Description:We're looking to share our home with fellow travelers while we're away. It's an adorable little home, quite close to downtown Portland. It was built in the 1920's as a Multnomah Village vacation cottage for wealthy Portlander's, but what was far away in those days is now super close to downtown! 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, about 1200 sq feet. The master bedroom and the living room are very large. We have a decent sized kitchen with all the amenities, except for a dishwasher, but it's never been a problem to wash our own dishes. The master bedroom has a King size bed. Our 2nd bedroom has been turned into an office, but there is a pull out full size futon allowing for extra sleeping space. We also have a large sectional couch that can sleep two more people, and a inflatable queen air mattress if necessary. I think the house can comfortably sleep 4 people, space for 8 can be made, but it's such a small little cottage that I don't think it would be very comfortable.The house has an enclosed front porch/sunroom/mudroom for extra space. The property also has a wonderful yard and patio with large organic flower and vegetable gardens. My husband and I have spent a lot of time fixing up the cottage and making it like home, we've painted, put in new Ikea floors, furnished it with a great mix of vintage and modern furniture. The living room is large, with a big, plush sectional. We have a flatscreen, HD Television, with Direct TV, HBO, showtime and all the other awesome extras. Wireless internet as well. There is a bus stop in front of the house which take you directly into the city center in 10 minutes. Portland has an excellent, easy to use public transportation system. Unless our guests are comfortable depending on this public transportation, it is recommended that they have a car because we are on the outskirts of the city in the suburbs and the walk-ability is very low. Our house is on a quiet gravel street, with little to no traffic, but it does sit very close to a major interstate, which can be seen from the front yard. This really doesn't matter, as the sound is like a dull hum in the background and it leads to a private little neighborhood, but I thought it worth mentioning. We do have pets, 2 dogs and 2 cats. We will of course take the dogs with us and the cats can either stay if our renter doesn't mind( we're willing to greatly reduce the cleaning fee if our guest doesn't mind some fun cats around), or go to their grandma's. Finally, I have to stress a couple of important points. 1) This is our home, we live here, so unless you book the house for a long term sublet, all of our stuff will be here. Of course the house will be neat and tidy, but our clothes will be hanging in the closet, our food will be in the fridge, ect... 2) The house is old and funky. There isn't a straight line in the walls, the floors are crooked, not all of the windows open and we often blow fuses. But, the house is adorable and is overflowing with character. Just be prepared to live in an old house and understand the quirks that come with it. 3) the house is available for long weekends because we do work during the week.
