Close to coffee shops, restaurants and pubs, Cherokee Park and downtown Louisville. This home was built in the 1880s for a steamboat captain on the Ohio River. Floors in the separate apartment are made of heart of pine. Exposed brick chimneys, air conditioning, full-size refrigerator and microwave. Guests must be able to navigate multiple flights of stairs to reach third floor. Some of these stairs are a bit steep, but once you reach the top you are truly in the trees. The Highlands is a great place to visit for a day or a week. It is full of coffeeshops, art galleries, locally owned restaurants and bars. It has 1 bedrm with private bath that sleeps 2 on the downstairs with a great room kitchen & sitting room. It has 2 bedrms upstairs that sleep 2 each with a shared bath, great room & kitchen. All mattresses are new. We offer a free continental breakfast. We are right in the heart of Cave Country, 1 hour from Louisville International airport and the Kentucky Derby, Many interesting tourist things to do for those who want to be going and for those who just want a stress free relaxing vacation then this is the place. The hosts offer 22 art and stained glass workshops in Avalon Stained Glass School & Creativity Center which is on the same property for those who want a learning vacation either for 3 hours or longer. Though we love pets we do not accommodate pets. There are ceiling fans in each room. Description:Located in the heart of downtown Lexington, this apartment is in walking distance to the University of Kentucky campus, Rupp Arena, the campus of Transylvania University, a variety of restaurants and bars, and Lexington's beautiful historic downtown. Keeneland is a 20 minute drive. The apartment is simple, yet comfortable, with one bedroom, a sitting room/kitchen area, and an additional room that is currently being used as an office. There is a double bed in the bedroom, as well as a futon in the sitting area. The kitchen is fully-furnished, and you are welcome to use it as your own during your stay. There is a tv with dvd player, but no cable. There is wireless internet. Guests have access to the entire apartment, which is on the third floor of a small apartment building. The apartment is simple and comfortable, and perfect for people who like being a walk or bike ride away from the main attractions of the city. Parking is available on the street, although you won't need your car much if you stay here! The apartment gets great light, especially in the late afternoon, and is close to some of the best restaurants and bars in Lexington. There is also a neighborhood grocery store that is about fifty feet from the door, and the Farmer's Market is a 5 minute walk on Saturdays. Amenities within walking distance include: Stella's Kentucky Deli - Traditional southern food made using local ingredients The Grey Goose - Gourmet pizzas and the best patio in town. Sidebar - Great bar with cheap drinks and affordable pub food Kentucky Theater - Independent movie theater .
