Molokai isn't for everyone. It is a very remote island and one of the only islands left in it prestine state. If you are looking for night life, Molokai is not for you. If you are looking to relax and wind down and get away from a busy, chaotic life then Molokai is for you. No stop lights on the island, no traffic, remote beaches, peace and serenity. n nThe only downfall to Molokai is recently The Ranch which owns alot of property on the West End shut down all it's operations. So 3 complexes which includes Kepuhi Beach Resort, Ke Nani Kai and Paniole Hale surround a closed golf course and hotel. Don't let this hinder your stay. The condo complex grounds are beautifully kept, quiet, walking distance to the beach and will still offer you a relaxing time. There is a lot to do on Molokai as well. Mule ride down to Kalaupapa, where Father Damien who once helped the Leper Colony just received his sainthood, snorkeling, diving, surfing, hiking and beautiful secluded beaches. The washer and dryer are in one of the closets in the master bedroom.The second bedroom has a queen and twin bed along with its own bathroom. There is another TV in there to help the kids wind down in the evening after a long day of swimming and touring. Downstairs is an open floor plan. Upon entering the unit, you are immediately welcomed by an incredible view of the ocean. The kitchen, dining room, living room and second lanai are all on the first floor. Watch boats (and in the winter, whales) sail by while you cook meals in the modern kitchen with granite counters, pecan cabinets, and all the appliances youe28099ll need for a gourmet feast or hot dogs.The unit is decorated in the old Hawaiian style with reproduced petroglyphs above the sliders. They were copied from the 900 year old carvings found south of Lahaina. The sofa bed makes into a queen but is only 6 feet long. It is comfortable, and we sleep down there if we have given up our master bedroom to friends staying with us. Enjoy breakfast on the lanai, and look across the ocean to the neighboring islands. There is another TV here in the living room, also.The entire length of one wall is floor to ceiling glass, so it makes the unit seem twice the size. Plus you can see the ocean from any point in the downstairs area.Wildlife tOur bay has 7 resident Giant Green Sea Turtles, with e2809cBubbae2809d being over 6 feet long from head to tail. Approach them slowly and keep your arms against your body. Theye28099ll accept you as a fellow swimmer. Looking eyeball to eyeball from just a few feet a part seems to establish an understanding that we all have an obligation to preserve the beauty of Hawaii. Snorkeling with these gentle giants is an experience not soon forgotten. Having a bounty of beautiful island fish adds to the experience.One female Monk Seal has found our bay a safe haven. Every couple weeks she arrives about daylight and stays till the evening, sunning herself and occasionally throwing wet sand over her body. Since there are only about 500 left world wide, picking our bay is quite a compliment. Touching or harming her in any way is a federal crime, but then again , who would want to irritate 600 to 800 pounds of seal?In late September we are usually graced with the arrival of about a dozen Eagle Rays who use the quiet surf on our beach for mating purposes. They are beautiful with their backs looking like the sky over Montana at night.
