Description:If you are looking for absolutely breathtaking 360-degree views enjoyed in complete privacy five to eight minutes drive from two quaint harbor towns, then this vacation getaway is for you. Perched high on a mountainside, this house is of Log/Post and Beam construction with open floor plan, large wrap-around porch, lofts, cathedral ceiling, and with windows and skylights on all sides to let in the truly magnificent, commanding vistas. The house sleeps up to eight people in two open loft bedrooms and a cozy, visually private guestroom/library on two Queen sized beds, one Queen sofa bed and one Full-sized futon pullout sofa, all very comfortable. There is a whirlpool tub and a stand-up shower, plus a half bath with sunken vessel sink. A country kitchen including a classic cast iron/enameled cook stove, gas range, and slate countertops with mountain views from the sink. elegant décor throughout. This house is intimate and romantic, while the views on all sides bring the outside in and lend it an incredibly expansive feel. Jaw-dropping! The peace and quiet and privacy here will amaze you, and there is virtually no traffic near us as we are situated at the turnaround of a small paved road high on the slope, and at the end of a long, steep private drive. On the surrounding mountains to the Ocean, on all sides you will see nothing but forests and meadows dotted by a few fine houses in the distance with their cheerful lights at night. Forests below you and blueberry fields above, you look down over the lush treetops or pick your own blueberries in season above the house. All neighbors are acres away and almost completely invisible. You will have to crick your neck to see the rooftop of one of them behind you from the wide porch, and then you will only see a part of a roof. You may see bald eagles and hawks soar below you! You see dozens of the islands on the Ocean, with Cadillac Mountain in the distance on Mt. Desert Island in Acadia National Park 50 miles away as the crow flies. The sunrise—if you are up for it—will sparkle on the water and sunsets will turn it a deep pink. The area provides infinite possibility for the Nature lover, sailor, historian, art aficionado, birdwatcher or stargazer. For those who long for the water there are daysails, bareboat charters (better be an experienced skipper), lighthouse trips, lobster fishing cruises and ecotours, lobster-bakes on islands, ferries, whale-watching, kayak and rafting trips, and three to six day nautical adventures on the classic tall ships and wooden schooners known locally and historically as Windjammers. For landlubbers there are hiking trails, starting right outside your door, all over Camden Hills State Park and beyond, as well as on breathtakingly beautiful trails known only to locals, which we will share with you when you come. If you are a bird lover, you will have an overwhelming chorus of birdsong right up at the house. The night sky is amazing. There is world-class cuisine and all manner of dining experiences, from waterfront fish-shacks to French to be had in the area, as well as the Farnsworth Art Museum, home of the Wyeth collection, and historic old harbors and quaint, busy waterfronts everywhere, filled with fishing vessels, luxury yachts from all over the world, and classic wooden sailboats. Two night minimum off season. High season: Saturday to Saturday weekly rentals preferred June through early September, but we can talk about flexibility in some cases. All rates are subject to a 7% State of Maine Lodging Tax weekly maid-service is included. The house is equipped with wireless access and cable. Description:Enjoy uninterrupted peace and quiet on the Maine coast in this rustic cabin perfect for artists, writers, or anyone else wanting to unplug and unwind for a few days or weeks. This charming cabin, built in 1982, is situated only 50 feet from the water's edge, and, with only one house visible through the woods, it is difficult to find a more private location than this. The cabin is of rustic design, with one private bedroom and single common area that includes a kitchenette, eat-in table, couch, and TV (no cable though). Above the common area is a loft with two twin bed mattresses, accessible by a wooden ladder. Off the common area is an enclosed composting toilet. There is no shower so all washing up must be done in the bath tub. There is no internet or telephone connection. The small wood stove is no longer functional, but three portable electric heaters are kept permanently in the cabin for any chilly Maine nights. Such simple living is certainly not for everyone, but can be a tremendous treat for those interested in enjoying this beautiful natural setting. The cabin looks over a salt river (Back River) which is part of the ocean but looks more like a river/lake due to the protection of Barter's Island across the water. The cove that the cabin sits on is tidal, which means that half the time you are looking at the ocean and half the time it is a natural mud flat. So the view changes every 6 hours! To enjoy the water to its fullest when the tide is up, a double kayak may be rented from the property owners at a very reasonable rate. The cabin is located 5 minutes drive from lovely Boothbay Harbor, a stunning destination for travelers of all kinds. Enjoy fine local seafood, kayaking, whale watching, sunset sailing trips, and the charming downtown with its quaint shops. There are also many beautiful walking trails through the Boothbay Region Land Trust, along with one of the world's finest botanical gardens at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, located only 2 miles from the cabin. Description:A cozy cabin in the woods on the shore of a pristine lake, for a perfect get-away. Relax and enjoy sunsets across the water from the deck, surrounded by forest silence, punctuated by loons calling and bald eagles diving for fish. nExcellent fresh water swimming, boating and fishing, kayaks and canoes available for rent at The Activity Shop in Blue Hill. Sandy beach for playing and relaxing. n nLedge Lodge cabin is nestled in woods on the shoreline of Walker Pond at the foot of Caterpillar Hill. The mile long gravel drive from Route 15 down to the lake offers the visitor opportunity to see deer, wild turkey and black bear. The natural beauty of the area has attracted many artists, whose studios and galleries are open to visitors. The historic fishing and granite quarrying town of Stonington on Deer Isle is about a forty minute drive south on Route 15. Fresh fish and lobster can be purchased daily from the lobster pound on the wharf. The mail boat takes passengers on daily trips to Isle au Haut. There is a granite museum and several waterfront restaurants in Stonington. n nFarmers Open Air Markets thrive in the summer months, bursting with fresh organic produce picked on the farm the same morning. Brooksville Farmers Market is the closest, about a ten minute drive to Bucks Harbor, which also boasts the closest restaurant, Buck 's. If you 've forgotten anything from your grocery shopping at Trade Winds in Blue Hill, The Eggemoggin General Store is handy at just a ten minute drive south on Route 15. They also sell fishing licenses. n nAcadia National Park, Mt. Desert Island and Cadillac Mountain, all popular tourist destinations, are about hour 's drive away. There you can hire bicycles, take whale watching boats, explore coastal villages, or enjoy the many shops and restaurants in town. Ledge Lodge is about 11/2 hours from Bangor/Brewer airport. n nLedge Lodge has a large, well equipped kitchen with electric stove, refrigerator, wood-pellet stove, washing machine, tumble drier, storage space and cupboards. Bathroom has a shower stall, hand basin and w.c. A dining table is situated between the kitchen and living room, which has a sofa bed, two comfy chairs, a TV and dvd player, and a stone fireplace. Off the living room the bedroom has twin beds and a desk, chest of drawers, and bedside tables. Water is supplied by a well on the property. There is a built-in closet off the living room. Description:This is a beautiful post and beam custom built cape with screen porch and deck. This year round home was built in 2002. The house is nicely landscaped. n nMaster bedroom has a king-sized bed. Second bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and third Bed room has a full bed and bunk beds. There are three full baths. n nThere is a finished walk out basement with play area and pullout queen size bed, cable TV and full bathroom. The outdoor shower is great for sand removal after the beach. n nThere is a swimming cove with swim float, association dock with float, and mooring available. Lobstermen can be seen hauling their traps from the porch. The kayak is great for a seals-eye view. n nBoothbay Harbor is a 5 minute drive. There are many restaurants, shops, and galleries. Anything else you may need is close by.
