Building is from 1936. Centrally located and close to West Hollywood, Beverly HIlls and Hollywood attractions. Hardwood floors throughout. Street parking, public transit close by, coin operated laundry in building, and garden patio area outside back door for quiet reading or having a cup of coffee. I have lived in this apartment for 20 years and I am renting out my extra bedroom. Nice, quiet, 45 yo, work-at-home gay man. Great place for a couple on vacation for a few days or someone working in the area who doesn't want to stay in a hotel. Full kitchen, living room and dining room privileges. Living room has a 46 flat screen, blu-ray, wifi, and apple tv, Netflix streaming, and I will gladly share. The bedroom has a brand new queen sized mattress and bed and is very comfortable. Plenty of street parking and great access to all public transit. I gave up my car 15 years ago and have been using public transit since, with very few regrets. I can show you how to get just about anywhere you'd like to go by way of bus, subway or train and I'd be happy to help. I also have a membership to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and I can share my membership card with you to get yourself and another person free admission. It's not my rule but there are no pets allowed in the building, so if you have an animal it's not the place for you, sorry. It was a great stepping stone.------------------I was pleaseantly surprised by Chateau de Soleil - so much that I cancelled a two day reservation at another hostel and extended my stay at the Chateau.I found the manager - Gary - extremely helpful and chatty, and he provided me with assistance beyond the simple practicalities of the stay itself (such as directions, printing a few documents etc.).My stay was in the low season - there were plenty of open beds - which probably have given me a different experience than someone arriving in the peak season when the place is buzzing. The atmosphere is relaxed and most of the people living here were long-term residents who studied in the neighborhood (mainly actors, directors, dancers etc). If you're expecting to meet tons of new people to do things with and party all the time, then this place might not be for you (at least in the off-season ,can't speak for the peak season). On the other hand if you're looking for a good and cheap place to live along with a bunch of other nice people then I highly recommend you to consider staying at the Chateau.The location is not that bad, but don't expect to walk out the front door and be in the middle of all the action. Personally I didn't mind walking for 10-15 minuttes to and from the North Hollywood metro station. I have a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment of which one of the bedrooms is available for a short/long term stay. The room has a large closet on one side and a large window on the other. Currently there is no t.v. inside the room itself (it will have one withing the next 6 weeks) but there is a t.v. in the living room with cable that you are welcome to use. Please note that the bathroom (tub and shower) for this room is in the hallway, right outside the room and not inside. The apartment is one block away from the Metro bus and Santa Monica Blue bus stops. 1 block away from Bank of America, post office and library. 4 blocks away from the grocery store (Vons). There are also many restaurants withing walking distance (Japanese, Korean barbecue, sushi, noodle house, pizza and more) all on the trendy Sawtelle area with boutiques, coffee shops and yoga studio. Go hiking in the Santa Monica/Brentwood mountains, surfing in the ocean, visit the Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade. Malibu, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Venice, The Getty Museum, LACMA, Chinese Theater, Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall and Griffith Observatory. It's 2 miles to The Grove and 2 miles to the center of West Hollywood. 1 mile from Cedars-Sinai and the Beverly Center. I'm a 10 minute drive to Culver City, 15 minute drive to the heart of Hollywood or the ocean and a 20-minute drive from LAX or to Downtown. This guest room has a firm comfortable, double bed with excellent bedding. There is available drawers and walk-in closet space, as well as, zippy WiFi. It shares the large master bathroom with me with a separate hall entrance. There is a full separate tub and shower stall. The apartment is a large well-appointed 3 bedroom upper flat in a duplex with old-world (1920's), Mediterranean charm with all the original architectural details. There is also a lovely back patio and front porch for enjoying our legendary L.A. weather. There is central AC & Heat, a large working fireplace, free laundry facilities and safe street parking. I am not at all territorial and have indicated on the photos which areas are shared and which are private. If you are more comfortable hanging out in your comfortable room - no problem. If you prefer hanging out or have work in any of the shared spaces - again, no problem. It's all about what makes you comfortable. I have a young Cocker Spaniel goof-ball named Buddy and a small mutt named Hazel who are sweet, mostly very quiet and have never met anyone they don't like. The free street parking is usually easy.
