Description:Hello, We are subletting our beautiful 2 room/1 bath retreat apartment for the month of April and the bulk of May. It is located in Williamstown/Hancock MA (about 15 minutes from Pittsfield) and is VERY close to Jiminy Peak (you can see it from the main window and it's less than a mile away), so it's perfect for a hiking /get away retreat spot. It's also about 15 minutes to Pittsfield and about 40 minutes to Albany. Rent is $575 a month plus electric (a meter reading will be done to calculate usage) and includes washer and dryer. It is on point reaching out into the lake, where you can see almost both ends of the 3 miles long lake. I have enjoyed this peaceful lake ever since I can remember. There is a dock with water depth of about 9â,€,™, at the end, great for swimming, fishing and boating and there is a small sandy beach on the property, great for young children learning to swim. n nBeing at the end of a dead end road, we have a great feeling of privacy with 2.7 acres with 300â,€,™, of frontage on North Pond. Yet there are a number of year round homes within walking distance. The lake 's surface is about 234 acres which is an average of 9 feet deep but goes to depths of 20 feet. We see an abundance of birds: including many ducks and a Great Blue Heron. n nHouse and amenities. nFirst floor: nkitchen with appliances, utensils & cooking needs, Microwave, coffee machine, and exterior gas grill. n nFamily room with fireplace with access to enclosed porch and a deck overlooking the dock and water. The enclosed porch is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee and watch the sun rise and the mist play on the lake. There is a large table, great for larger meals and for enjoying the views and activity on the lake. n nLiving room with library, and access to second deck with a table, and umbrella. n nSecond floor: large bedroom with two twin beds and a cot. n nBathroom with shower. n nThere is a small row boat available to explore the lake. There are reports that it is great lake for bass large and small. n nWhat People say about North Pond (Lake Maspencok) nPeppercorn Hill, in the east, commands a fine view of North Pond, from which flows Mill River, separating Upton from Milford. Pratt 's Hill and pond, and a smaller pond, beautify the scenery on the north of the central village. n Upton...hardly anybody knows about this small central mass town. It has many historic buildings and sites. One third of the town is conservation land and state forest. There are some hidden historic Indian sites and some beehive cave chambers. On a clear fall day, you can see the tip of the Boston sky line from Peppercorn Hill. n nNorth Pond has been in my family for 70 years, It has been updated a number of times and is now a year round home now which we rent it out in for a few weeks in the summer and as a winter rental from mid Sept to June 30. Even a heated outdoor enclosed shower. Gull Pond is a clear, spring fed, swimmable, and all natural. Water quality is tested for swimming by the town of Wellfleet at the nearby town beach. You can rent sunfish, kayaks, and windsurfers at the town beach in season. Walk to the boat rentals through the water along the edge of the pond, or take a short walk down the trail to get there. Located on a quiet road, along the Cape Cod Bicycle Trail. Relax, read and grill on the large deck and enjoy the delightful afternoon views of Gull Pond. Walk along protected woodland and ocean trails in the Cape Cod National Seashore. Fresh air. Bicycle. Swim. Relax. This is summer and the Cape as it was meant to be. There are networks of protected woodland and ocean trails for hiking, around the pond, over to the ocean, a real pleasure for walking and hiking. Go down to the ocean beach. You can get there from the cottage entirely along the back roads, and it's a beautiful ocean-view drive or bike ride. There's Moby Dick's, a family-friendly fish-in-the-rough restaurant with remarkably fresh, delicious seafood, lobsters, oysters, in season. For local organic produce and fine quality fish, take home to grill, or let them steam the lobsters, there's Hatche's fish and produce in the town center, in season. Of course there's Provincetown for those who want a larger center. Spring and Fall are highly recommended - reasonable rates, beautiful scenery, comfortable weather, and flexible stays. During the summer, we're more likely to be able to accept your reservation if you book starting or ending on a Sunday, for better coordination with our weekly guests. Other seasons, take your pick on days. About Our Rates: Our daily rates range from a low of approximately $60/night to a high of approximately $496 per night, depending on your dates and length of your stay. To get an exact quote, enter the dates for arrival/departure above on the right, and the exact price will appear for those dates. The price per night is lower the longer you stay. And the closer you are to peak season, the higher the daily rate. The best way to browse rates is to click on the Calendar tab above, where you can see the base daily for each day. During high season weekend rates may be higher, mid-week rates lower. High speed internet and wifi are provided, plus a land line. Out here there are no television signals, limited radio reception, and poor cell phone coverage. If you absolutely need video, our first recommendation is bring a book, or browse our library. We also provide a DVD player. If you need mobile phone service, and are an AT if you provide your AT&T mobile number we can set it up so your mobile phone will work. Description:Relaxing home/cottage on Lake Quacumquasit / South Pond in Brookfield, MA. Originally a cottage built in 1932, I purchased it as my home in 2004 and did many renovations to the living areas. I now live elsewhere, but I love this home and decided to keep it and rent. It is perfect for a couple or small family (or individual) looking to get away and unwind. It's on a small private road, with 4 neighbors. Full disclosure - it's not immediately on the water front, but across the small lane/road. There is direct access to the lake for swimming, kayaks, canoes and fishing. Our town beach (guarded) is within easy walking distance (or 2 minutes if you drive there). There's also a boat ramp that was newly renovated by the lake association. The house has five rooms: The main livingroom with cathedral ceiling, sky lights, french doors opening to the patio (main entrance) and couch, chairs, coffe table, rugs. A fully equiped kitchen with dining area and chairs. A bathroom with tub/shower. There are two bed rooms - one larger with queen bed, and the other with a twin bed - both have closets and bureaus. Also, there is floor space for air mattresses and sleeping bags, etc. For your convenience there are washer and dryer, cable TV, parking. Outside is a 20'x15' cement patio with furniture, and a large yard for games and lounging. The entire property is perched on a knoll that is above all neighbors affording a beautiful, unobstructed view of the lake. This location adds privacy and encourages frolicking. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. A perfectly comfortable year 'round cottage: Summers are lazy and cool, Autumn is stunningly beautiful, Winter is cozy and warm. Easy to get to - Brookfield borders Strubridge at the intersection of the Mass Pike and Interstate 84. It's 1.25 hours from Boston, 2.5 hours from NYC, and 45 minutes from Worcester, Springfield or Hartford. Major local attraction include Old Sturbridge Village (3miles), The Brimfield Antiques Festival (5 miles. May, July, Sept), beautiful hiking at Quabbin Reservoir (10 miles).
