A winding walkway leads through stands of juniper, mountain laurel and rhododendron to boulder steps at the water 's edge and our private boat dock. Sip a cup of steaming coffee on the deck overlooking the lake as the sun crests the mountains. Explore Lake Glenville by canoe or kayak in the tranquility of early morning or tee-off at one of the nearby golf courses as morning mist gives way to bright sunshine. Our Smoky Mountain vacation home has over 200 feet of waterfront on Lake Glenville. Lakeside Cottage at the Point enjoys a million-dollar view of glistening Lake Glenville. Fed by five mountain streams, Lake Glenville is 4.5 miles long and covers more than 1,460 acres. Its twenty-six miles of shoreline meanders past canopied country roads, Christmas tree farms and picturesque waterfront homes. At 3,800 ' elevation, Lake Glenville is the highest mountain lake east of the Mississippi River. It is the ideal destination for a family vacation, a Big Chill gathering of friends, family reunion or weekend getaway. The interior of our two-story vacation rental home reflects the ambiance of a sophisticated mountain cabin. Features include hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, sunken great room with wood-burning, stone fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, double oven and custom cabinets. Peace, calm and well being envelop you upon arrival and will keep you spellbound until you leave. nNestled among the oak and pine on the shore of Lake Glenville is one of the lake’s most magnificent properties. Lake Glenville at 3500 ft., fed by 4 waterfalls with 26 miles of shoreline, is the highest man made lake east of the Mississippi: widely known for its exquisite beauty, purity and temperate summer climate. Designed 5 years ago by the famed William T. Baker, this house seems both lodge and gracious home. The soaring 23-foot great room with its massive beamed ceiling, large stone fireplace and immense windows boasts an unbelievable view a mile down the lake, evoking a sense of grandeur well beyond the ordinary. nLife here is at its best however when you are outside. But there are too many choices! Relax on the large covered porch under the ceiling fan with your feet up listening to music. Or perhaps unwind in the evening with a glass of your favorite libation, sitting with friends and family on the expansive, westward facing deck at mid tree level, looking out at the lake, mountains, sunset and countless stars. Gentle cool breezes wafting through the trees and the sounds of the crickets have caressed many into a relaxed trance. Wind your way down to the stone amphitheater with its large fire-pit near the shore for storytelling and s’mores. Early risers can start the day by sitting with a cup of coffee on the 16’x20’ dock (stretching 50ft out into the lake), often shrouded in the typical summer morning fog, listening to the sounds of the ducks, geese and jumping fish.
