Description:April and May are greatly discounted! Weekly and Monthly discounts are in place! Great location in the artist's colonia of Guadalupe! 4.5 short blocks to Via Organica market and restaurant, about the same to the large Guadalupe and San Juan del Dios market places! We are less that 2 blocks from the beginning of Centro, and about 4 blocks to the wonderful Historic Centro. Taxis and buses are a close walk. In fact, we are in walking distance to just about everything San Miguel has to offer. There are a few little neighborhood markets and restaurants within 2 blocks, and the best art supply store is on that same street. There are chattering birds in the trees outside your windows, and you have your own private patio and garden. Your non-destructive, non-barker dog(s) is/are welcome, with an additional security deposit made directly to us. Included in your rent is a supply of breakfast foods to get you through your first several days, WiFi connectivity, Gas, Water, Electricity. Your linens and dishes and appliances are all provided! Just bring your clothes and art supplies...or buy them here. We are as green as we can get here. Because electricity must be conserved, we change sheets every other week unless you specifically request another change in between. We have equipped the kitchen with everything you need, but we have done so with electricity conservation in mind. Your stove is gas, the water heater is gas, etc. San Miguel de Allende abounds with cultural events as varied as a day of the Loco's which draws thousands from all around, to classical music festivals, which draws artists from around the world. Art and language classes are easy to find, and the variety in restaurants in incredible! The city is supplied with many spas, and hot springs are just outside town. San Miguel has a great local bus system that costs 5 pesos a ride, and taxi's are cheap and everywhere you look! There is a large bus station a few blocks outside centro where you can catch buses to all the near and far sites Mexico has to offer! Smoking is outside only. No off street parking is provided. Description:Lay in your king sized bed and watch the crystal clear Caribbean Sea. Sit on your patio and you can observe the pool, charter fishing boats waiting for customers, dive boats preparing to set out along with swimmers and snorkelers. You will have a fully equipped kitchen that has been recently re-tiled. There is an oversized shower and a new air conditioner. No internet. You are within day trip distance of the TULUM, COBA, CHICHEN ITZA, and MUYIL Ruins. Tulum is the closest at less than 15 miles and has an excellent beach at the bottom of the cliffs with ancient temples. Chichen Itza is the farthest you may want to try for a day trip and is about a 2 hour drive. In route you will pass a Mexican Prison and there is a crafts store next door that sells items the prisoners have made. The largest city you will pass thru is Valladolid. If you can find a parking space at the towns central plaza there is a hotel on the South side with a restaurant that serves excellent coffee. Admission to all ruins cost about $5 USD per person. Carry bottled water, insect repellant, suntan lotion and a head cover of some type. How to get there from the cond If you have a car head south on 307 toward Tulum. You will find the Tulum Ruin on the left as you enter Tulum. If you proceed on south from the Tulum Ruin you will find the San Francisco de Assisi grocery on the right. Turn right at the grocery and head west. You will pass thru several small Puebla’s and over many Toppes. You will come to a round-about. Here you may take the southern route to Coba or the western (straight ahead) on toward Chichen Itza. It is tempting but do not attempt both in one day. Besides Coba will still let you climb the pyramid and unless you are in shape it will be a challenge. If headed on to Chichen Itza proceed west to 180 Libre (free) I never take the toll road. Stay on 180 and watch for the Chichen Itza signage past Valladolid. There will be many native artisans on the grounds in Chichen Itza. They have fought for the right to be there on their ancestral grounds through the Mexican courts and won. There are some nice souvenirs to be found but the hawking is a distraction at times. Chichen Itza is large and impressive. The Muyil ruins are south of Tulum and are not on the same scale as the others but at the back of the ruins you will have an option to pay another fee and visit a tract of land controlled by the Houston Audubon Society. You will also be given an option at the lagoon to take a boat ride to see additional sights. Remember the round-about between Coba and Chichen Itza? If you go north on that small road it will take you to Punta Laguna Nature Reserve. It is a monkey preserve controlled by some indigenous people. It is on the left and you have to be watching, it is not well marked. You can pay a fee and a guide will take you to see either Howler or Spider monkeys depending on which they think they can find when you are there. Go early in the day and take all the things you took to the ruins. Aktunchen a Mayan name that means natural well inside a cave is located 4 km south of Akumal on the west side of 307 .One of the park main activities is a walk inside a 640 yard long dry cave, where a guide will tell you all about cave´s formation. It’s not large but fun. They have a zip line and animal exhibits. Carry some fruit to feed the deer and other wildlife. The Sian Ka’an may be accessed by turning left in Tulum at the San Francisco de Assisi grocery. Stay to the right when the road splits past the police and fire station. You will come to the entrance of the Sian Ka’an. You will have to stop for arm band passes for your party. In the language of the Mayan peoples who once inhabited this region, Sian Ka'an means 'Origin of the Sky'. Located on the east coast of the Yucatán peninsula, this biosphere reserve contains tropical forests, mangroves and marshes, as well as a large marine section intersected by a barrier reef. It provides a habitat for a remarkably rich flora and a fauna comprising more than 300 species of birds, as well as a large number of the region's characteristic terrestrial vertebrates, which cohabit in the diverse environment formed by its complex hydrological system. The Sian Ka’an is a UNESCO World Heritage Preserve. This road is rough. If you travel all the way to the end you will come to Punta Allen. It is a small fishing and crabbing village. Description:This home is being offered for long term, unfurnished. Congratulations, you are about to visit one of the best kept secrets in the world. San Miguel