Description:Gili Meno, the middle island, the smallest of the three Gili's and it is the quietest with fewer tourists. A great escape for someone who wants to get away from it all. Special features of the island is the salt lake and spectacular dive sites such as, Meno Wall, Sea Turtle Point, and Blue Coral Point. The beach on eastern part of the island is very nice and there's snorkeling just offshore and further north. Gili Meno has a population of about 300 locals. The interior of the island is mostly a palm trees surrounded by grass which is kept neat by cows munching lazily in the shade. There are no cars or motorbikes on the island, all transport is by horse drawn carts or on foot. The diving was pretty good, with quite a strong current but that incredible swimming pool visibility that you get on good days off the islands in SE Asia. The relaxed pace of life and the community feeling on the island is really special. In Gili Meno, where fresh water is shipped from Lombok, eco friendly practices are not an option. It is a necessity. DIVE SITES ON GILI ISLANDS, LOMBOK INDONESIA There are over 3,500 marine species living in the reefs and seas of Indonesia. In comparison to the Great Barrier Reef (1,500 species) and Red Sea (600 species), 25 % of all reefs in the world are in Indonesia. The drop offs, plateaus and slopes of the Gili's reflect a good cross section of what Indonesia has to offer. Dive in and be fascinated by turtles, White tip Reef Sharks, Cuttlefish, Moray Eels, Angel Fish, Ghost Pipefish and more. Around the three Gili Island in the north west of Lombok (Gili Air, Gili Meno, Gili Trawangan), are more then 15 different dive spots and there are new reefs being explored all the time. Shark Point & Volkers' Golf Course Shark Point, to the east of Gili Trawangan, is a popular dive spot in the mornings. This dive site consists of different levels (24m, 20m, 18m). It starts with a slope of hard and soft corals, the native territory of Green and Hawksbill Turtles. The different levels are sandy areas with small coral locks the variety of underwater life is large, starting with schools of Trevally Napoleon Fish to White tip Reef Sharks and Rays in the sandy areas, ending up with Ribbon Eels, Leaf Fish and even Mantas. Volkers' Golf Course is about 500 m east of Shark Point and starts at a depth of about 20m. It looks green like a golf course and is the best site to see Sharks, Schools of Mackerel and Doctor Fish. Because of its depth and the sometimes very strong currents, it is a dive for advanced divers. Meno Wall Meno wall, off the west coast of Gili Meno, goes down to depths of 18m. It offers a lot of small coral fish like Lionfish, Soldier Fish, Gobies, crabs, as well as Wart Slugs and Nudibranches coming out of hiding. It is also called Turtle Heaven because of the many resident Hawksbill and Green Turtles. Air Wall Air Wall, to the west of Gili Air, is a very beautiful wall that, due to the soft coral cover, shines yellow orange depending on the position of the sun. The highlight of this wall is a coral block at 22m in which Leaf Fish (Scorpion Fish) make their home, surrounded by shrimps, Pipe Fish, White banded Cleaner Shrimps and thousands of Glass Fish. Look into the deeper parts for White tip Reef Sharks. Coral Fan Garden & Basket Coral Garden Also popular for morning dives are the two dive spots in the north of Gili Trawangan: Coral Fun Garden and Basket Coral Garden. In the first few metres you have the feeling of being in an aquarium schools of colored Fairy Basslets, Fusiliers, Banner Fish live here. Deeper, around the big coral and stone blocks, Groupers, Batfish, Trumpet Fish, hiding Octopus and Bearded Scorpion Fish. Look out to the blue: sometimes Eagle Rays, Mantas or Reef Sharks can be seen. Manta Point In the rainy season, when the water is rich with plankton, this dive site in the south of Gili Trawangan gives you the best chance to see Manta Rays. Description:Rent my beautiful guest bedroom! I have a very large (1200 sq. ft.), 2.5 bedroom, nicely decorated apartment in a fabulous, quiet, safe neighborhood in the center of LA, and am renting out the large guest bedroom on a nightly, weekly, or month to month basis short term only. This isn't some crappy box like apartment with just a futon in the corner, in a bad part of town. This is one of the nicest parts of town and is a huge, beautiful residence with all the amenities and wonderful tenants all of that is not necessarily the easiest to find in this city. If you don't know the area, location is ideal. It's very centrally located. Everything (beach, valley, airport, east side) is about 20 25 minutes by car, and if you don't have a car, every kind of business you might need to visit in LA is within walking distance (2 6 blocks, at most): The Grove Mall Melrose Ave. Cool clothes shopping (the Grove Mall, Melrose Ave.) Park (across street has playground, basketball courts, and running area, lit @ night, too) Grocery Stores (Health food store/deli, Whole Foods, CVS pharmacy, Super K Mart, 7 11) Coffee shop with free wireless Restaurants/Bars: Italian, Pan Asian, Spanish tapas, Thai take out, healthy lunch/breakfast place. My street is smack dab in the center of what's considered LA's alternative restaurant row. Post office (across street) Fairfax District (Jewish neighborhood, temples, kosher stores & restaurants) Library Bank Bus stop (in case you don't have a car) Although the apartment is very close to businesses, the actual street where residence is located is an ultra quiet, tree lined, neighborhoody street with permit parking for residents (and guests i.e., you) only. Building is a 1920's Spanish colonial quad plex with friendly, quiet neighbors. Apartment (including bedroom for rent) is fully furnished and has been called very warm and cozy by visitors, despite the large rooms (see pics which, because rooms are so large, generally only show half the room). Place is light and airy, with 14' beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, archway, (non working) fireplace. Front wall overlooking street is all french door windows. Electric and plumbing have been redone. Great water pressure. Wonderful vibe. I have wireless, laundry, and both a tub and shower (picture below only shows tub side). Bedroom for rent has super comfy king sized bed, lounger chair, clock/radio, flat screen TV with DVD/VCR, 2 dressers, a desk, closet, and plenty of shelving, storage, and light. I do still live here (i.e., I would still be here while you were here), but I try to be as unobtrusive as possible during your stay, and would want any short term tenant to feel comfortable enough to come and go as they please, and make this a home away from home while here, we are quite a family in the building here. I would only ask the following: Non smoker preferred, but if you must smoke, please do so outside No pets (I sometimes dogsit to help friends out, but that's usually brief and temporary.) Be respectful (to home, to stuff, to other building residents, including myself) Pay when move in, and add a $100 security deposit to amount owed, if you leave everything as you found it, deposit will be returned to you. To clarify again, you would only be renting the master bedroom as your space alone, the common areas (kitchen, laundry, living room, dining room, hallway, bathroom) would still be shared with me. It is located in a great development with a large swimming pool and children's playground, only five minutes walk to the beach and the lovely bay of Sao Martinho. This brand new two bedroom apartment is in one of the recently built developments in the popular beach town of Sao Martinho. The development and apartment are conveniently located very close to all amenities including the bus stop from Lisbon, the beach, restaurants and cafe's. You will find a number of activities within the Silver Coast of Portugal including golf, horse riding, water sports, fishing and much more. tours can be arranged such as wine tours and historical tours. ten minutes away is the spectacular beach and Lagoon of Foz Do Arelho, here you will find white sandy beaches and non motorized water sport centre offering catamarans, canoe´s windsurfing, kite surfing and much more. One can have a lesson in English or just simply hire the equipment and go alone. It is a lovely place to sit and relax in the bar/restaurant.
