Description:High on the side of a hill, looking out over the folds of the Chianti landscape, Casa Silvia is an enchantingly simple house, with terraces and gardens ranged around it allowing you to follow the sun or avoid it. This is a house designed for reading, sipping wine and setting the world to rights, relaxed in an armchair watching the sun change the colours of the hills as it sinks in the distance. A path leads to the nearby Loro Ciuffena - a 20 minute walk that avoids the roads and gets you in the mood for one of the good local restaurants - remember to take a torch for your walk back amongst the fireflies. nThe front of the house has a large shaded pergola. One enters to find a living room to the left with a wood-burning stove, and a well-equipped kitchen which opens directly out onto a private garden with stunning views. Up the stairs there is a comfortable double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a small single bedroom and a very cosy (but not small!) study with a fireplace and access to a covered terrace. The furniture is simple and stylish, and the house retains its country charm. nThe house is set against the hillside of Pratomagno - a chain of hills rising to 1591 metres - around 4500 feet - all within protected National Park status. There are beautiful walks, ancient monasteries set in chestnut woods, and cycling trails. Florence is very close by, and can be reached by train, avoiding parking and driving problems. Siena and Arezzo are within an hour. The house is ideally positioned to explore Tuscany and makes a perfect peaceful retreat to return to when even the delights of Giotto or Piero della Francesca start to pall.... more info >>

Description:A great family vacation would sure take place at this rental in Tuscany! Apart from the swimming pool in the large landscaped back yard that is surrounded by olive groves, this Tuscany villa is spacious, well equipped, and comfortable. If you 're looking to visit throughout Tuscany, this villa for rent is in a great location and has easy access to all the renowned towns and cities of the famous Italian region. n n(1500m2) nThe villa is situated in a panoramic and quiet position in Pratomagno, which is the heart of the Upper Arno Valley. It is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. There is a covered terrace furnished with a table and chairs that leads to the private swimming pool (6m x 12m). The swimming pool is surrounded by a large grass landscaped garden with 12 sun loungers. Access to the property is via an unpaved road, but it is situated behind an electronic gate and parking is available within a covered garage for three cars. The owners live in a house 100 meters away in a private area but do not use the swimming pool. n n(210m2) nGround floor: There is a living room with two couches (one of which is a sofa bed suitable for one), armchairs, satellite TV, DVD player, VCR, stereo with CD player, and Playstation 2. The kitchen is equipped with a cook-top, oven, toaster, and dishwasher as well as a dining table with chairs. There is one bedroom with a 160 cm queen-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, shower, and washing machine. nFirst floor: A staircase of 15 steps leads to this floor where there are four bedrooms. The first, second, and third bedrooms each have a 160 cm queen-sized bed and the fourth bedroom has a set of bunk beds, suitable for children. There are two bathrooms. The first bathroom has a sink, toilet, and shower and the second bathroom has a sink, toilet, and tub with a handheld shower. n nThe village of Loro Ciuffenna is located two kilometers from the property, although there is a bus stop 150 meters away that can take you into town. Loro Ciuffenna dates back to the year 939 and today has some modern shops and restaurants although it still maintains the look and feel of a medieval village. The Church of Santa Maria Assunta sits on the highest point of the town and offers lovely views. The nearest train station is in Montevarchi and is 12 kilometers away. Arezzo, the charming town used as the backdrop for Roberto Benigni 's Life is Beautiful, is less than an hour drive away and is perfect for a day trip. Once one of the most important Etruscan cities, today Arezzo is beautiful for an array of architecture spanning centuries, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheatre and the Medici Fortress. The first weekend of each month brings a popular antique fair, while annually there is a festival called Joust of the Saracens, where all of the citizens dress in medieval attire and knights representing each part of the city charge at a target representing a Saracen king.