Allende offers beauty at every turn, intellectual and artistic stimulation of such high quality, and at such low prices, that it will knock your socks off! This is a world class destination. If you want art or languages classes, we can make suggestions, just ask! We have little stores on every street, but the Monday and Saturday open air markets are within 6 blocks, are lovely to shop at! Grab your market bags and straw hat, and all the fresh fruit and vegetables are at your finger tips. There is also an organic market and restaurant and art supply store a level mile away. You may bring your well behaved, non-noisy, medium sized or small, house-broken dog(s) with prior conversation and approval of owner. Artists, Writers, Creative Types: The studio (or wonderful office) is on the terrace with a full view of the Parroquia and skyline of San Miguel! The Southern windows open wide, the Northern wall is all window, with the top most part opening for extra ventilation. The Eastern wall is all most all glass, and has a large glass door and screen door. There is a ceiling fan, phone line, and intercom for answering the street door. There is a sink just at the entrance to the studio. The Western wall is solid but for 5 built in glass bricks, letting in a touch of afternoon sun. The terrace is a gorgeous rose (or whatever you want) garden. Bugainvillea, herbs, flowering vines, grow in pots on the terrace. Downstairs you have areas to have plants in the soil and in pots, as there are front and back courtyard garden areas and patios. For about $4 per hour you can have a house cleaner and the same for a gardener. The rent of $650 per month is for periods of one year or more...minimum rental is 6 months, and is billed at $750 per month. There is a dual water treatment system and pressurization, so the water is potable. In total, the house has 5 ceiling fans and 2 gas fireplaces. These are located in the living room and master bedroom. Except for the rooftop terrace and art studio or office, the home is entirely on one level, with walls of windows looking out to courtyard and patio gardens. The view from the terrace and studio is gorgeous, taking in mountains, greenbelt and the city skyline, including the Parroquia. The studio would also make a marvelous office, and it has an intercom to the street door and phone line, as do the master bedroom and kitchen. You will have: 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, Artist's studio or Office, huge walk in closet in master BR, bidet and tub in bathroom (shower over), and beautiful huge windows looking out to your patios. The alcove with doors off the dining room, makes a great computer 'room', and storage area. The master bedroom has a huge dressing room- closet with skylights. The second bedroom has a large domed, brick ceiling with copula skylight, and a wall of windows/door to the courtyard. The opposing wall is all built in closet and cupboards and drawers. A great office and/or 2nd bedroom. The half bath is located near the living room. There is a half bath in the laundry room as well. The common rooms are built with an open, but defined plan. The house is the larger of 3 casitas within high colonial walls, surrounding a courtyard. The 2 one bedroom apartments are separated from the main house by a fence with flowering vines. There is a shared laundry room. No pets are allowed in the apartments, but this house has ample outdoor room for medium sized or small Quiet pets. The first link here is for this, the main house. The downstairs casita is rented for half the year to a retired college and high school teacher, the upstairs is rented to a retired professor emeritus, who lives here full time. The downstairs would be available to rent at a discounted rent as additional space, for yourselves or your guests when available. It is fully furnished, down to linens and dishes, etc. Our neighborhood is a typical Mexican colonia with little stores on every street, and with open markets on Saturday and Monday. The nearest good restaurants are a 15 minute walk, though there are little taco or gordita stands near by. Another 15 minute walk brings you into the center, where there are too many restaurants to count! There is a bus a half a block from the house that heads straight to the center. There are good places nearby for mountain bike riding. We are 2.5 blocks from a basketball court where Zumba is held each morning and evening, and a gym where you can pay 20 pesos ($1.60 u.s.)a visit, or 200 pesos ($16 US) for a month! It is not fancy, but is chock-full of good equipment. The owner is happy to give you personal instruction..almost like having a personal trainer, no extra charge! This house has never been smoked in...If it is important to you to smoke inside, and you are a long term tenant and double your deposit, we will permit smoking inside. We will require references, and a $1,000 security deposit, directly to us, which will be returned after your departure if there are no losses or damage, as well as first and last month's rent and a lease. One does not need a car in San Miguel, but should you bring one, there is on-street parking, and there are places scattered about town where you may rent off street parking. In fact, a very close neighbor may rent a space for your car if available. 6 months is the shortest rental term we will accept. We look forward to talking to you! There is an existing phone line @ about $15 us mo. WiFi is available, as is cable t.v. All is installed, but the cost is not included in rent. Under no circumstances will we allow pets that are an annoyance to others! Description:This lovely 700 square foot Condominium was totally renovated in Dec. 2008. It is located in a lovely, countrified area which is a 20 minute walk from the Jardin called Colonia Allende. The house has a very nice private patio, and is surrounded by trees, and fountains. The appliances are brand new, with lots of dishes, linens, and everything you need for a comfortable vacation. We have a washer/dryer, microwave, desktop computer, cable TV(English stations) wi-fi, and Vonage phone that is free. The bedroom has a king size bed, and walk in closet. We have many CDs and books. The housekeeper cleans once a week at no charge to you, and will supply purifiied water for a few dollars. The bus is two blocks away, and takes you to the center in 10 min. or it is a $2.00 cab ride. We also have a private secure parking space inside the condominium There are two gas fireplaces that work well. The condominium is well managed with an on site manager who is bi-lingual, and very helpful. He will meet you with the keys, and explain all you need to know.
