Description:Casa Ilci is a large portion of a substantial and imposing 19th century stone country house. It comfortably sleeps 8 and is located just a 10 minutes drive from beautiful, medieval Todi, in the Umbrian countryside surrounded by fields of sunflowers, olives, and vineyards. The house lies over 3 floors, with an expansive, picturesque garden, overlooked by a large covered terrace with an outdoor table and seating for 8, where you can relax and enjoy the incredible sunsets whilst sipping a glass of wine and reflecting on the day's activities. Casa Ilci provides the perfect location to explore the many ancient hill towns of Umbria and Southern Tuscany. ACCOMMODATION Spacious and luminous accommodation spread over 3 floors. The ground floor consists of the main entrance and a door on the left opens to reveal a self-contained apartment that includes a large double bedroom, bathroom with shower aswell as a large kitchen and salon, that includes sink and hob, fridge/freezer and washing machine, table and chairs for dining, and sofa with TV and feature fireplace. Particularly beautiful double french doors open out onto the patio and garden. From the main entrance steps lead up to the main floor which comprises two rooms. To the left, a light and airy lounge with 2 sofas, flat screen tv, DVD player, and iPod sound system. Next door, the kitchen and dining room is full of character and comprises cooker, fridge/freezer, and two separate sink areas. Both kitchens (apartment and main house) include a toaster, kettle and microwave. The dining room has a large feature brick and beamed fireplace, dining table and chairs, and beautiful display cabinet. French doors from the dining room lead directly onto the large terrace complete with terrace furniture. Access via wide steps from the terrace leads to the garden. The second floor consists of two beautifully furnished double bedrooms with each having two shuttered windows and mirrored wardrobes. One of the double bedrooms includes a further single bed, ideal for small children. There is a further bedroom with single bed and open shelf storage. A travel cot can also be provided at no extra charge. The bathroom on this floor includes a bath with shower attachment, bidet, washbasin, and toilet. DISTANCES Casa Ilci provides a fantastic base from which to discover not-to-be-missed places such as Asissi, Spoleto, Spello, Orvieto, and Perugia – all within 45 minutes drive. The wonderful wine areas surrounding Montefalco, Lake Trasimeno, and Cortona are under 1 hours drive. Located near the E-45 Superstrada (close to all Umbrian destinations) and the A-1 Autostrada del Sole to Rome (1.5 hours) and Florence (2 hours ), make Casa Ilci the perfect location to explore central Italy and all its rich cultural heritage. Description:This apartment is included in a 3-story Roman and Medieval house that hosts only 2 apartments in total and which is set back from the street in a small nice courtyard, a five-minute walk to Todi’s main square, with its 12th century cathedral, town hall, clustering of outdoor cafes and frequent cultural events. Our house was once the rectory and is connected to the lovely old church, which occasionally offers mass on Sunday mornings. Nearby Todi is a charming and historic medieval town with great history, architecture, art, restaurants and shopping. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking. The general area is known not only for its art and architecture, but also for its wine and cuisine, ceramics production, hiking/biking trails, music festivals, and friendly locals. The house is divided into two apartments which can be rented separately or together. Both apartments have exposed stone walls, cotto tile floors, and ancient ceiling beams. Casa Antonia was lovingly restored with authentic materials that reflect the typical Umbrian style. Everything apart from the house itself (which is 500 years old) is new. Each apartment is centrally heated and has a fireplace, satellite TV, DVD player, and stereo. Both apartments are tastefully furnished in a style that is a mix of contemporary and traditional Italian. The carpets are Persian and Oriental. The views from this, the large apartment, are mostly of the castle and a bit of the countryside beyond Montenero. It sleeps six. The master bedroom has a queen size bed the second bedroom, which is small, has an Italian day bed with trundle and a lovely wardrobe. There is one bathroom with a shower and bidet. The living room has a full size sleeper sofa and a skylight. The kitchen is fully equipped. On the ground floor there is a laundry room with washer and dryer, ironing board, and iron. There is also a studio space available on this level. We are in easy driving distance to trains (Terni or Orvieto), as well as to many interesting and important Umbrian and Tuscan destinations: Assisi, Orvieto, Spoleto, and Perugia (home of the Umbria Jazz Festival)--45 min. to 1 hr. It is formed from the bases of three mediaeval towers whose upper stories were demolished in the Renaissance by order of the Pope. It has one Roman room, one room dating from the eleven hundreds, a thirteenth century dining hall and a series of fifteenth century rooms. It is a beautiful three bedroom, three bathroom apartment, sleeping 5/6, within the Roman walls of the mediaeval city of Todi. It has a lovely private courtyard with Travertine marble floor that leads on to a charming walled garden, full of English roses, wisteria and lavender. n nThe front door opens on the vaulted 13th century dining hall that leads through to the private courtyard. Description:Around 1200 AD the district around Todi and Orvieto was subject to much contention and turbulence. Numerous castles bear witness to the need for defence and protection of assets. One such was the Tower of Orlando, near Baschi. Originating around 1250, it is now one of the most beautiful and best conserved private castles in Umbria. Carefully restructured, this impressive castle is a high quality home to its Roman owner, who is occasionally in residence in a completely separate part of the castle. As befitting a castle, the architects have maintained the harsh, original, stone structure, and have made sensitive use of stone, iron and wood to create a blend of comfortable contemporary details with the existing historic structure. The upper floors and tower have wide metal railings easy for a child to slip through. nOn the ground floor there is a long furnished pergola enjoying panoramic views, which has direct access to the spacious drawing room with a fireplace and the dining room for 14.
