Very light flat, but comes with interlined curtains that will make it reasonably dark for a good nights sleep. I've just added a new Heals Pocket spring with memory foam layer mattress to ensure a very comfortable nights sleep. Unusual in the Barbican the block is only one flat deep, so the walkway side catches the morning sun, which comes through to the bathroom. Set back from the road this flat is surprisingly quiet and spacious considering its extremely central location. See the Sat image photo. If you the postcode you sometimes get the view from the underground road (beech Street) Don't worry you will be staying above podium level, looking out over the fountain and gardens, and the main entrance to the block is on this level. The flat is a Studio, has a permanent double bed, separate living area, with danish designed sofa from the 60's, Coffee table, TV and an table area with 3 chairs for dining. It also has a unique desk & chair. It has a nice pair of ATC speakers and amp - so you can plug in any ipod/laptop/etc that takes a mini jack plug and play music. Wifi - broadband - is free The Barbican center is the City of London's cultural center with Music/Theater/Art and cinema surrounded by a carefully designed residential community. Whilst staying you will benefit from the resident privileges of the private gardens and lakeside walkways. The Barbican is a safe place, well connected by tubes, Barbican tube being 2 minutes walk, St Paul's and Moorgate just 7 Minutes away. Walk to St Paul's and you can then see the Millennium footbridge which takes you over to the Tate Modern Art Gallery and connects with the Southbank. The Barbican is on the edge of trendy Clerkenwell area, for excellent cafes, bars and nightlife.- or you can head 1/2 Mile east and you'll be in Hoxton /Shoreditch with its great selection of places. The Barbican has private garden & pond areas, that you will have access to as a guest. The Studio has a separate (very original) kitchen area, as well as full bathroom with shower fixture. The bath is great, the shower is simple , not a power shower, but works well. There is a small private balcony space also west facing. The flat is non smoking, suitable for 2 guests. There is a laundrette on the Barbican estate, (open 7am-9:30pm daily) that does service washes in the mornings. Tesco open 7am-11pm over the road, (couple of doors down from Barbican Tube) and larger supermarkets nearby. The flat has sky/broadband facilities, under-floor heating and a washer-dryer. There is also a large communal riverside roof-terrace with spectacular views of the River Thames and St Pauls (I recommend a glass of wine on the roof at sunset - perfect!). The apartment block has a porter and full lift access. Great, safe, central London location (zone 1) close to Mansion House tube & with easy access to London airports. The flat is perfect for seeing the sights of London and is less than 5minutes walk from St Paul's cathedral, Tate Modern and The Globe Theatre on the Southbank where you will find a wide array of bars and restaurants. The Tower of London and Tower Bridge (via Mansion house tube), as well as the London Dungeons at London Bridge are less than 20 minutes away. There are a couple of riverside bars and restaurants very close by that I would also recommend if you don’t fancy cooking! I often live in the flat midweek so you will find everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay. We have a brand new king-size Italian wallbed (simple pull-down motion) with top quality mattress. The way residents can walk over bridges, besides water and away from cars were all directly inspired by a trip the architects made to La Serenissima. And because it promised to turn its broad, rough concrete back on noisy City thoroughfares, the Barbican really could offer those who lived inside it something of the serenity of Venice. Description:Available for you to rent is a flat 5 mins walk from St Pauls Cathedral. The flat is in the perfect location for visiting the olympics as it is right on the 2012 London Olympic Marathon route (yes, you will see the runners pass by Little Britain!). The flat has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and living room / dining area. It is located right next to the Postman's Park so is quiet at night (as quiet as you can get in London!) with lots of shops and grocery shops nearby. There are several tube stops nearby which will get you around London and to the other Olympic sites very quickly - the Olympic main area is about 20mins tube ride from St Pauls / Bank station. Oxford Street is about 10 mins by tube (35 mins walking!). There is WiFi throughout the flat and the possibility of a car parking space if required (this will be extra).
