Great for rusticators, nature lovers, bird watchers, woods and shore ramblers, kayakers, dreamers, writers etc. Cape sits on a sunny hill overlooking acres of blueberry fields and organic gardens. Woodland walking paths lead to private saltwater. Cape has 2 bedrooms and one bath, one bedroom with queen bed and one with a full, both comfy clean and cozy. Nice living room with hardwood floors, bookcases, the kitchen has a gas cooking stove, there is an outside deck and a small enclosed inside porch with an eating area. The yard has a picnic table. There's a washer and dryer. Great area for kayaking or exploring the many paths to the shore. Close (5 minutes) to sandy Pemaquid beach and rocky Pemaquid lighthouse. A great lobster picnic restaurant overlooking spectacular John's Bay and the islands is just down the road. Other restaurants, shops, boating excursions (Monhegan Island Ferry and others) are within a 5 - 10 minutes drive. Non destructive pets are welcome. Abutting the Frye Mountain Game Preserve with easy access to the Sheepscot Watershed Land Alliance's network of trails, our camp manages to feel very far away from everything even though Belfast (a cool, small, not-too-touristy city--home of our restaurant, bakery, and market, Chase's Daily) is only ten miles away. Off-grid, solar-powered, propane fridge, on-demand hot water, wood stove, compost heap out back, herbs to pick from the terraced gardens, fog lingering in the valley come dawn, stars aplenty in the true dark at night, moss and lichen gleaming in the rain, wildflowers brassy in the hot sun. Description:This is a great city vacation destination located in the heart of Portland's Historic West End district. You will be just a minute walk away from great eating...a gourmet deli (Aurora's), great brick oven pizza (Bonobo's) and fantastic European cusine at Caiola's Restaurant. You can enjoy great live music in a small venue just minutes away at One Longfellow Square and then there is the Portland Museum of Art down the street and around the corner. You can also be off on your bike and down the hill to ride the beautiful bike paths along Casco Bay. Visit the historic Old Port District .... you can walk or bike there. It has a wealth of great restaurants, cafes, bars, parks, and of course shopping and If you like fresh seafood you are in the right place to consume your fill of lobster, crabs, clams, shrimp, haddock and of course local oysters! You can go to local cinemas, see independent films, local theater, comedy clubs, chamber and classical music venues and of course the beach for swimming, kayaking, boating...! Truly something for everyone. Your vacation apartment is warm, welcoming and cozy with wide pumpkin pine floors and exposed chimneys. Located in the heart of the West End it is on a quiet dead end street where there is no passing traffic to disturb you. You look out to our courtyard and front garden. The kitchen is fully stocked. We provide teas/coffee/spices as well as all the basics you would need to cook at home. The bedrooms are simple and peaceful w/Queen size beds and duvets of goose down. We have many books for you to browse through and enjoy as well as a Sound System where you can dock your Ipod. Your apartment is located on the second floor and is one of three apartments. Your entry way is completely separate and private. There are two bikes with helmets and lock at your disposal. The airport (Portland International Jetport) is just a ten minute taxi ride away and the bus/train station is down the hill. You can fly into Boston's Logan Airport and take a bus to Portland (they leave every hour). Remember that it would be completely doable to explore Portland by foot and/or bike...there is no need for a car unless you want to further your adventure to the many other interesting places within reasonable driving distance. For example, Freeport, Maine, offers the super bowl of factory store shopping...just a 20 minute ride north. You may be familiar with LL Bean, J Crew, Gap, Northface, Brooks Brothers, Cole Hahn, Reebok, to name only a few... .
