Description:The Villa is situated at 1500 mt from Bolsena, on the northern shore of the Bolsena Lake, the largest volcanic Lake in Europe (place on the border between Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany), where you can practice all water sports sailing and motor. Everyone has heard of Lake Garda, Como and Lago Maggiore, but little is known about the Lake Bolsena and the historical region (Etruria), which is located in the heart of Italy, not far from the famous resorts of Tuscany and Umbria, and remains one of the best kept secrets of Italy. Lake Bolsena is situated on the border between Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria, the Lake was formed in the crater of an extinct volcano. The waters are crystal clear and are teeming with fish, and are surrounded by beaches of volcanic sand. The most important city in the Lake Bolsena. Bolsena is a small town of Etruscan-Roman origin and, also, an important medieval town along the Via Francigena. It is possible to visit the ruins of the Etruscan-Roman Volsinii, the medieval quarter, the castello Monaldeschi (seat of the regional Museum of Lake Bolsena) and Basilica di Santa Cristina with its catacombs. Bolsena is also famous for the Eucharistic Miracle of Corpus Christi, for its annual festival of gardens and ortenzie. In the vicinity we find Civita di Bagnoregio, a fabulous village, where time has stopped, it was the set for the movie Pinocchio with Bob Hoskins). The villa has an area of 100 square meters, of which 20 sqm are porch and has all modern comforts, including wi fi, automatic entrance gate. The porch is ideal for lunch or dinner or simply to sit and watch the sunset on the Lake with a good glass of wine of Orvieto or East! Est! Est! If you come in summer, the Lake is lovely, clean and comfortable, and you can practice all water sports sailing and motor. It is also the period of SAGRE (festivals of food and wine tasting). If you come in late spring and early autumn is warm, and makes you feel good to taste the fruits of the Earth, mushrooms and truffles, stews, grapes, chestnuts and olive oil. This is one of the best regions for the traditional Italian cuisine, based on fresh local ingredients and what is in season. However there is still a good value and the local wine is excellent in 2/3 euro per bottle, extra virgin olive oil you can find 8-10 euro per litre. The area is among 3 regions, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio and although we are far from everything, in a hidden corner of paradise, we are near the train station of Orvieto and the Italian motorway network. This makes the hotel an ideal base for exploring the beautiful places in Central Italy day trips from Bolsena: Orvieto (20 Km) Civita di Bagnoregio (10 Km), Tarquinia (60 Km), Terme di Saturnia (60 Km), Viterbo Terme dei Papi (30 km), Bomarzo, Vulci. It is easily reachable by train from Rome with urban, Montefiascone (113 Km). Siena with direct bus from Bolsena (113 km). Florence by train from Orvieto (150 km). Perugia by train from Orvieto (98 km). The main airports are Rome (Fiumicino and Ciampino), if you rent a car, both have good access to the raccordo anulare. From Fiumicino airport to get to the Central Station (Termini) you can take the train Leonardo and from Ciampino take the bus to Central station or the shuttle that takes you to the car rental area, as it is 15 minute walk. The nearest mainstream airports are Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino and if you are driving, both have good access to the Rome ring road. Being newer, Rome Fiumicino is better organised, although being quite a lot bigger means actually getting through and out of the airport can take some time. At Ciampino, take the bus into the central station or find the courtesy bus that takes you round to the car hire area, as it's a 15 minute walk otherwise. Description:Bolsena is a delightful little town overlooking the eastern banks of the lake of the same name, on the Via Cassia 100 kms north of Rome, in the province of Viterbo. This part of Italy is full in history and local traditions, and immersed in rich, and largely unpolluted, natural surroundings. The clear waters of Lake Bolsena belong to the largest lake in Europe with volcanic origins. nAntica Posta stands in the town just outside the walls of the castle, and for a long time it was a postal station for the changing of the horses and a resting place for travellers along the Via Cassia. During the recent renovation it was equipped with the latest modern comforts, whereas the furnishings, original pieces from the beginning of the 1900s, suit the special architecture of the villa. nIn the garden next to the villa they have made a private swimming-pool for guests, and on the lawn alongside there is a large gazebo with tables and chairs. In an independent apartment next to the villa live the wardens, who also take care of the cleaning. The owners have a farm estate close by and produce excellent wines, and you can organize wine-tastings and a visit to the farm. The villa has air-conditioning in the bedrooms, heating, satellite-TV, washing-machine and dishwasher, broadband internet connection. nBolsena offers lots of recreational opportunities such as sailing, fishing, scuba diving, horse-riding and tennis. It takes just an hour by car to lots of interesting places such as Montalcino, the sea at Argentario, and Siena and Rome are 140 kms away.
