at, standing alone and surrounded by greenery. Inside, there was a small mill-wheel, which was activated by one of the thermal springs with which this area is so richly endowed. Currently here you will find two of the five apartments. n nNot far from here there is the one-level building in which three other vacation apartments are located. n nSurrounding the entire complex you will find a beautiful lawn, divided by narrow stone pathways that cut across the greenery, and ornamented with urns overflowing with red geraniums. On this lawn, here and there, you will find on display some of the antique tools of contadina (peasant) life. n nThe farm practices organic agriculture, and you can buy extra-virgin olive oil, wine, truffles, vegetables and fruit on the premises. You will be able to gaze across a stretch of gentle clay hills, which in springtime are resplendent with the various green tints of the pastures or of cultivated grains, and cloaked in summertime with myriad shades of gold and of ochre. n nWhere the grain ends, the vineyards begin, most notably in the zone of Montalcino, famous for the Brunello wines that are produced there.
