Description:We have the ultimate 'home away from home'. Built and restored by the owner, an architect, our one-bedroom ground floor maisonette has classic Victorian features such as high ceilings, timber floors and large sash windows. Our home is available to rent from the 25th December to the 20 January either over the whole duration or for short periods at a time. It's ideally sized for two sharing, but spacious enough for a group of four (sleeps two more on the futon). We'd probably be able to fit a fifth, though I don't think our French Chaise Lounge would lend anyone much rest. In summary we offer: -1 Bedroom with view and access to a beautiful big garden -1 Bathroom with shower and bath and underfloor heating -Open-plan kitchen/dining opening onto a garden terrace and lounge with working logburning fireplace -Facilities to accommodate two additional guests -WiFi / Record player / gas heating / fully equipped kitchen for self-catering / towels and sheets / washing machine / dishwasher / two bicycles upon request -Five minute walk to Dalston Junction station and the East London line for services connecting to all major tube and bus lines / 20 minutes by bus from Liverpool Street station / 25 minutes to Oxford Street by tube. We live on beautiful Richmond road in Hackney, East London - the perfect location for travellers wanting to experience the heart beat of London's most vibrant suburb. Just removed from the razzle dazzle of Dalston's colourful night life, our road is unbelievably quiet and peaceful at night. You'll be grateful for the rest. There are almost too many things to see and do around Hackney/Shorditch/London at large. Some of the things you could be seeing within a five to 15 minute walk from our home (or the Moonbadger as it's affectionately known as): - London Fields Park and Lido - London's only outdoor heated Olympic sized swimming pool -Broadway food and vintage Market, great for spotting celebs like Florence Welch and Gael Garcia Bernal. We recommend getting a home roasted coffee from Climpson's before making your way down to the French vintage dealer to shop for quirky coats and bags -Bricklane street-market (stop off for a world famous curry while you're there) -Redchurch Street - great for Scandinavian inspired furniture stores, boutique shopping and plenty contemporary art galleries -Vyner street and its plentiful selection of art galleries -London's oldest flower market on Columbia Road every Sunday (a MUST!) - An assortment of old-world gastro pubs ans bistro style restaurants - A bus ride away from the Olympic site, as well as London's newest shopping extravaganza - Westfield Mall. We'd be glad to leave you with further suggestions according to your personal interests.... more info >>

I also like to walk to the park Kensington Gardens for a morning walk. You can rent the bikes and go for a ride in the park with the London morning mist, nothing beats that.... more info >>

Description:Our home is in a great location to explore both London's favourite tourist sites (theatre, museums, art galleries) with a short trip into the city centre, and the fantastic food, local markets and lively bars of East London's Shoreditch, Hoxton and Hackney. The apartment itself is a new build and we've been living here for just over a year. It's a great place for people who like both a bit of peace and quiet, as well as everything London has to offer at their finger tips. We do a lot of cooking at home so we have a well-equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher. If you don't make it to one of the local markets or eateries, the apartment block is above a small supermarket. We are next to a main road but the flat itself is really quiet thanks to some excellent double glazing. Our neighbours are quiet and friendly and there is space to store bikes on the landing. We have a small balcony from which you can see four Victorian gas towers and some rather spectacular sunsets from time to time (pictured). A five minute walk to the tube station allows you to access central London (ten minute tube ride to Oxford Circus) and we're on three bus routes that go directly into different parts of the city (London Bridge, Waterloo and Marble Arch). But you don't need to go very far to entertain yourselves. A two minute walk from the apartment will take you to either Broadway Market or Columbia Road flower market - two of London's best street markets on the weekends. Other local attractions include London Fields Lido - a 1920s outdoor heated swimming pool open throughout the year. First Thursdays on Viner Street can be found around the corner, where you can explore gallery openings hosted by young artists in the area. The V&A's Museum of Childhood can be found near the local tube station for an insight into British childhood through the ages and for those young at heart Hackney City Farm has a small range of animals, including rare pig breeds, ducks and huge rabbits. We like eating out in the area and can make suggestions for the best places to go for Turkish, Georgian, Italian, traditional English, Argentinian, Brazilian and more. The recently Michelin starred restaurant Viajante is a two minute walk around the corner and has a great bar (and a cheaper secret diner for those on a budget!). For those who like to get out and about, Victoria Park and Regent's Canal are nearby providing open space to walk, run or relax. There are two gyms within walking distance, one of which has a spa attached. For getting out of London, it's an easy journey to Waterloo, London Bridge, Kings Cross or Liverpool Street where you can get trains to other parts of the country.... more info >>
