Her private head w/hand-held shower, well-equipped galley w/alcohol stove, chart table & radio station, dvd player & cd/stereo w/sound system add safety & creature comforts. All linens (for head, berths, galley) are provided ~ even beach towels, for brave souls taking a swim in the north Atlantic! She offers ample, comfortably padded cockpit seating w/a handy folding table & cup holders, propane grill, all safety gear/PFDs (sorry ~ no children's sizes ~ BYO), including safety netting around the entire deck. Use the GPS/Nav & auto-pilot systems w/new laminated navigation charts - but no radar. She has a tow-behind, Puffin dinghy ~ a Maine classic, w/oars or motor available ~ suited for 2-4 people to transfer to/from shore. A well-qualified captain & crew may charter alone, at the owners' discretion, or we may provide captain & chef for one couple/small family, if our schedules allow. She has rare, seasonal availability ~ mostly weekdays/nights during June-Sept ~ so book early! There's no better way to explore the stunning islands, harbors, and coves of Maine's coastal/Penobscot Bay region than aboard O'Happy Day! Description:1500 sq ft country charmer on 3 acres. Easy access to Mid-Coast and China Lakes region. Plenty of activities for naturalists, eco-aware outdoor enthusiasts. Depending on when you come you may be lucky enough to harvest any number of fresh vegetables, berries and fruits all growing right outside the front door. Crystal clear spring fed well water is delicious. There is no cable, no DISH, but the antenna receives ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and PBS. Mac based Media Center for the rest of your entertainment needs. There is also an electric powered player piano and dozens of piano rolls to entertain yourselves and your guests. It by no means luxurious, but it is clean, safe ,and RELAXING! No planes, no trains, a very few automobiles. No sirens, no traffic. In a nutshell, nothing you don't want. Full kitchen with plenty of cookware and cupboards full of whole food type staples. General Store is about 7 miles, next nearest store is 9 miles. it is only available for a week every couple of months when I have to travel for work. Description:Enjoy uninterrupted peace and quiet on the Maine coast in this rustic cabin perfect for artists, writers, or anyone else wanting to unplug and unwind for a few days or weeks. This charming cabin, built in 1982, is situated only 50 feet from the water's edge, and, with only one house visible through the woods, it is difficult to find a more private location than this. The cabin is of rustic design, with one private bedroom and single common area that includes a kitchenette, eat-in table, couch, and TV (no cable though). Above the common area is a loft with two twin bed mattresses, accessible by a wooden ladder. Off the common area is an enclosed composting toilet. There is no shower so all washing up must be done in the bath tub. There is no internet or telephone connection. The small wood stove is no longer functional, but three portable electric heaters are kept permanently in the cabin for any chilly Maine nights. Such simple living is certainly not for everyone, but can be a tremendous treat for those interested in enjoying this beautiful natural setting. The cabin looks over a salt river (Back River) which is part of the ocean but looks more like a river/lake due to the protection of Barter's Island across the water. The cove that the cabin sits on is tidal, which means that half the time you are looking at the ocean and half the time it is a natural mud flat. So the view changes every 6 hours! To enjoy the water to its fullest when the tide is up, a double kayak may be rented from the property owners at a very reasonable rate. The cabin is located 5 minutes drive from lovely Boothbay Harbor, a stunning destination for travelers of all kinds. Enjoy fine local seafood, kayaking, whale watching, sunset sailing trips, and the charming downtown with its quaint shops. There are also many beautiful walking trails through the Boothbay Region Land Trust, along with one of the world's finest botanical gardens at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, located only 2 miles from the cabin.
