The log portion of the home was built in the 1850’s and even has a display of the original mortar used in the building of the cabin. The rock kitchen and bedroom were added at later dates. Your hosts added the bathroom. Although the log cabin was home to early settlers, the past 50 plus years it has been used as a working barn. Your hosts and their family worked for three years to make the guest house the special place it is today. n n n r n tThe long front rock porch is typical of the 1800s and leads into the log cabin. Comfort is found in the log cabin with it antique couch and chair placed to enjoy the TV/VCR. Many replicas found on the property and in the walls of the house are now displayed in shadow boxes and other locations in the cabin. n n n r n tIn the bedroom is a dresser and bed was handcrafted in Germany. Topped with a quilt, the bed sits fashionably high off the floor. An armoire for hanging clothes is an old family heirloom. Adjacent to the bedroom is the bath where you can enjoy a luxurious bath in the large whirlpool tub. The kitchen has an antique wood burning stove which has been converted to electric having 2 burners (no oven). A small refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffeemaker are also provided. Description:We're renting the couch in our spacious living room to folks needing a place to stay while visiting Austin. My roommate and I have hosted couch surfers and always enjoyed the experience. We're laid back and have between us ten years in Austin, so we can share with you all the inside secrets of the city. Our home is a 5 minute drive to 6th street or an easy bike ride. There's a bus station to downtown 2 blocks away and a passenger train station 5 blocks away. A convenient store across the street is open till midnight and there are restaurants a 5-minute walk away. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. There's also an air mattress and two full-size couches in the huge living room, which has wood-floors and windows on multiple walls.
