The canal is a hidden gem that few tourists know but Londoners love to commute, stroll, eat (many great pubs and restaurants along). Strongly recommend biking in all directions with quick access to Angel, Broadway mrkt, Victoria park and Canary wharf. A short walk brings you to hip Shorditch with its clubs, bars and famous cafes. The flat is light and airy, and all visitors comment on how relaxing it is. WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE - imagine all the services you expect from a hotel, with all the privacy and comfort you expect from being at home! ADDITIONAL STUFF Unusually for a big city I know my neighbours, who are all very approachable, helpful and friendly - in fact this block of flats is like a mini-village in the heart of London. And there is no main road, the block is part of a triangle that surrounds a small park, so there's no noisy traffic driving past the windows. I've never felt so happy or safe living anywhere else! Another great thing about this flat is its location. It is in trendy Angel, which is simply full of things to do - there are fantastic shops, and so many wonderful restaurants and bars its difficult to choose which ones to go to. The flat is seconds away from the Regents Canal. Its a stunning place with never-ending wallks, with pubs and cafe's dotted along the way. If you're here in the summer you'll be crazy not to go, it offers a hidden London and a refreshing alternative to the usual tourist traps. The flat is walking distance to dozens of cinemas, restaurants, bars, museums and theatres. The West End, Soho and Covent Garden are a quick cab ride away or walkable on a nice day. Or if you're a little more alternative arty Shoreditch and Brick Lane are also just down the road. And if you fancy including a weekend in Paris or Brussels on your trip, the Eurostar at Kings Cross is a 15 minute walk away. Our apartment is centrally located in Islington / Canonbury (N1 to N5) - a quiet but central neighbourhood about 15 minutes away from everywhere. It is on the East London Line (4 minutes walk to the nearest tube). It is also on all the key bus lines. All in all, you can get to Central or East London pretty quick: Angel (10 minutes away) Kings Cross (15 minutes) Oxford Circus (30 minutes by either tube or bus) trendy Shoreditch (15 minutes direct by our local tube or by bus) and even the Olympics in Stratford (just 4 stops away on the Overland train station near us). Should you come stay here, let me know what sort of things you like doing and we can suggest restaurants, cafes and days out for you (I work in PR and can book stuff for you, too). The flat is a tardis, a small flat which makes an amazing use of space. It has a separate study, kitchen, living room and dining room, connected by a corridor. It even has a little terrace, a suntrap in the morning. The flat is brightly lit through a huge skylight. The flat is newly refurbished and has all mod cons: kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer WIFI internet throughout large flat screen TV and DVD. My little castle consists of a kitchen with a sitting corner that you of course are welcome to use for elaborate cooking or elementary teas a bedroom a sitting room a separate shower room (can be quite handy when more people are getting ready to leave the house) & a toilet. The bedroom has a double bed and there is another spare mattress which could accommodate another 1 or 2 people (but that second option would be a mattress on the floor). The flat is just above a café, which is open 6am - 7pm, so if you are not the early type for food preparation, you can just nip downstairs for coffee, fresh pressed juices, sandwiches, full English or what your heart desires in the morning. The setting is relative central and within walking distance is the lively Angel neighbourhood with pubs, restaurants & bars as well as walks in an authentic English semi-residential area with attached houses and front gardens that still make me smile inwards, though I've been here for four years! Southwards is the King's X area leading onto Bloomsbury and Clerkenwell, which are absolutely lovely. You'll also find the Regent's Canal. 30 minutes walk alongside that will take you to the famous Camden Market. If you are a great walker, you might -as I- enjoy to cross all of London to the Southbank Centre within an hour. If that seem scary, the transport links are: The flat is in between of Angel & King's Cross tube stations (5-10 mins either way), close to Caledonian Road & Barnsbury overland station, 15 mins walk from Central St Pancras, where the Eurostar arrives from Paris and Bruxelles.
