The House and Lodge sleep up to 61 with single and double solid wood bunk beds complete with linens, comforters and pillows, 8 full bathrooms with linen, a full kitchen and great room with a wood burning stove. In addition, if your retreat is of a larger scale with youth or adults attending, we feature cabins, tent and cabin platforms to lodge 500 if need be! The Lodge and House face west so one can enjoy the gorgeous sunsets night after night. On the upper grounds, we offer shared accommodations for sixty-one, with very comfortable, single & bunk-beds, nice linens and hall bathrooms. nUpper Grounds nConsider what it would be like to plan your next think tank or strategic planning event in an environment rich with fresh air, relaxing accommodations, a customized menu, and all the amenities of home. nOur meeting facilities offers wireless internet, AV equipment, and room set-up to meet your needs. The Dining Hall annex is also a popular area where a group may enjoy the warmth of a fireplace, and views of the western hills while holding your meeting or kick-off dinner. nThe House and Lodge comes with a large, full kitchen and great room with sofas and tables so you can light up the wood-burning stove and have a truly inspired event. nIn The House, we have a full kitchen, great room with cozy couches and a wood-fired stove for warming your insides during the winter months. Remodeled for our retreat use, it sleeps seventeen. There are two nbedrooms, each sleeping three, on the main floor. The Upper Lodge has four rooms, each sleeping four, and one room sleeping six, also with two hall baths. The Studio has a single bed, along with a desk overlooking the property, a mini-fridge and sofa, plus a deck with a gorgeous view to the west. The adjacent loft quarters sleep five total, with a shared bath. nLower Grounds nJust down the hill from The House & Lodge, you will find simple, dorm-style lodging in our cabins. The lower grounds offer four dorm-style heated, cabins. Each cabin is partitioned into three rooms, each room sleeping a maximum of sixteen individuals, in bunk-beds. The shower house is a short walk from the cabins. Throughout the property we also have platform cabins and tents if you prefer to get away from it all and enjoy Cedar Ridge the rustic way. nActivities: nFood nOur menu is designed to provide great tasting meals that are good tasting and good for you. We do our best to support our local purveyors and farmers because we believe it is the right thing to do, and we seek to purchase organic whenever feasible. Description:Villa della Torre is a large, historic estate halfway between Florence and Siena (22 miles each), perched on a hilltop amidst a lush green countryside. This location is outstanding: From the garden you can enjoy stunning views of the gentle rolling hills, vineyards, olive trees leading to the extraordinary ancient towers of San Gimignano in the distance. The valley below is of rare beauty. The antique tower dates back to around the year 1000, the villa itself and the adjoining buildings to the middle of the 18th century. The massive walls, high wood-panelled ceilings, arches, wall friezes and wall frescoes, stuccoes and hand-painted ceilings in some of the rooms enhance the special atmosphere of this ancient house. Until recently used as the summer retreat for a Florentine family the villa has now been carefully divided into holiday apartments. All the original materials have been preserved or harmoniously matched with contemporary equivalents during this restoration that converted this grand Villa into different apartments. The individual rooms are designed to preserve the elegance of times past and, at the same time, provide comfort for present-day guests. nAll apartments have retained a charming ancient character due to the original antique furniture. Tuscan colored walls, terracotta floors, beautiful mirrors with gold-painted baroque frames create a charming atmosphere resonant with history and art. This estate guarantees a lot of privacy: altogether the apartments occupy an area of 900 m2 and each has its own outdoor area. The lovely outdoor spots are located either in the large garden, under the old holm oaks, on a terrace or in an inner court at the rear of the villa. The beautiful classical Tuscan garden with hand-carved stone balusters is laid out on the south side of the villa. Rosemary and lavender bushes line the path to the large and elegant pool, which is spectacularly located on a plateau of English lawn and sits high above the valley. Even when swimming in the pool you can savour the enchanting view of one of the most beautiful Chianti valleys. The panoramic view is magnificent, maybe even unsurpassable. And to add to your pleasure, the park and the pool are romantically lit in the evening. It may sound exaggerated but we want to say it: you can feel the surface of the globe here! nLocation of the apartments: nFour apartments are located inside the villa (Torre, Affresco, Caminetto and Terrazza). Other four (Oleandri, Le Volte, Cortile and Nido) are located in adjoining buildings at the rear of the villa (not towards the garden). Two apartments (Giardino and Bellavista) are located also in adjoining buildings but are in the garden of the villa. nOutdoor areas of the apartments: nEach apartment has its own private outdoor area: Torre, Affresco and Caminetto inside the garden in front of the villa, Giardino and Bellavista just in front of the apartment located towards the garden, Terrazza has it 's own private and panoramic terrace, Oleandri, Le Volte, Cortile and Nido have their outdoor area outside the walls of the villa, in the separate inner court with well - Oleandri and Le Volte just in front of the apartment, Cortile and Nido just a few steps down (approx. 5 m distant). nVilla della Torre is an active Azienda Agricola and cultivates the neighbouring fields. You may stroll through the olive groves and vineyards surrounding the Villa and taste the Chianti wine, olive oil and superb grappa produced by the farm. The farm organises wine tastings free of charge in the nearby wine cellar, and the recently awarded Super Tuscan wine is excellent. nWhat to do in the region? nA family-owned Tuscan restaurant with a nice patio, a small alimentari (corner store) and one of the oldest churches of the region are within walking distance (approx. 800 m). (Bring a torch if you like to walk - as the street to the restaurant is not illuminated). In the proximity of the villa there is a great variety of small trattorias and specialty restaurants - each night you can dine in a new place (we will provide you with tips for this region). 2 km away you can find a grocery shop, a butcher, a pharmacy, post and a nice breakfast bar, a big supermarket, all necessary shops and several restaurants are in Certaldo, 7 km away. Villa della Torre is a perfect starting point to explore Tuscany: situated in the heart of Chianti, it is a short drive to Florence and Siena. The villa 's location only 7 km from the railway station of Certaldo is a good base to visit Florence and Siena even without a car: You can park your car in Certaldo (free parking behind the railway station) and take the train in both directions. During the week, trains to Florence/Siena and back go regularly (approx. every 1.5 or 2 hours). The train ride takes less than an hour. In Florence the train will take you to the main train station which is right in the centre of Florence - it is just a short walk from the station Santa Maria Novella to the Cathedral or the Uffizi.
