Description:Smoke free, pet free, 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo with a sofa bed. Cork floors and very little upholstery make this a great place for those concerned with allergies. We are on the third floor but the entrance from the parking lot is on the second floor of the building, so there are only 14 steps to climb. There are real beds ready for 4, a sofa bed that sleeps 2 more, and we can add mattresses to sleep another 3 people. **For Derby weekend the cancellation policy will be the Super Strict Policy** We have a working farm 40 miles away where we spend our weekends, so you can stay in the condo by yourself and still have us available nearby if you need anything. If you'd like we'll leave a pot of home made chili on the stove so you can have a meal ready at your arrival (made with the free-range, antibiotic-steroid-hormone-free pork we raise 40 miles away). We will also provide Costa Rican coffee (from our own, personally imported stash), tea, milk, soy milk, fruit, whole wheat bread, PB, honey and jellies for your breakfast. Pick up from airport and rides to events (including Derby) for up to 4 people can be arranged for an extra fee. The city bus (TARC) also goes by us, line #15. 20 minutes from Churchill Downs, 10 minutes from the KFC YUM center, 4th Street Live and all the activities found in downtown Louisville. Walking distance from the Veterans' Hospital, Mockingbird Valley Indoor Soccer Club, Louisville Water Tower and the Ohio River. Nearby attractions: Mellwood Arts Center, MOM's Music, Water Tower Museum, Thomas Edison House, Locust Grove Historic Home, Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Carrie Gaulbert Cox Park and boat ramp, King Fish Restaurant (river front), and all the stores and restaurants of Frankfort Road. Commerce within one mile: Kroger (grocery), CVS Pharmacy, PNC Bank, dry cleaners, restaurants (fast food and casual dining), liquor stores, coffee shops and more. Description:Imagine a gorgeous ride in the country... Just far enough so you're away from the traffic jams, the big box stores,and from the houses on top of one another. As you leave the highway, the temperature drops a few degrees as the trees shade the curvy roads. The radio station fades as you lose civilization. You might as well turn it off and listen to the birds and the trees. Turn left at the ponies and sheep. The Gotland Ponies and Lincoln Longwool sheep, respectively, graze over 150 acres of Kentucky rolling hills and forest. Unspoiled. Organic. Natural. It's a family farm where we raise rare breeds of livestock: Nothing fancy, just “working stock.” The ponies ride and drive (and oh yes, they're available for driving lessons – singles or pairs!). The herd began here as just seven, and has now grown to become the largest herd in North America. They're gorgeous, just out grazing and meandering around with the sheep. The Lincoln Longwools are amazing. They grow an inch of wool a month. Handspinners love their wool. It's long, lustrous and sturdy. (And we can teach you to spin it, too!) In the barnyard, several breeds of heritage chickens scurry about. They provide fresh eggs and timely wake-up calls. Please join us for a great getaway. It's not your typical hotel. The sheets are dried on the line in the fresh air, and much of the food comes from the farm. The dishes might not match. But the beds are comfy, the kitchen is stocked, and there's a bottle of bourbon with your name on it on the counter! You are, after all, in Kentucky. Once you cross the bridge over the creek, you'll be greeted by the pups -- Reba, the huge white Great Pyrenees, who protects the sheep, and Truman, the happy Australian Shepherd, who we hope will one day learn to herd them. The Carriage House is next to the house, and the suite is upstairs. On the right is the bedroom, with queen bed, full futon (couch or bed), dresser and a reading chair. The window overlooks the vegetable garden and the upper barn pasture, where you'll usually find horses frolicking. On the left is the kitchen/​living room, with sofa, twin futon, table and chairs, refrigerator, sink and microwave. It'll be stocked with fresh fruit, coffee and tea, and staples you might need if you choose to cook while you're here (like flour, sugar, oatmeal, cereal, and those fabulous eggs!). The bathroom is small -- just a shower, sink and toilet. No frills, but everything you need! What to do? While you're here, you're welcome to hike around the 150 acres we call home. There's about 60 wooded acres you can wend your way through, or you can walk the rural roads. If weather permits, you can arrange a driving lesson with the local pony residents (single or pair), or learn to spin some of that gorgeous Lincoln wool into yarn. That's about it... there is a DVD player if you'd like to watch a movie (and we just got Wireless internet!), but be prepared for no TV, and your cell phone probably won't work here either. You are welcome to use the house phone if you need to be in touch with civilization. We do stock a supply of books, magazines and movies. Location: Kokovoko is halfway between Lexington and Cincinnati (about 35 miles from either), 20 miles from Georgetown, 15 miles from Cynthiana, and 5 miles from Corinth. I suggest you follow my directions rather than the ones to be found on the internet. It seems they've never been here! And of course you're just a half hour from the Kentucky Horse Park. Remember, if you choose to stay a few days, the kitchen is there to cook meals. The fridge is small, but has a freezer, so you can bring food with you and cook here if you like. Description:We are offering a pet free, smoke free home large enough for 18 overnight guests. Come in groups of 8 or more for the entire house or come for a room only during a special event or vacation. This home overlooks rolling hills with a wonderful view. In the summer you can enjoy the twittering of the hummingbirds that visit. You may also enjoy fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden for guests(when in season). This home is for women only. Accomodations include 18 individual beds (broken down into individual rooms of Room 1 - 4 beds, Room 2 - 3 beds, Room 3 -5 beds, Room 4 - 2 beds and Room 5 with 4 beds) with fresh linens and handmade quilts, dining area, large kitchen with all of the ammenities in order to cook your own meals, and a large workroom that will enable womens groups to work on projects. We have hosted many scrapbook, quilt and bible study groups, groups of all kinds. The rates of $45 per night is group rate with rental of entire house.
