A room with a shower only you will be using is right outside your door. There are a laundry room, common kitchen and gymn in the building. Quarry street borders on the lively Collegetown neighbourhood but since it is on the other side of State Street you can sleep and study in peace. Its on the 30 &70 bus route wich take you to Cornell or wherever you need to go every 15 minutes. But you can also walk up to Campus or down to the Commons in 10-15 minutes. This place is perfect if you are spending your summer in Ithaca, maybe for Summer Programs at Cornell. You will have your own little home. My overall experience was pretty positive and I would recommend it. New John´s place is as described, a huge and quiet loft that he built. The neighborhood is residential and quiet, there is a bus about 2 blocks away from the house. The trip to the nearest subway is 20 minutes and the trip to Manhattan is about 40 minutes.
