It's a quiet, gated community that shows off lush landscaping and beautiful lakes, which are home to multiple housing units consisting of luxurious single family homes and carefree villas. The neighbors are friendly and courteous (usually like to congregate around the pool). There's dozens of wonderful restaurants, beaches and golf courses within minutes of the 2nd floor condo, as we conveniently sit about 1 1/4 mile away from the Gulf. (homemade ice cream shop within walking distance-- yummy!!):) We just installed a new air-conditioning system and installed shutters throughout the interior of the condo. The screened-in lanai overlooks the beautiful pool. We are looking for rentors who will keep the condo clean and tidy. We also have a storage facility, where we have bikes, beach chairs, cooler, golf clubs, etc. -- for you to enjoy!!! Visit also Bonita Beach, Barefoot Preserve, Tigertail Beach (on Marco Island), and the one at the end of Captiva Island. Those are beautiful natural beaches, with only a few people around. Some let you enter for free if you get there later in the day (at around 4:00pm).. If you have kids, go to the Crab Race and the owner will tell you all about it. THE FUN STUFF Beaches of Estero (Fort Myers Beach) and Sanibel Islands are less than 15 minutes away. Retail outlets, restaurants and grocery are all nearby. Tanger Outlet Mall is about 2 miles away, while Miromar and Prime outlets are about 30 minutes driving by car. There are also a number of water parks, miniature golf facilities in close proximity to the house. A number of nature preserves and State Parks in the area make for great entertainment for young and old alike. Try an air boat ride, paddling a kayak through mangroves, fishing off one of many piers throughout the region, deep sea fishing with a charter company. All within easy and quick access to our home. For art and history buffs, there are museums and art galleries like the Ford and Edison Winter Estates in our downtown, Fort Myers Art Walk, Shell Factory, the Baily-Matthews Shell Museum to name but a very few. Beaches of Estero (Fort Myers Beach) and Sanibel Islands are great and it costs $2/hr to park there. At the end of Captiva Island is a parking area for the beach/ Nature Preserve (only $1/hr parking fee). As the tide goes out, the tidal pools are forming, and you can have fun finding crabs, starfish, minnows, and other creatures in them. You can see manatees swim just before the entrance to Lover's Key State Park. If nature is your interest, make sure to visit Bowditch Point Park. It's located at the northern tip of Estero Island. Here, you will be amazed at how many different things there are to see, both on land and at sea! Before leaving the island, you can stop at one of the restaurants, go shopping in one of the many shops that line the streets, or get fudge for the sweet craving one may desire. Along San Carlos Blvd, be sure to stop at Love Boat Homemade Ice Cream for an unforgettable treat. On Fort Myers Beach you can do Deep Fishing or take a ride on SAILBOAT for the sunset CRUISE, go boating or see fantastic sunsets by the pier. Go to Top of the Mast and the DJ will play any songs that you request and you can dance in the sand! Try The Smokin Oyster Bar for a great groupper sandwich and Anthony's On the Gulf for a nice prime rib dinner outside. Breakfast at The Heavenly Biscuit is hard to beat. Visit Nervous Nellie's Restaurant at Fort Meyers Beach. This is just west of the bridge leading to Ft Meyers Beach on the north side. This could be your favorite dining experience as you seat on the deck next to the docks and watch the dolphins playing. The food is awesome also. Joe's Crab Shack on West First Street in Fort Meyers has seating directly over the ocean and the kids will have a good menu to choose from. The Sanibel Causeway makes going to the beach real accessible. Ride to Sanibel and Captiva islands and just check things out. The homes there are so beautiful. Have fun on the BIG M CASINO BOAT. The ride (9 miles out and back) is worth the $6.00 to get on the Sanibel's bridge. You can rent a bike on Sanibel and ride on the walkway around the whole Island. There are some good restaurants close by. There are also a number of water parks, miniature golf facilities in close proximity to the house. GOLF - you are able to use some public and some private, but if you are a serious golfer and do not might driving about 30 min, you can find some challenging courses in Naples and Bonita Springs. Also before you get to Ft.Myers Beach there are 2 MINI GOLFs. There are plenty of places to go. You can go to the Bell Tower Mall which has outdoors shoping, several RESTAURANTS and MOVIE THEATRE with 12 MOVIES showing. When you go onto main Road 41 (about 15 minutes drive) you will see all the big RESTAURANTs, BIG STORES and SPECIALTY OUTLET shops. The HOSPITAL is about 15 min away and called Healthpark. A number of nature preserves and State Parks in the area make for great entertainment for young and old alike. Visit Lover's Key for fantastic shells. Try an air boat ride, paddling a kayak through mangroves, fishing off one of many piers throughout the area, deep sea fishing with a charter company. All within short driving distance from our home. As a desirable vacation destination, Fort Myers and its neighboring cities attract thousands of visitors annually. Much remains as it was hundreds of years ago, serene and unspoiled. Mangrove forests, saltwater wetlands, wildlife refuges, tropical gardens, nature trails, miles of winding canals and waterways, and hundreds of islands, some inhabited, some not, provide a magical retreat from the fast-paced world. Fort Myers Located on the southern bank of the Caloosahatchee River and known as the “City of Palms”, Fort Myers is rich in history, Civil War settlement, and Seminole Indian legacies. The wide Caloosahatchee River diagonally divides the city from Cape Coral to the west, and North Fort Myers just across the Edison Bridge. You'll never be bored here. Cultural attractions like the Imaginarium and the Arcade Theatre mix with beach