Nearby are Mesa Verde National Park, the Durango-Silverton narrow gauge railroad, three ski areas (Durango Mountain Resort, Silverton Mountain, and Wolf Creek Ski Area), and natural healing hot spring spas. n nBuilt in 1995-1996, the Lodge itself is a magnificent 6,500 square foot custom log home with expansive wrap-around decks offering views of the majestic La Plata Mountains, the Florida Mesa, and abundant wildlife. Open floor plans, cathedral ceilings, and soaring windows provide views of deer, elk, and wild turkey seen almost daily year-round. Inside the Lodge, seven bedrooms will easily accommodate 20 guests with room for more upon request. n nThe main floor has two full-size sofas as well as additional seating for comfortable relaxation and is situated around a floor to ceiling woodburning river rock fireplace with a large screen satellite television and DVD/VCR. Several entryways provide access to covered decks with panoramic views. Private bedrooms include shared full baths and another half bath with shower just around the corner. The dining area and kitchen on the main floor feature a teak dining table easily seating ten people with additional leaves for expansion. A massive elk antler chandelier adorns the area. n nCustom kitchen and center island features solid granite countertops, a six burner gas range, double ovens, and most everything else even the most discerning gourmet cook will appreciate. The center island provides casual seating. The mudroom offers a full-size washer and dryer, an additional refrigerator, and a large open pantry. n nThe lower living area also has a full-size sofa and chair seating around a second river rock fireplace and satellite television with a DVD/VCR. It hosts four private bedrooms including a kids dorm room with a bassinet and one shared full bath. Two entryways provide access to covered patios. n nTake the log staircase to the upper level and you 'll find the master suite complete with a rustic aspen log frame king-size bed and two private decks with views that will take your breath away. The master bath has a Jacuzzi tub, separate shower, and double vanity. A spacious walk-in closet that includes an extra sleeping area with a futon and ping pong table is steps away with a secluded place to just be alone with your thoughts and relax. n nAccommodations total two king-size beds, two queen-size beds, one full-size bed, four twin beds, one bunk bed, and two futon sleepers. Radiant in-floor heating is accented by oak hardwoods, carpet, slate, and saltillo tile. n nIn conjunction with the Lodge for larger parties, the 800 sf guesthouse will sleep 4 comfortably. Description:A wonderful vacation awaits you at The Pinecone, our private condo at Tamarron in the San Juan National Forest. Minutes from the DMR ski area, this open and bright 1400 sq ft condo has two levels. Downstairs is a private queen bedroom and an attached bathroom, the living room, dining area and full kitchen. Upstairs is a large loft with two queen beds and bathroom w/extra vanity. The loft closes off with sound insulated folding doors for privacy at night. There are air mattresses for extra guests, and a TV/DVD on each level. n nPut your feet up and relax on the lodge-style furnishings. The beds have memory foam toppers for extra comfort. Our unit has extra south facing windows for lots of natural light and 20 foot high ceilings. We do not have any highway noise like some units. The private deck is surrounded by pine trees with peek-a-boo views of the mountains and a small pond. n nA heated indoor/outdoor pool, jacuzzi's, fitness center, sauna and spa services are available in the main lodge for a daily fee which we pay, a 3 minute walk from our unit. n nCatch the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Train just 1/4 mile away at the Rockwood Station. A soak in Trimble Hot Springs is just 10 minutes towards town. There are so many things to do in Durango! Tubing or rafting down the Animas River, an indoor splash/water park, hiking, biking, horseback riding, Jeep adventures, art galleries and many fabulous restaurants.
