Description:A spacious, rural home only 15 minutes from Camden. You'll have plenty of room to spread out in our five bedroom antique farmhouse set on two acres of lawn with 54 more acres of rolling fields and woodlands and a magnificent view of the Camden Hills. The midcoast area is a tremendous vacation destination, but most rental properties are located in village or lakeside settings, which can be noisy. Our farmhouse offers a quiet retreat, yet is only minutes from Camden and other area towns, like Belfast, Rockport and Rockland. Lincolnville was voted one of the top 20 small towns in the US! Begin your day with coffee or tea on the deck or in one of our Adirondack chairs on the lawn. Hike through our own woods and fields, or from nearby trailheads in Camden Hills State Park. Biking can be great fun, since traffic isn't too bad once you're off Rte 1, and most of the secondary roads offer scenic vistas. Swim in Levenseller Pond, a five minute walk down our street, or at the town beach on Norton's Pond, two miles away in Lincolnville center, or in Penobscot Bay at Lincolnville beach, just 10 minutes away. Tour the several wineries located within a 30 minute drive, including the Cellardoor winery located right in Lincolnville. There are also several lighthouses within an hour's drive. The closest is on Islesboro, a short ferry ride from Lincolnville Beach. At the end of your day, pick up fresh cooked-to-order lobsters from the local lobster fisherman, and dine al fresco on our lawn, enjoying the mountain view. Of course, there are dozens of wonderful restaurants in the local area, if you don't want to eat at home. Acadia National Park is a 90-minute drive - close enough for day trips, and a must-visit for any Maine vacation. Camden, Rockport, Rockland and Belfast all offer a wealth of cultural, recreational and shopping opportunities. nMy aunt and I renovated our family homestead and are offering it for weekly rental from late Spring through mid Fall. The house, built sometime prior to 1830 based on the accordian lathe we found under the plaster, includes five spacious bedrooms and is fully furnished. My grandfather 'updated' the kitchen in the 1920s and converted the pantry into a bathroom in the 1930s, personally building all of the cabinetry in both rooms. An interesting historical note: our farm had one of the first indoor bathrooms in Lincolnville, and we're still using the original sink! The first floor includes a large eat-in farmhouse kitchen, bathroom, living room, den and two bedrooms. The front bedroom, called Emmie's room, has a double bed. The back bedroom (called the back bedroom) has a twin-sized trundle bed. A spacious front entry hallway leads upstairs to three more bedrooms - Barbara's room has a double bed, Robyn's bedroom has an old-fashioned 3/4 bed, and Rita's room offers a double bed and a twin bed. In addition to these bedrooms that can accommodate eleven people, there is a daybed in the den where one more person could sleep, if needed. We are fully stocked with books from the 19th and 20th centuries, jigsaw puzzles and vintage board games. We also have a pretty extensive library of Maine's native son, Stephen King - the master of suspense fiction - whose novels frequently take place in secluded Maine towns. You haven't experienced the full impact of a Stephen King novel until you've read it in a secluded Maine farmhouse!... more info >>