activities. The annual Edison Festival of Light unites everyone in the city for a citywide celebration. Sanibel Island Southwest of Fort Myers is the popular island of Sanibel, 12 miles long and 5 miles wide, connected at a narrow point. With a reputation for great fishing, windsurfing, shell collecting, bird watching and other outdoor pursuits, the best way to get around the island is by bicycle. Visit the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum and the Sanibel Gallery. Golf and tennis are available at the Dunes Golf and Tennis Club on the eastern end of the island, the Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa . The J. N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, is a must-see. Captiva Island Upper Captiva, at the northern end of Sanibel Island, is about 4.5 miles long and a half mile wide. It is mostly a wildlife sanctuary and the perfect place to go for seclusion and privacy. This barrier island is a great place to view dolphins, birds, and beautiful sunsets. Fort Myers Beach Fifteen minutes south of Fort Myers along the Gulf coast is Fort Myers Beach. A popular retreat for vacationers with many quaint restaurants like Channel Mark Restaurant and unique hotels like Pointe Estero Beach Resort, it offers charter fishing, cruises and tours to neighboring islands or all the way to Key West. Combing these shores to look for the dark gems has always been a favorite pastime of visitors and residents here because these teeth make great collectibles. The teeth range in size from one-eighth inch to three inches and may be black, brown, or gray, depending on the type of minerals, deposits, and vegetation in the soil in which they have been buried. To start your own collection, you have to take a walk along the shore and hopefully discover sharks' teeth, for which the beach is famous countrywide. - Stump Pass Beach State Park is #1 attraction in Englewood The main attraction at this park is the beach and the fact that it has a large amount of sharks teeth just waiting to be found. What makes this beach different are the sharks teeth which are washed up on shore. Many locals walk along the shore line collecting sharks teeth. Most of the teeth are small and black and shaped like a Y, however occasionally you will find a really large one, which is a lovely keepsake of the area! They are usually black because they're so old, but sometimes you can find new teeth that are more gray towards the tip. On occasion, if you are there enough and do enough digging, you can uncover some real monster teeth. These are from the ancient Megladon sharks and can be worth a lot of money depending on the size and condition. It only costs $3 for an all-day park pass versus the 75 cents per hour at Englewood Beach just down the road and it shouldn't be hard to fund a spot as most of the tourism happens farther North up at Siesta Key. Great place to fish, lay on the beach and snorkel. Plus you can leave and come back to watch sunset for no extra cost! Estero Island attracts thousands of visitors from Germany, France and the United Kingdom each year as well as many folks from the Midwest and east coast of the states. What draws all these visitors to our small beach community you ask? Miles and miles of white, powdery beaches. Honestly, Fort Myers Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Not sold yet on vacationing here on Estero Island? Well, let me tell you about The Anchorage Beach Home. Our lovely beach home is a duplex. It is perfect for two families vacationing together or one big family to spread out! We refer to the two sides as “Sunrise and Sunset” which together comprise “The Anchorage.” Our beach home boasts tasteful, tropical, airy furnishings. We refer to the two sides as “Sunrise and Relax on the lanai, dine under the large umbrella-ed deck or take a cool shower in your own private, outdoor shower. Just added, an in-ground, private, heated, swimming pool! Relax with a cold cocktail while sitting on one of the submerged stools, or maybe enjoying a fun game of water volleyball is more your style ... Just steps (about one football field) to the beach for some of the best shelling in the country, midnight star gazing and awesome sunset celebrations all at half the cost of staying beachfront. To get to the beach you simply walk out the front door, down Anchorage St. for a 2 min. walk. Immediately to the right of the beachfront home is our deeded beach access. No need to worry about wandering little ones we have a beach cart to carry your treasures (kids, coolers, towels, chairs, etc) to the beach effortlessly. Here’s the basic layout of our beach home. Right Side (Sunset) You can enter the right side of the house (Sunset) through the screened lanai. There are two bedrooms on the ground level floor. They are best described as suites. Both offer views to the in-ground swimming pool and have separate outdoor entrances. The suites can be connected to each other through a door that can be left locked for privacy or open for company. Each of these bedrooms has its own bathroom, living area consisting of chair, couch and TV as well as an outdoor porch with chairs. One of these bedrooms (queen bed) has a half bathroom and the other (queen bed) has a full bathroom, laundry facility as well as a kitchenette. The private, outdoor shower can be accessed through the hallway the leads to these bedrooms and upstairs. Upstairs you will you find the family room, kitchen, 2 decks, full sized laundry facilities, 2 bedroom (1 king and 1 queen), full bathroom and bar area with stools and dining area. Both decks are outfitted with tables and chairs. The left side of the house (Sunrise) has a separate, private entrance. It contains a small deck with table and chairs, family room, full bathroom, bedroom (king) loaded kitchen, bar area with stools and dining area. Our kitchens have everything you need and more: refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove/oven, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, silverware and dinnerware and all the gadgets you will need whenever you are cooking in.
