Description:Consider our guest room as a chic, unique, and affordable alternative to hotels and guesthouses in Reykjavík! We live in the penthouse apartment of a four storey building on a main street in downtown Reykjavík. The apartment is quite unique yet contemporary in design. Flanked by north, west, and south facing windows, the apartment offers incredible views of the city, Faxaflói Bay, and Mount Esja. Our fifth floor, also known as “the lighthouse,” provides a 360 degree panoramic view of the city. From this vantage point, you can see all of Reykjanes Peninsula and its stunning volcano Keilir to the southwest, Snæfellsnes peninsula crowned by the famous glacier covered volcano Snæfellsjökull to the north west, Mount Esja to the north, and Reykjavík's popular hotspots Harpa (the new opera building), City Hall on picturesque Tjörnin (the pond), and Hallgrímskirkja (the church). We are renting one guest room to short stay visitors. Guests staying with us have access to our huge kitchen (all appliances available) and our spacious bathroom (with shower and bath with jacuzzi jets). Other amenities include wireless Internet access and washing machine use if needed. Due to the walk up staircase, the apartment is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. You cannot find a more central location than ours. We are 30 seconds from the main street Laugarvegur (filled with cafés, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops), two minutes from Hallgrímskirkja, and within a five minute walk from Harpa, the National Theatre, The National Art Gallery (Listasafn Íslands), and other cultural meccas. The apartment is shared by a couple and their friend. Collectively, we have ample experience travelling in Iceland and assisting with itinerary creation, so if our visitors are keen for advice on what to see or where to go, we would be happy to help. Recently, Canada's national newspaper The Globe and Mail asked Angela's exclusive assistance in recommending travel destinations within Reykjavík. Beautiful wooden floor, beam ceilings and recovered brick. A ceiling fan helps to keep the room airy as do the many windows. The kitchen is modern and fully equiped. The bedroom has a double bed, a wardrobe and 1 of the 3 balconies. The double sofa bed in the living room makes it able to acomodate 4 people. All the blankets and bed linens are provided. The bathroom is modern and has a shower, wooden shelving for holding extra supplies for this room and a vanity top with mirror and hair dryer. This apartment is not pet friendly and it does allow smoking. There is WiFi available (3G USB modem 7.2 Mbps prepaid, for 1'30 euros per day).
