Painstakingly restored over five years, the villa provides Grand Tour style accommodation with individually designed rooms full of antique furniture and fittings, each with their own private bathroom. nThe living area includes a homely, fully equipped kitchen with 6-ring/dual oven cooker and a working, open fireplace - great for steak and chestnuts! Next door is a second kitchen/preparation room, and on the other side a large pantry. The dining room can comfortably seat sixteen people (more 'Italian style'), and there is a stylish sitting room with open fire, a TV room with Sky and WiFi, and a large Gran Salone (main reception) which can be used for all sorts of activities - also with its own home cinema. nOutside, there is an original 17th Century formal garden with herbs and fountain, a private olive grove for relaxing and taking in the wooded valley behind the house, and a swimming pool.( Please not that we are currently finishing the surround of the pool ( due to open in the middle of May) and are without photos but do contact us for further details. Description:This estate stretches out over a hillside covered with vineyards, olive trees and woodland. It is set in the very heart of Chianti near the main road from Florence to Siena, only 16 km south of Florence. The lovely estate on the western fringe of Chianti is owned by one of Italy 's oldest families, descendants of both a saint and Pope Clement XII (who commissioned the Trevi Fountain in Rome). At one time the property owner could ride all the way from this estate to their palace in Rome without ever leaving their own land. Despite its august background, this property is a refreshingly friendly and relaxed estate: The Renaissance Villa (see picture below), one of the finest in Tuscany, stands on the highest hill in the very centre of the estate. The Italian garden overlooking the Pesa Valley and the vast fourteenth century wine cellars and oil jar-storage, built into the embankment in the garden, complete the picturesque scenario. A wine restaurant on the estate is open for lunch from Monday to Sunday. nThe estate has two farmhouse holiday structures: La Scala offered here, a small and simple apartment for 4 people located in a large farm building with use of the large pool of the Renaissance Villa and La Corte, a detached farmhouse with its own swimming pool (also featured in our portfolio). The two structures are at a distance of approx. 300 metres from each other. nHaving entered the hudge estate, and having passed the wine cellars, an unpaved road of approx. 200 m leads to the large farm building: La Scala is located at the corner of the house, while the rest of the house is inhabited throughout the year by long-term tenants. In front of the apartment there is a beautiful fenced 300 sqm garden equipped for meals al fresco. The guests of La Scala are welcome to use the very large pool of the Renaissance villa. The pool is shared with the owners of the villa. Be assured that the pool will never be crowded. Flowers, bushes and a vegetable garden line the path to the elegant pool, which is approx. 250 m from the apartment. You will find sunloungers at the pool area and your private gazebo as well. The pool is spectacularly located on a plateau of English lawn and sits above the valley. Even when swimming in the pool you can savour the enchanting view of one of the most beautiful Chianti valleys. The panoramic view from here is magnificent. And to add to your pleasure, the pool is romantically lit in the evening. nThe farmhouse is just outside of the village, approx. 1.3 km distant. You could even walk there! San Casciano offers a good choice of excellent restaurants, a gelateria, several Cappuccino bars, all kind of grocery shops, a cinema, a bank, a post office and a beautiful local market every Monday morning. In the house you will find a list of recommended restaurants and information about the region. If you travel during the colder months you will enjoy the heated public indoor pool of San Casciano which is only 800 metres from the property. The apartment 's location only 1.5 km from the next bus stop is a good base to visit Florence even without a car. During the week buses go regularly to Florence (approx. every 1.5 hours). In Florence the bus will take you to the main train station which is right in the centre of Florence - it is just a short walk from the station Santa Maria Novella to the Cathedral or the Uffizi. nLa Scala is suitable for anyone interested in the inner workings of an olive-oil- and wine-producing estate. The extensive vine and olive cultivations stretch as far as the eye can see. A selection of the best vintages is stored in the winery cellars in large kegs, and the olive oil is delcious. Since 1993 the estate has been hosting two major international events: a flower and garden festival that usually held during the third week in September in the elegant garden of the villa and a vine exposition that takes place during the first weekend in May. Description:The La Corte estate stretches out over a hillside covered with vineyards, olive trees and woodland. It is set in the very heart of Chianti near the main road from Florence to Siena, only 16 km south of Florence. This lovely estate on the western fringe of Chianti is owned by one of Italy 's oldest families, descendants of both a saint and Pope Clement XII (who commissioned the Trevi Fountain in Rome). At one time the property owner could ride all the way from this estate to their palace in Rome without ever leaving their own land. Despite its august background, this property is a refreshingly friendly and relaxed estate: The Renaissance Villa (no picture here), one of the finest in Tuscany, stands on the highest hill in the very centre of the estate. The Italian garden overlooking the Pesa Valley and the vast fourteenth century wine cellars and oil jar-storage, built into the embankment in the garden, complete the picturesque scenario. nHaving entered the hudge estate, a private access road of approx. 200 m leads to the La Corte farmhouse. La Corte stands by its own. The house has a total 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, therefore a total of 16 people can be accommodated. If your group is smaller than 16 people you can benefit from the advantage of a price reduction for groups up to 12 or 14 people. To assure your privacy the unused rooms will be closed. The house was completely restored and modern amenities were installed while retaining the original architectural structure and characteristic farmhouse features. The interior is still farm style. Some rooms have antique terracotta tiled floors, others have wooden floors. The brick roof rests on mighty oak beams. Just outside the dining room there is a terrace for al fresco dining equipped with table chairs and a large garden parasol. A lawn leads to the pool. From the swimming pool, the garden fades naturally into the surrounding olive groves. nThe house has views over the gently rolling hills, olive growes, vineyards and the village of San Casciano. It is just outside of the village, approx. 1.5 km distant. You could even walk there! San Casciano offers a good choice of excellent restaurants, a geleteria, several Cappuccino bars, all kind of grocery shops, a cinema, a bank, a post office and a beautiful local market every Monday morning. In the house you will find a list of recommended restaurants and information about the region. If you travel during the colder months you will enjoy the heated public indoor pool of San Casciano which is only 500 metres from the property. The villa 's location only 1.5 km from the next bus stop is a good base to visit Florence even without a car. During the week buses go regularly to Florence (approx. every 1.5 hours). In Florence the bus will take you to the main train station which is right in the centre of Florence - it is just a short walk from the station Santa Maria Novella to the Cathedral or the Uffizi. nLa Corte is suitable for anyone interested in the inner workings of an olive-oil- and wine-producing estate. The extensive vine and olive cultivations stretch as far as the eye can see. A selection of the best vintages is stored in the winery cellars in large kegs, and the olive oil is delcious. Since 1993 the estate has been hosting two major international events: a flower and garden festival that usually held during the third week in September in the elegant garden of the villa and a vine exposition that takes place during the first weekend in May. Extreme care has been taken to retain the authentic atmosphere- the roof and floor tiles are centuries old, the plaster made with limestone and terracotta as the Romans used to do and the paint on the walls derived from different local earth for example. All the roof tiles and floors are centuries old, original or locally found and selected with great care. This extensive revival has in fact led to the Ministry of Fine Arts has declaring the property a residence of ?historic interest?. Interior This villa is vast at 2700sqm total and affords 9 rooms and 8 suites. The rooms are designed to accommodate from 1-4 guests, with a maximum capacity of 50 guests. All the rooms have lovely views over the courtyard, olive groves and terraced vegetable garden which is surrounded by hand-carved stone walls.
